WOYWW? 165 (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday)

OK, well, before we go too far, let me wish Lunch Lady Jan a really happy Birthday - how good of her to put it on a Wednesday so we can all have a piece of cake with our cups -of-something whilst browsing the desks!  Happy day chum, and see you later!
Now, my desk.  It continues to be a mere work station rather than a crafting paradise.  This time you can blame the Olympics.  You can see wrapping paper...well, there's a clue for Jan!  And my October calendar...I was trying to organise a hall booking and realised that I needed to 'see' what I was doing so as not to double up; I can do that so easily.  Turns out I needn't have bothered, we can't have the hall till November! There's my mended spongeboard square sponge thingy and a box of pink ball headed pins.  Yep.  Pins.  4" (10cm) long and proportionally correct pink pearly head.  I went to a gift shop in Pewsey called China Rose.  Some of their jewellery was displayed on pin boards using these pins.  I HAD to have some.  They are perfect for putting on presents...big bows, big pin..you know. Like big feet, big hands.... And besides....they're lovely.  You may just be able to make out the green photo envelope too.  We had visitors over the weekend, Miss Dunnit's Godparents.  She came bearing pictures of her son's Prom night.  What a handsome devil I said, what lovely pics I said.  Keep them she said....I'd like you to make me a mini album!  Didn't get a chance to play the mug that never says no!!  Funny.  So that's me.  A couple deadlines to meet and I'm all caught up after illnesses, holidays and the like.  It's only taken 10 days.  Lordy, how grown up I've been about it all.  Time to get back to colouring cutting and sticking!
Show us how your work surface looks this week then - post a pic on your blog, include WOYWW in the title of your post and link here. Easy.  If you can bring yourself to, turn off the word verification...you'll get more comments!

Thought that roll of paper was a funky Olympic torch in the make.

Glad to be back at WOYWW camp...you are psychic as your wonderful postcard was just fabulous and SOOOOOO on time. THANK YOU! I kept your story in mind too - normal or not, done by millions or not, this baby lark is a rough ride. Glad to be on the other side and concious! Have a good week... sarah and her hormones.

I woke up 3 am (our time) to watch the Olympics opening! How very British I thought, a little quirky! We have British guests here and I asked them why in the world were they over here when the whole world wanted to be over there in London?!!!
WOW! Those pins are huge! You'll need a huge bow too! Thanks for the snoop! patsy #15 (to think I had my post published at 5 in the morning! Peggy shouted WOYWW at about 7:30 am! )

You certainly have had a busy week, Julia. Sorry you had trouble with your wonderful foam pad storage thingy but glad you managed to sort it in the end! Gorgeous pins... Not seen them that big before!

Thanks for all you do for us, and happy WOYWW,

Once again, I'm on deadline, but I hope to be finished with this project by Friday. Maybe you'll be able to stop by then, because I'm certainly unable to make the WOYWW rounds this week. Have a great week, dear friend and I hope to be back for 166!

I was just off to bed after writing my post for tomorrow - trying to get ahead of the game when I noticed you had posted already - I like being nnnnn19! I sound so young. Those pins look good enough to eat. I made one of those foam pad storage thingies too! I spent ages writing all the names of the colours on the coloured oblongs I had painted and then I realised you can't see the names when your pad is in place or when you stick you bit of velcro on! It was one of those 'that was obvious moments!' Have fun with the Prom Mini WOYWW Hugs to your from Helen 19 Off to bed now or I will look nnnn91 in the morning - Laters!

Fabulous desk. Love the wrapping paper. Pins are great but don't understand how you make a bow. Can you show? Glad everything back to normal. Loving the Olympics too x

Darnell said...

Dude, those are some SERIOUS pink balls you've got there! That has to be some SERIOUS bow to accommodate a 4" pin. Do take pictures of that!! Speaking of pics, sorry about your being blindsided by the mini-album request, but it is a compliment, after all, of your outstanding talents, and they are the missy's Godparents ...

Thanks a mill, as usual, for hosting this corner of hysterical in a world of hysteria! Hey, I should write that down.

VonnyK said...

Now they are some serious pins, love them. I might be able to use them to take up little misses skirts. At least I can see where they are going and not stick her so much :)
Beautiful wrapping paper for a beautiful lady, off to wish her a happy birthday.
Have a great week and enjoy the Olympics. By the way, we have a gold and you don't (na na) :)

The sponge board thingy is a genius idea. But then so was the opening of the olympics so it must be a Brit thingy. Love the pink ball headed pins. Best of all is the flash of light on the right letting us know you were tin the pic.

So glad you're finally catching up--what a great feeling! I think a crafting paradise is my goal too--but I really need an entire room (not just a corner) to make that happen! Happy WOYWW!

Be afraid Julia...cos if you stab yourself with one of those pins it's gonna hurt! REALLY HURT!

I really love the spongy board what a fantastic idea, and those pins look lovely. You certainly have had a bit of a crisis year and coped really well, think I would be like the spongy board on a hot summers day, I would slide down to the floor and wither in a corner somewhere lol, only joking, it is amazing though how us women can cope and think straight in a crisis or difficult situation. Love the wrapping paper, I need to pop on over to Jan and wish her a Happy Birthday. It's great that I'm able to be early, sort of an achievement for me lol. Hope your desk soon becomes more of a crafty paradise rather than a work station. Happy Woyww :-) Kerry xxx

Thanks for the glimpse of your great desk! These Olympics just get in the way of creativity, don't they? I'm having a case of that myself. But it's so much fun to watch all the feats of amazing skill and discipline! Which is rather ironic that it seems to completely obliterate my discipline...just one more commercial, then one more, then just ONE more...LOL!

Thanks for the great comment, Julia - I know I sometimes (well, frequently if I'm honest!) sound plum crazy but as I keep telling my hubby, there's method in my madness! Wait and see what else I come up with lol!!

I'm seriously thinking of doing some blog posts on using up our old rubbish - we throw so much out without a second thought and we could give it a new lease of life and create an object of beauty!

As for the Olympics, I can't say it's particularly restful! I'm on the edge of my seat, and it's surprising I didn't burn the ironing this a.m. watching our lovely ladies rowing their way to Gold! Awesome. Just watched Bradley of the Golden Sideburns going for Gold too - how much more can I take, I wonder! Think I shall take to my bed after this is all over... Lol!

Those pink pins are adorable! Can't wait to see what you do with them.

Isn't it like us paper crafter/artists...we just can't say no to anybody when they ask us for a scrap-related favor? One of the girls I was crafting with yesterday had to make 13 cards for a friend who just asked her for some and didn't offer to help with expenses...and that's just a few weeks after my friend had made the woman 12 cards already! We just can't seem to say no!
