What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 640

I think this will work on time this week, gentle Desker. If you were held up or put out by my bad scheduling last week, sorry. In such a situation, I must encourage you to always assume it’s a mistake that I’ve made or a technical problem before you start to worry that I’m poorly or have a real life problem. I will share all of those sort of events, you know how much I like things to be all about me.
No further ado then, have a sunlight full on pic of the workspace taken yesterday after lunch, from the door. This isn’t a huge room.
We changed our Internet provider. The box in the foreground contained the necessary black box and wires. It was a self fit job and involved a lot of b*@&#y effort if you ask me.’They’ recommend that your landline phone and the black box should not be parked near one another. Look at all the wires gracing the ‘behind me’ worktop and the floor by the door! All destined to be clipped, shortened, disappeared and oh boy, I’m looking forward to that! The desk itself is unused this week, a combination of brilliant weather and visiting chums. Not a bad reason for sure, but I really must improve my at home time management!
Share and tell then, please. Gimme a chance to visit my Mama and then I’ll visit you. Thank you!

I hate all those "fit it yourself" boxes, they did it to me too last time (several years ago) I had an upgrade of box. as you say. wires everywhere (mine still are, at least you have someone who can fix those! ) Hope the visit to your Mama goes well and enjoy the sunshine whilst we have it - the open door is a welcome sight after all this time! Wires on show are a huge bugbear of mine - I hate them so much and am always trying to figure out how to disguise them! But it’s all coming together nicely and will be fab in the end I’m sure. We’ll stick with you thru it all!
Happy Woyww

Had to laugh when I saw the picture all those wires then I thought wouldn't it be a good idea if there was one socket with an aerial thing and all appliances were on wireless to the aerial thing. A bit like Alexa but perhaps call it Julia. Ani

SO cool to see a wider view of your workspace Julia. Hope the wires are sorted soon and no longer so in the way. I must admit that it makes a difference having a direct ethernet cable connection in the shed, even though it took 130' of cable to do it. Have a good visit with your Mum. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Surprise, Surprise, I'm almost ready to create and enjoy some time as I enjoy it. Garden's done, Fall decor is out and we are having beautiful weather. Makes the soul happy. I spent weeks trying to get a printer to connect to a new router and WHOOPEE it happened today. I'm with you on V+@%#y, hope it's not too hard on you. Have a great time with your Mama.

Good morning Julia. Your workroom may not be huge, but it is twice the size of mine :)
Trailing wires are such a nuisance and unsightly too. Sometimes it's difficult to know how to disguise them. Enjoy your visit to your mother x ANgela #11

Lovely to see a bigger view of your room, Julia. It's a great space and lots of lovely light, too. Shame about the wires but I am sure they will all be sorted! Getting these technie things to talk to each other is a total nightmare. I've had a bit of that to deal with myself this week. However, it sounds a if all is well now, and I hope that the new IP works better for you and you won't have any hitches from now on. I hope you had fun visiting friends this week.

Happy WOYWW,

Well, I've lost the plot. Sat packing things up, went in the kitchen to get a cuppa and remembered it's Wednesday. I', later to the party than normal. It's this warm weather, didn't sleep much last night, got something in my head and had a restless one.
Heading home later, but don't want to go, it's this lazy pace up here I like but I need to craft. Keep carrying boxes and not using them.
Hope you had a good visit with mama and you both enjoyed the sunshine.
Love the craftroom - however tiny it is, it is a craftroom and it's a posh one at that.

The downside of change . . . wires, switches etc
But it will be so much better, I hope, once everything settles again and you can find your way around it.
Enjoy the weather

You might think in these modern times that all that wire could be disposed of but I guess that's too much to ask. I did my mum's visit yesterday so free today though a bit tired as I always do her housework on a Tuesday. The carers are lovely but not particularly very tidy and mum can't do any housework for herself now so there's always plenty to be done. Now look I'm making this about me so better move on. The sun is shining and it looks like being a lovely woyww day so hope yours is happy and full of smiles x19x

Really nice to see the wider view of your room today - it gives an idea of size, and I love the light coming through the door. I know what you mean about fit it yourself boxes... I leave all that to Tim and it often results in stress. I hope you manage to get the cables down to a manageable state! I hope the visit with your Mama went well. Take care, with love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#13)

I don’t know about landlines not being near black boxes, our phone has been sat on top of the black box for years haha.
I know now I can sneak in the back door now you’ve shown us this angle. Watch out watch out there could be a Lancashire Lass about xx

Oh what a pain with the broadband. Recently we had to fix a new router and it was a bit of a faff BUT we then had to have the entire box and feed into the house replaced (indeed lots on our estate did too) as the box was a very old style and wouldnt accept the new system they were rolling out! Luckily they did it all!! Phew! Good luck with those wires behind you too!

Nice shot of your workroom, it makes sense now and you do have more light than I thought. Do you get dizzy from spinning around on your chair from one side to the other?! Hope the pain of swapping providers was worth the aggro, we had to do it when we upgraded to fibre.

Glad you’ve managed to sort out your internet issues. Those spiral wire tidiers can be useful. Lovely to be getting your craft room back. I note your message that any delays should be considered trivial but I knew what it’s like when family are frail.
Take care and happy WOYWW

Happy WOYWW. This sunshine and warmth has been wonderful. We were away in Farnborough for the weekend and it was such a treat to be able to enjoy the event we attended (which was mostly outside) without worrying about the weather. Rain started in Pembrokeshire this morning, but at least I can get on with laundry etc and some computer stuff without the sun telling me to be outside! Hope you get those wires sorted. I am just dreaming of my craft room finally being finished - hopefully next week, but I am not holding my breath. Ali x #25

I think it's great that your craft room opens straight into the garden - that way you can have the feeling that you're sitting outside without the pesky disturbances of the strong sun shine and winds - with an endless supply of fresh air. I hope your new internet supplier will live up to their reputation! We're with BT and touch wood we haven't had any issues yet over the four years we've been here. Ooops, I hope I haven't jinxed it! Enjoy your new crafty space, Julia! Hope your mum's doing well. xx zsuzsa #22

I so wish someone would invent a gadget that tidies away all the wires and cables modern day living seems to require. They are the bugbear of my life, especially as the kitten thinks they are toys put out just for her. And I know it must save money and manpower to get the customer to fit boxes themselves but what happened to good old-fashioned customer care? Most of us are not experts. Hope you've had a lovely visit with your mum. Hugs, Elizabeth x #27

Oh yay for time with your Mama Julia, hopefully all the wires get tucked away soon. Visits with friends sounds much more interesting than a lot of things that could have been done. ( like cutting wires haha) Have a good week! ~Stacy #28

How nice to have a door that you can open to the fresh are and summer breezes! We also changed our provider last month, but it came with a person to do all the hard work! Your room looks nice and cozy, I'm sure it will be happy to see you once you've visited your Mum!

I promise, I'm not laughing at your dilemma. When I first got internet, I had to set the thing up myself. The phone cord line and jack was already there, BUT it was behind the desk, which meant I had to move the entire desk in order to install the equipment, which was just an extension of the phone jack. There were wires everywhere and they were rolled as neatly as I could get them, in a pile I was able to hide mostly behind the desk. When I got fiber optics, I got free installation, which meant a guy came in and did all the upgrades for me. I still have a few wires, but they are now truly manageable. Get your wire clippers/strippers handy, dear. You're going to need them soon.

Glad you are having good weather. Today is the first day it's been under 100 F (38 C) here in weeks. I'm SO ready for autumn. Hope your visit with your mama was great, dear. Obviously not linking in, just dropping by to say hi.

This is NICE VIEW OF YOUR CRaFTY SPACE (sorry, didn't mean to shout. It's the laptop! Doing it's pwn thing again) Can't wait to see your craty space when you are all finished and all your crafty things have a home. I have a lot of wires too but luckily we, (the Royal we) has manages to hide them behind my workbench. You have a wheely good chair there, Mine was rescued from a skip many years ago, and is still going strong! Happy WOYWW #24

Hope you had a lovely time with your mama! Sunny weather is indeed a good reason to go out and forget about creating for a while... but if you find a good 'home time managing course' I need to take that too! Oh well, today rain and wind will take over so I hope to be able to spend the day in my atelier... you have a lovely weekend too dear! Hug from Holland. Marit #2

Everything with a lot of cords folded in seems super hard, I think.
But what do you do?

At least it looks great to have a door straight out into the outdoors
from your hobby room. Fresh air and sunshine are always so refreshing.

Have a nice weekend and take care of yourself!

Thanks for the reassurance re. Carpal Tunnel surgery. I'm guessing you had your both done at different times. Wondering how long to leave it for my left one, although it isn't far as bad and not my dominant hand anyways.

Two weeks not being able to get my right hand wet will be interesting let alone the scary stitches bit! I've gone and hurt my back as well now so will be quite the invalid!

Thanks BJ#16
