Good gracious. </font><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">My nephew and his wife have announced the arrival of their second daughter, Penny. All safe and well. Really emotional, Penny was my late sweet Mama's name. Wow. Doesn't matter, it's just love poking through.</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">I decided to make a welcome to the world card for Penny, and guess what - I've only got about three stamps that are anywhere near qualifying as 'baby'! </font></div><div><img id="id_67b7_287_d077_b76c" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/d/1XK0FXv3CQknFOW9UhygaF0TmXrSgXF6-" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">Whilst I was having post lunch coffee, I bashed out a few of these little sleepy duck images, painted them with the glittery paint pen things (can't remember what they're actually called) and left them to dry while I went out to paint. I hope that each is slightly different, the bottom left image is really quite paint heavy so have pretty much already ruled that out for use. So this is yesterday's desk, but totally untouched this morning, and will be till much later! You can see the Paper pad in all its glory....I've rifled through it at least twice now. One day I might use something from it!</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">Join in then if you will, and if you're just here to read that's fine! You're welcome here, to contribute or not. Impatient, much? It's been a long and wet winter and I'm very over it. So, I got myself on a mission. A bit of colour please, and maybe use a stamp or two that I don't naturally turn to. Can't fail with flowers, huh. These two cards are made with a Basic Grey stamp set and the vertical text stamp is a wood mount from Magenta. Both I've had for years and never used. I'm not a huge fan of vertical messages because they aren't, to my eyes, immediately readable. Nonsense probably, but I can't get over it now, I'm too old. In order to layer all these images, I used Distress Oxides. They do not like being used to ink stamps, especially the clear stamps. To stop the ink beading on the stamp I used an emery board to rough up the stamp surface a bit, particularly as they were 'new'. (Cough, I've only had them about ten years). I stamped birds in three colours and in the end chose to use the purple ones, feeling that they needed to be a strong-ish colour to sit apart from the flowers. You can just see the large text stamp in the right bottom corner of the pic- that's an old Hero Arts stamps. Simply says 'enjoy' in about 1" high letters. I stamped it inside both cards. Keep it simple, to kind of reflect the style of the front. The thing I like about a single word greeting in the Oxide ink particularly is that I can let my big sprawls writing go over it if I get carried away, it'll still be visible. So that's two for the finished drawer, an old set of stamps finally used - and enjoyed and a quick test of my collection of Distress Oxides which thankfully don't need re-inking or discarding. Not a bad session! </font>Julia Dunnithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02164574850662878118noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-218645565952627143.post-30815676451232435492024-02-28T05:17:00.000+00:002024-02-28T05:17:00.133+00:00What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 769<font face="Trebuchet MS">My desk is neglected but for an hour yesterday, so this photo is taken as an aftermath of that slight activity.</font><div><img id="id_1f27_8675_44e_d5a5" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/d/1el_YiTnU-QteGNLqKs9QWerSNAOwdIRE" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">As I was running about with the hoover and some clean bed linen this morning, I realised that I hadn't even got around to making my single monthly commitment- one ATC! Karen chose 'Red' as the theme . I wanted it to be a bit Spring like because it might hasten the arrival - you never know! So, I pulled out every red ink pad I won, red embossing powder and set to. I was going to make a complicated background of layered coloured images which is why the stamp set on the left is open. I put myself off that quite quickly when I discovered that actually, a lot of my red ink pads are similar and don't offer much contrast. The tulips stamp is a solid one that I've had for <i>years.</i> So many years that it benefits from a time when I used to varnish the wood on the rubber side to protect it from ink staining. I did get over that quite quickly, but the few of that era that I still have really do still look as good as new! I only used two reds in the end, and the embossing powder, and if you look closely, you can see that they aren't on the desk. Gentle desker, I had already <i>put them away</i> when I thought to take this photo. I know. I'm not I'll, but when pressed for time, even I recognise good housekeeping will help! It was nearly lunch time, so the inevitable cup of coffee joined me at the desk, and then turned into a glue stick holder. It's not still there, promise! The Easter decs are still unfinished and shoved, not even pushed back. Luckily for me, Easter isn't till the end of March. So that's me, off early to collect paint and wallpaper today, so bear with me if I don't show up just as the first need for mid morning coffee strikes!</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div><script type="text/javascript" src="//www.blenza.com/linkies/easylink.php?owner=stampingground&postid=27Feb2024&meme=7141"></script>Julia Dunnithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02164574850662878118noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-218645565952627143.post-49315011644668313032024-02-21T05:55:00.000+00:002024-02-21T05:55:00.128+00:00What's on your Workdesk? That's it, the full extent of this weeks creativity at my desk! The highlighter pen is a remnant from sitting there to read through some legal paperwork. The purchase of Ma In Law's new bungalow has at last completed, and so I've been wallpaper stripping, masking, painting, dismantling fitted wardrobes...all sorts. Still a way to go; todays delights will include filling about a million screw holes in the wall from which I dismantled a fitted wardrobe (we're changing that bedroom into a lounge), and having a little go at the skirting boards. Wednesday 767 <font face="Trebuchet MS">Already, my weekend of indulgence is over and it is from there that I thought you may like to see my desk. A share of the kitchen table, actually. Vey comfortable cottage and lots of space for us five. </font><div><img id="id_ce1c_4db_b672_91d" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/d/159NG7mBnKnSvjbcTVmcZ6MkJPCwTn_Jj" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">My space is actually clear! I'd just finished a page and was tidying up in between so that my mess didn't encroach on other spaces. My trusty cutter is at left of my space, in a sharing position. As always, we had a lot of fun and I made a goodly bunch of LOs which is very pleasing. We all did, actually. Also, of pleasing-ness to me is that I am using up stash, and because LollyScrapper shared her YouTube find about using up patterned scraps, I'm actually working through that lot too, and that is satisfying! </font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">My at-home desk isn't quite empty - I still have the easter decorations awaiting attention, but if it continues to rain and be grizzly, then completion is likely! However, I have a morning out of the house first, so please don't eat all the biscuits before I get back!</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div>

I've moved the tub of pens and the box of little wooden houses to the dining table because I'm corralling stuff again. This time all the bits and boxes and stash and equipment that I'll be taking away at the weekend. This week I've cleared out a couple of cupboards and found these unused pastry cutters; so decided to make hanging decorations out of them for Easter, starting with sticking them to some seasonally spring like paper. Tricky but not impossible, getting silicone glue on the cutting edges! I had to cut the top edge off the silicone glue because the nozzle end is solid. Makes me cross that it goes off so quickly, but can't banish it from my collection of glues, too useful! </span></div><div><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS";">So, as is routine, please join in and link .... we need to see each other!</span></div><div><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS";"><br></span></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">Routine can be a useful distraction and even a comfort. Zoe is a long time friend of WOYWW and those of us that know her are reeling from the shocking news that her son, Keagan, died last weekend after an horse racing accident. He was a professional jockey. I hadn't met him, but felt a little bit as if I knew him. He was a youngster when we first met Zoe and she told of us his caring nature and his ambition to ride and we've followed his maturing and working so hard ever since to realise his ambition. His dream. He was a special son and we all feel his loss in a tiny way, and wish Zoe nothing but peace and comfort as she faces this new reality. I wish her routine and distraction and love and hugs and a safe place to howl and vent; I'm quite sure we all do. </font></div><div><br><br> </div><script type="text/javascript" src="//www.blenza.com/linkies/easylink.php?owner=stampingground&postid=06Feb2024&meme=7141"></script>Julia Dunnithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02164574850662878118noreply@blogger.com18tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-218645565952627143.post-73665803789776931182024-01-31T05:52:00.000+00:002024-01-31T05:52:00.128+00:00What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 765n<font face="Trebuchet MS">I printed the new address onto post card sized pieces of card, stamped a few dozen wonky houses onto patterned paper and cut them out. Stuck them in a row across the bottom of the postcard and slowly realised that my Ma In Law (hereafter called Grandma) won't like them. They're wonky, not in number order, different sizes and stamped on floral papers. She won't get it, it's not real enough. So I've set to, and am mid making another set.</font><div><img id="id_3dd7_61e9_3dd2_9efb" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/d/1riMGUQMI9d9mrt_GojlFatYDGgFAzgOy" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">I think these will do the trick. The house purchase completes on Friday so I need to just get on with them really. Not a scary deadline because Grandma isn't actually moving in on Friday, but nevertheless, they'll make a good start! I'm using a Stampin' Up! Set and keeping it relatively simple. I've plonked my coffee mug on the desk and from this angle it looks empty, ( the mug, not the desk,) but fear not, I'll recharge it and settle in to visit your desk. Please forgive me for tardiness and not getting to you last week...it went a bit pear shaped for a couple of days!</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div><script type="text/javascript" src="//www.blenza.com/linkies/easylink.php?owner=stampingground&postid=30Jan2024&meme=7141"></script>Julia Dunnithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02164574850662878118noreply@blogger.com20tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-218645565952627143.post-3887798709139462502024-01-24T05:50:00.000+00:002024-01-24T05:50:00.132+00:00What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 764<font face="Trebuchet MS">Gosh, we've nearly done January! Well done everyone! A month closer to the Crop on 18th May. Sarah was right, having something like this to look forward to is a right old tonic! We're going to be in Penkhull Village Hall, Stoke On Trent. I will repeat this and other info, just don't want any of you to forget!</font><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">Meanwhile, I'm making some postcard type change of address cards. My tremendous and lovely Mother In Law is downsizing very soon and can you believe it, we couldn't find a pad or box of such things in town last week, so I thought I'd make a couple dozen before we start getting frantic with de-cluttering and packing! </font></div><div><img id="id_bcec_dca5_785c_73fe" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/d/1vlNlDzosPG21c1AEyRXf-jnOud_VifBW" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto;"><br><font face="Trebuchet MS">You can see a row of houses stamped on about 6 different papers. I shall cut these out and stick 'em on in an incredible creative way to draw attention to the new address that I've printed onto the coloured card. Just poking out from under the papers there's a wood mounted stamp. It's an ornate key image and I <i>think</i> it'll appear on the cards too. We'll see; I might not have done a dummy run and the style of the houses and the style of the key are not exactly matching. This is what happens when you just pull stamps that fit a theme...silver lining though..it's not exactly an untidy desk yet is it!</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">Join me do then please, show us how real life is affecting your work desk. I know it's mostly referred to as a 'retreat', but I hesitate to use that word- I live a life from which I don't actually need to retreat, these weekends away in the company of friends is more of an 'indulgence'! Anyway, in getting ready for a weekend of scrapbooking - and I am, in a slow, back of my mind way, - I think it's inevitable that a little bit of a sort out takes place. Instead of scratching the surface and throwing supplies in a bag and winging it for a few hours, this is packing for a sustained effort! <br></font><div><img id="id_9d52_c008_77d5_9057" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/d/1QWB9iwGnOc2CvN_aZduD9ZSPUWaAZVvC" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 385px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">We've fallen into the habit of sharing the unwanted stash before it's donated. That way, we get to cherry pick each other's cast offs. And there's nothing like a bit of something 'new' to play with if you're inspiration needs a kick start. And little pieces that you don't own and didn't know you wanted are doubly so, it's nice when you can use them straight away, if for no other reason that they don't become part of your own stash for an unspecified time!</font></div><div><br></div><div><img id="id_8c70_d85_6ae3_3fcd" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/d/1tyoOdwus7Y5TIqlDJc7EXTPbBODnU7Xq" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 385px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">This might be just me, but there's also a small element of challenge involved in all this cherry picking. After all, being able to effectively include a piece of ephemera or paper that someone else has passed over is satisfying; even more so when its admired as though you planned it! One of the things I really like about it though, is that your old stuff, in other peoples hands most always turned back into a really effective treasure. I look at pages made with some of my of cast off pieces and wonder how on earth I didn't think to use them in such a way. I think it may actually be because we all have so much that we overlook and stop really seeing what we've got. But that's a deep and scary theory that touches on the hoarder element of this hobby, and I don't want to discuss that!</font></div>Julia Dunnithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02164574850662878118noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-218645565952627143.post-23585053586342673102024-01-17T06:01:00.000+00:002024-01-17T06:01:00.145+00:00What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 763<font face="Trebuchet MS">Well, gentle desker, there's no door lining but the cavity work is done. And I must say, it's a lot warmer in here than I'm used to. I always thought that it was sitting still that made me feel a chill...not so - missing insulation! So a few days without the desk has really paid off, and I return in excellent form...</font><div><img id="id_241c_4c6c_6a50_2a9a" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AEYmBYStQ2ZZER_bVe_7F4hee1u9h46SKmWxfF5GgTDe1_b0b90qG1oH2Lp0eXuSMAmZRGSvmiKrwEuyvJ3y_Nml-9d-t7kKmg" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">So...new to me Stampin' Up set at far right...wood mounted...bliss! Above that, my file full of black alphabets. I don't buy any stick on alphas anymore, so it takes a lot of going through each file to make up a word, vowels are very thin on the ground. I'll use them all up in one way or another. The pizza box contains my Coven Secret Santa gift, some scrapbook paper and ephemera that I am thrilled to have. I haven't treated myself to anything new for ages, so this is a lovely treat. I've transferred my most used colour pens into a pot to sit on the desk...I have a collection of coloured rollerballs and chisel tips that I like to journal with and they are so much easier to access in a pot than rummage through them lying flat in a basket. Little wins! At left you can see the word 'masks', which is a set of alphabet sticky masks, most excellent but not often used. They are sitting on the file they came out of...stencils. I don't have many. They were out because I was making this month's lone ATC for my swap with Karen after finishing off some LOs that needed this and that after last weeks crop. This week is a bit quiet on the desk front so far, but never say never!</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">The puzzle was finished and there's a piece missing...have looked all over and all under, but no luck! If anyone would like to try it, let me know, happy to post it to you. I should point out that usually, doing a puzzle with the image upside down isn't a great idea, but in this case it made no difference at all! 98% credit to Mr Dunnit too. Way too taxing for me.</font></div><div><img id="id_2cc4_6e02_2b2_eaaa" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AEYmBYSTDvfKUA5ZJI_8-xO-fMrVNXNiyH6M5y1P98Xj-bGUGmhB_SjUfcBwfvYRLGKH0hcLq4VGpM136P7MYvS2rdeih2dHHA" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 616px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">This week I have to differentiate between being shocked that it's been a week already, and being shocked that it's Wednesday already, honestly, the first is bad enough, but I'm really worried about Monday and Tuesday, where did they go?</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">So that's me, show and tell about your good self please!</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div><script type="text/javascript" src="//www.blenza.com/linkies/easylink.php?owner=stampingground&postid=16Jan2024&meme=7141"></script>Julia Dunnithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02164574850662878118noreply@blogger.com21tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-218645565952627143.post-13813644338256554882024-01-10T05:55:00.000+00:002024-01-10T05:55:00.130+00:00What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 762<font face="Trebuchet MS">By virtue of the time of year and the current stinging cold weather, Mr Dunnit is home by about 2pm. He is easily bored...have I ever mentioned that? He keeps finding jobs to do. I'm very grateful and some of them have been on the list for a cotton-picking age, but there's one that has kept me from my desk this week. Something to do with the cavity and door lining in my workroom. So rather than fighting for space, I've done some more clearing out and, well, not crafted....exactly...</font><div><img id="id_b90_17e6_daa7_c711" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AEYmBYTeNP-qsRnOu_uGOmPNRCoetvgZNR-d7vJGu_h9TacBFo7z6O-WRJQfM1SE1x8PBG4-G4s-hIuzA-OEPc-U0boMY0u6sg" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">This </font><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS";">is vey possibly the hardest puzzle I've ever attempted, and I don't mind telling you, I'm not enjoying it! Mr Dunnit has done the majority, his patience for colour matching is incredible! It's harDDD! So, I'm being very enthusiastic and encouraging of the door liner work in my workroom, I very badly need some desk time. And I won't be using purples and lilacs on anything very soon! </font><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">How's your desk then?<script type="text/javascript" src="//www.blenza.com/linkies/easylink.php?owner=stampingground&postid=09Jan2024&meme=7141"></script></font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div><div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font><br><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div></div>Julia Dunnithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02164574850662878118noreply@blogger.com21tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-218645565952627143.post-47540639623607759742024-01-03T05:48:00.000+00:002024-01-03T05:48:00.126+00:00What's On Your Workdesk? In a bid to avoid 8 kerjillion unnecessary steps, I corral everything onto the dining table. This really helps avoid that moment in a March when I notice notice a stray decoration hanging from a door handle or on a window cill! We have two Christmas trees up and there is a plastic toy box standing next to each one, waiting to receive the baubles and doodads. It's not a brilliant system, but it gets everything back into storage as quickly as I like. The decluttering at back right of the table is cupboard emptying of stuff we haven't used in the last two years, so it's not staying. Man I'm tough. And then, there's the </font><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS";">desk....</span></div><div></div><div><img id="id_24cc_cee_61f_e21e" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AEYmBYRMKGlA9DcpgXmu8nv7XIif1snaq9iLDYhBtmnVCsxQCUndUx2NuifpFqZ4Sl_JbsyNu33G7BZOF-1ra-iguVsHBH5QIQ" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">I have had desk time over the holiday which has been lovely, I made some thank you cards and did some scrapbooking. No longer evident now because regretfully, I'm now in the process of making sympathy cards. There's evidence of a Christmas gift from my gal and the current squeeze..a little tower of Washi tape. And you may just be able to see my bargains from Hobbycraft at far right - two pads of card inserts for a pound each and a packet of gobbly eyes because you never know when the need will arise! </font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">So that's me, gentle desker. Not a huge annual number, but I'm a bit frightened to commit to a regular swap in case I let a group down. So, Karen and I take it in turns to choose a monthly theme. Karen is adventurous and frankly, fearless with her choice. She is secure about her skills.Computer imagery, manipulation of images, drawing, stamping, you name it.</font><div><img id="id_f95e_aebc_2d6b_3bc3" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AEYmBYTkbQg1lPul3Hf9fvo4wJRJjjX70ZETuBtMnYLQjT_2SZQdvU3WfZQJ9HJ9_lbvYNYvkiRBjfd9s26d_dFllI7KbtsWAA" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto;"><br><font face="Trebuchet MS">And as is my luck in meeting people, Karen has a fab sense of humour which often finds its way onto her ATCs. And we don't stick to obvious monthly themes either. These are in month order from top left...yes, Frankenstein was drawn for August! Huge thanks to Karen. There have been a couple of occasions in 2023 when an ATC is all that my desk has produced in a week. It's lovely to have the concentration of mind, theme and desk time. Try it.....it's a little gift every month! </font></div>Julia Dunnithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02164574850662878118noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-218645565952627143.post-42124910255523452142023-12-27T06:24:00.003+00:002023-12-27T06:28:26.135+00:00What's On Your your Workdesk? Wednesday 760<div><font face="Trebuchet MS">Posting this early early...just remembered a ridiculous appointment at the gym first thing on Wednesday morning (seemed like a good idea last week when the gym was encouraging us to 'squeeze' one session in between Christmas and New Year!)</font></div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div>Happy happy betwixtmas gentle desker. I very much hope that Christmas has been kind to you; I must say it seems strange to be writing this so close to Christmas, it's been a struggle to keep the days straight...I wonder if it would be kinder on brains like mine if we could make Christmas always fall on a Sunday? You know, a moveable feast like Easter. Would certainly help me!</font><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">And because in the run up to it, I was confused by the whole Christmas on a Monday thing, turned out that Christmas Eve found us ready earlier than anticipated! Specifically, buttons. This sparked quite a few comments to remind me about the cost of postage and worse, the cost of postage for items thicker than 5mm. I know, it's not cheap and because we are all over 21, so we are all old enough to have had to absorb quite a few rises to the cost of posting anything. Everything. </font><div><img id="id_a831_28cb_48c6_b8df" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AEYmBYRlNYDFBqBmt9wHcIg0gYQeHY7oRyg6X3d9HE69cPHpgp0wLTy1MORlb5uCBwFKY833bnKU1EAgaLgqThyP4QQiyomlsQ" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 385px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">Here's the thing though. Paper crafting is my game, and more specifically, I make cards. I really like to make cards and I really, really like to make cards to send to people. I know the postage costs are dramatic, and when there are a lot of cards to post, at Christmas say, it can be prohibitive. This is how I look at it; a second class stamp is now a pound, I think. I cannot, under any circumstance, deliver a card to anywhere outside about a 20 mile radius for a pound. I hand deliver a lot. I post worldwide and nationally, with a blink or two to be sure, but I do constantly remind myself that a card posted to the USA for 3 quid is about 696 pounds and a lot of effort less than I can deliver it for. For me, this cost becomes a part of the gift of the greeting that I've made.</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">Now I'm not telling you this to cause controversy. Cost is a consideration for all of us, and I know that there are plenty of people who choose to make a charitable donation rather than send cards. I've never thought of this as a method to avoid postal costs, rather a generous gesture at a busy time. Giving to a charity is connecting, just as sending a card is connecting. And my word, despite differences of opinion, we need to stay connected, don't we.</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div>Julia Dunnithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02164574850662878118noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-218645565952627143.post-73450256742379958512023-12-20T05:24:00.000+00:002023-12-20T05:24:00.130+00:00What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 759<font face="Trebuchet MS">I've moved back into my workroom for this week's photo, the dining table surface is still erm, busy. Fortunately now, it's small piles of presents or cards, or cake, chutney and fudge to be distributed as I go out and about in the next few days. But the desk....well of course it needs a btidy. </font><div><img id="id_1122_d80f_ef56_f0f7" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AEYmBYTdkDY_iVKNfobuAcK2p7gOkMNfVOKgo-f6nrhlhuu_cqbxwKZ2gTgH0pQi-rYykCIp57V-dgLGUAorjd041zElCeDz" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">But before I tidy that, which really isn't too daunting, I have to tackle </font><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS";">this...</span></div><div><img id="id_f3ab_99e5_7dc2_3750" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AEYmBYRnu23RCCV9hl2VOWm53A4k601tMrHto0e9LQZry1tSLqh0nZ5OmQrGF_17mSNBRgvhtKU9psfjng0FuJ-4QtCDUxFb" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">Because I need the work surface space - to at least lean on whilst I put baskets back onto the shelves! I'm driven to distraction by the A3 paper that we need for the printer. The tray won't carry even half a ream and when it needs refilling, it somehow is never put away properly. Interesting that actually, I haven't yet got a 'proper' place for it, so putting away isn't easy anyway. Argh. I think cupboard doors would make everything look tidier but I really prefer the way it all works without. </font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">Now, you don't need me to tell you that this time next week it will all be over, good grief. Nevertheless, there are still days to go, so if you've time and inclination, please show what you're up to. This is scheduled because I'm out in the morning, but it won't hold me up for long. So it may be tea, not coffee, but after a marathon making stint yesterday, we have mince pies...just ask!</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div><div><br><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div><script type="text/javascript" src="//www.blenza.com/linkies/easylink.php?owner=stampingground&postid=19Dec2023&meme=7141"></script>Julia Dunnithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02164574850662878118noreply@blogger.com22tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-218645565952627143.post-42445429577777819022023-12-13T05:50:00.000+00:002023-12-13T05:50:00.243+00:00What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 758<font face="Trebuchet MS">Well, Deskers, I've moved from my real desk to the dining table. My real desk is the usual mess and the stuff on this table is more time sensitive at this point! Mr Dunnit has employed his skill and CNC machine to do some cutting for me, and I can safely show you because these presents are destined for people who don't read this.</font><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">Some explanation first, by way of an apology for the rude words. Hurrah! Over the next year we're going to cut a bundle of these sort of things and I'm going to have a go at a craft stall or two. Remind me, won't you?! </font></div><div><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS";">Christmas decorations are still lacking, but I'm getting on it...I cleaned like a demon yesterday so the spaces for tree and such are now ready, so the next couple days will see some sparkle.</span></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">I sincerely hope that in amongst all of the hustle there is some fun and anticipation for you, if it's too much, step back for a while, seriously, having you whole and happy is more important than having anything else. The only plus is that if you do skid or slide the stamp, with a fast swish of a wet wipe, the ink will come off. Then you have to dry it. Ask me how I know. The other thing I learned is that if you want to stamp on these highly coated boards, you have to emboss the Versafine. It will dry without being embossed, but not without heat and not without the amount of heat that warps and browns. Wednesday 756<font face="Trebuchet MS">Gee whizzzzzzzz. And that's all I can say about it, last week of November already!</font><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">I made a huge mess over the weekend making up some mini scrapbook pages for adding to the album I made for my Aunt last year; we'll be going up to Yorkshire again at the end of next week and I suddenly realised I could deliver in person if I got my act together! The greater shock for you though, gentle Desker, is that I tidied up. Properly.</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">And yesterday I got back at about 330 and went straight to my desk. Started stamping and embossing and putting parts together to make a few more cards, so the pic shows the colour ways and I fully intend to finish these and get my long distance greetings in the post this week. Because to be honest, next week is so busy that I won't be able to, and then it's pretty much too late isn't it.</font></div><div><img id="id_ca1f_f422_154e_9d3c" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AK7aPaAwtWkmdZFUQG1eRBQj5vL9irqWYSTdB8STkZKjHjsSZtNouQ1EEJpN-Z-GIQJkH6EWVpK8omoBXOsybBVvt1JFUXGA7Q" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">It doesn't take much to make a mess, but it's a vaguely ordered mess. I'm using buttons! Surprising myself, but trying hard to use stuff I've got and like, and buttons are certainly in that category. The gems are exploding from their box so they're getting some use too, gotta keep them properly corralled or they end up stuck to very random things. Like sleeves, soles, the floor....you know. </font><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">So, if you're of a mind, please join us do, the show and tell moments are cathartic. And...you can have a cuppa to help you round. I'll let you have the favourite mug too, if you like.</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div><script type="text/javascript" src="//www.blenza.com/linkies/easylink.php?owner=stampingground&postid=28Nov2023&meme=7141"></script>

Wednesday 755<font face="Trebuchet MS">Well I've definitely forced more desk time out of this week, and to a greater extent, it's been productive! </font><img id="id_ece0_937b_b9d2_52da" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AK7aPaBeqeulGHqdVS3mLv9-V2jJnriwIuzhy5toc8K-_Yj5s9SvHYh4_k4OUq6CLWC-MS4S_UVeFO-GF2C70-crtTn4EO9B" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">I bought this kit in September and to be honest, had almost become so used to it sitting on the worktop in my space that I could easily have stopped seeing it...it was a bit of a tidy up that made me realise that now would be a good time to make it up. It actually contained loads of ribbon lengths that I couldn't make work, the instructions weren't very clear to me. So, out came the glue gun and I made it up from the picture on the box (at left on my desk) and by missing out the ribbons that I didn't like. Was a nice couple of hours and only two sweary moments when the glue was too hot for fat fingers! She doesn't know it yet, but this wreath is for Miss Dunnit and I shall deliver it today. Which means I'm out again, so please bear with me on the visiting front!</font></div><div><img id="id_236c_91c2_fd79_ef8b" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AK7aPaB47zZ0z-_vn3CjLzjBHk9QrHD6W2sTbJHo7jP7AAiaNi6vTfQ0IvBa8ht4YR6hMC8_p8F2FevulBlJB1Zey2CwIFMSCA" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">I'm not sure why the mouse looks drunk.. he looks more upright than that to me...wonky eyesight! He might have to be a manipulated mouse! </font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">So whilst I'm out by the grey blue waters of the south coast, please show and tell, you obviously are an inspiration. And not just to me.

Wednesday 754<font face="Trebuchet MS">The Kathys went through my Christmas stamps and in doing so reminded me that I have some beauties. And even better for me, most of the real beauties are wood mounts. I've spent a few hours making and enjoying. The spread out pieces had glitter glue drying. It's been a couple of days now so am guessing it will all be dry.....</font><div><img id="id_72d0_3036_4ef6_3850" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AK7aPaBGuITNfztAaJVuBknjT7J37nou33IEO7Xvx_JazwHSQY7c7nbdWZsEZsW9vTyLGZoxF5f4mLuFYaPIudaEFVpxzibf" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">Before I garnered the strength to cut out more houses, I made a batch of other cards - the stack with green envelopes you can see...very simple, but I hope, effective. If I remember, I'll show a proper view of one at some point. The paper piecing was a bit tedious, but the cutting was done whilst on the phone to the many people I've been in touch with in the last ten days or so, so that part was more productive than just sitting about cutting! I shan't repeat this idea though, incredibly time consuming and as I've mentioned before, really rather heavy on the embossing powder. A lovely image though, happy to have it in my collection. Not to be doom and gloom about it all, because I love making cards, but I also realised that if I post them, they will qualify as 'large letter' which is another consideration these days, huh.</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">So now, please expect me when you see me; going to Portsmouth today to see my sissy. If it miraculously stays dry, it might be quite nice!

Wednesday 753<font face="Trebuchet MS">Home again, jiggety jig! I've had time to tidy my desk, take stock of what I was doing and decide to carry on, which is why you see it looking a bit similar to a previous WOYWW!</font><div><img id="id_23a7_73e_1003_88a9" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AK7aPaAI7E0h_kCzwqw-OCj_hE_iCJhzmhxa0Z5XWmDBsftCDXs7p2OnpeQDa-fSbE8i1AMwoO3-wL0ppaTW3qe5mUz0OMqXvA" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><font face="Trebuchet MS">Those two little packets at the top left of the glass mat are tags, kraft and white. I ordered them in a hurry and inevitably, they are smaller than I thought they'd be, but nonetheless, are going to be used! Behind them at left are two card bookmarks from English Heritage, the text says 'step into England's story' and I snaffled them from my lovely Aunt for scrapbooking purposes - when the Kathys were here we went to a few 'old' places, so I can make them work! Also while they were here, we went to the Crafters Companion shop in Evesham. They had a bargain area where returned goods are sold cheaply. I bought two stamps from that section, the first of which is at the left of my desk...some smart text about coffee. I was going to make a bunch of cards with it but I think given my tortoise like pace, I need to stay with Christmas for a while! There's a folder and a plastic box of photos next to my cutter. Freshly unpacked from my crop bag, to remind me that I need to keep up the momentum! Blimey, making myself laugh now!</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS">Please share and show, we like it. I made a fresh batch of biscuits, so get ready for a coffee break!</font></div><div><font face="Trebuchet MS"><br></font></div><script type="text/javascript" src="//www.blenza.com/linkies/easylink.php?owner=stampingground&postid=07Nov2023&meme=7141"></script>Julia Dunnithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02164574850662878118noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-218645565952627143.post-11366738955013130052023-10-31T22:58:00.001+00:002023-10-31T22:58:08.856+00:00What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 752<font face="Trebuchet MS" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Consider this a decoy. I'm currently in beautiful Yorkshire, on fairly short notice visit, and didn't even think about needing a desk shot when I left home! This pic isn't too old - taken when I was actually working on a LO at our crop just a fortnight ago</font><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><img id="id_61b6_9305_3a06_2206" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AK7aPaAMTO6g7lEKpskiXhds_RnPIeCVPEyDuXIH1Rh_xiF_nyAEkmeKd032rvkzNFUkaZG5SWV5NmpMN0obD-syGrpabcUPQQ" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS";">I've no idea how old this paper is; the gold embossed leaf pattern is actually a pumpkin shape - but if there's a photo of our daughter describing one of her many childhood Halowe'ens that isn't on a LO, I'll be very surprised. And it's probably fifteen years since any of those Hallowe'en party shenanigans took place, so I think it's safe to hide the pumpkin shape a bit and get the paper used up! So you see here the stage where I rummage through my embellishments and ephemera to see what I can use up and yet make it look like a deliberate and arty choice. *cough*.</span></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS";">It doesn't look very different now it's all stuck down and called finished, but I quite like it. The two beauties pictured are my neice and great neice. *cough* *again*. They are not mother and daughter. Work that out! </span></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><img id="id_348e_ef14_1770_3252" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AK7aPaBhXnw2WNM8NDpBpaMHFgDC3kxVf-Lo1iSsiQaSKJ9HngkQ_gT4ChTujuJiC1cKYCK8OdDYwgkTYvMUUAdDfsIjdUcd" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 385px; height: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block;"></div><div style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS";">So Deskers, as we turn to face November and the seasonal crafting and it's inevitable deadline, please feel free to inspire and motivate at will! I am already thinking that I'll have so much to catch up on when I get home that I'll either go into overdrive, or procrastinate even more than usual as a reaction to self implied pressure. We'll see. Meanwhile, see you at yours, I'll bring Pudding and Parkin.</span></div> <script type="text/javascript" src="//www.blenza.com/linkies/easylink.php?owner=stampingground&postid=31Oct2023b&meme=7141"></script>Julia Dunnithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02164574850662878118noreply@blogger.com20
