Are we nearly there yet?

Oh boy, there's still a lot to be done in this house before Christmas takes hold. You know there's the point where it's easier to keep going because you know it'll work out? Well, I'm not there yet, although I think we're at the point of no return....at least we'll have gifts for our family and friends - and if I concentrate really hard, I may even get some cards posted. See, I know lots of people now don't bother with cards, or send e cards, but I can't break the habit...despite the rush and the pressure and the writing in them part of it, I love to make cards and I love to receive them. So I judge that others do too.
Yesterday Mr Dunnit and I shopped. We went to Basingstoke, got there about 3pm, parked without difficulty, and then joined the dwindling crowds. Because I have left it later than I like to, I did have some ideas, so we actually did pretty well, and I think I can handle the rest in fits and starts! Although I did discover that just wandering around looking at stuff, without a clue what to buy for someone (anyone!) is very very bad. All I seem to see is stuff that I'd like very much. And that was without dragging him around Paperchase too. I'm getting strong in my old age! And slow apparently, I really need a week off. Anyone else - I could write you a note!

I have not finished my tip-ins or started my cards. Guess I'm even further behind than you. Been on the computer far too long, so should find a reason to get going. Glad you are making a tiny bit of headway on your Christmas list.

Wrote my cards this afternoon, just got to find a post office for some stamps (the shops local to the office don't have Christmas ones, and I really like to get the festive stamps!) Did get a few pressies yesterday, much of what's left can be done as cash for the teenagers in the family, who prefer that to a bad choice! So I think I may be winning....

Love the card - understated but very nice. No, I'm not ready for Christmas yet. I hate shopping and will put it off as long as possible - should really do it all on the Internet and save myself the grief. Cards not written yet either - still making them :( Next year I vow I will be more organised. Elizabeth

Well I retired nearly a year ago and was sure I would be more organised this Christmas. Who was I kidding - still got pressies to buy, cards to finish and that is without travelling 150 miles to bring MIL down to spend a week with us over Christmas. Oh-hum. We will all get there in the end and what we don't do , no one will notice except us anyway - so just enjoy the season.

Only a week off? I need a month!! I think I'm ok on the present front, and the cards are under control, but the house looks like a bomb site and I have no clue where I have put the decorations... not that the maniac cat allows for a tree, but we do have other bits of tat and tinsel to spread around. It would be nice to put sparkly things on nice clean shelves etc rather than shoving them on top of the dust, but we shall have to see if I manage to find time to wave a duster and push a hoover around.

After a visit to Mum this morning I have spent the rest of the day trying to put some cards together...bit of a massive task but I think I have now broken the back of it. Most presents are sorted (thankfully) and if I can gather some enthusiasm I might even get the decorations up at some point (rather late this year).

how about two weeks off? I'm still making cards, most of the shopping is done, and just addressed the cards that need to go in the post this weekend. Phew...I think the end is near though!

Love your CAS card today!

I am reading your post and thinking well, at least I have sent my cars off... they do have to travel a bit further than the average... and then I read the bit about writing stuff in them... I can recall doing the addresses but for the life of me I cannot recall writing inside them... do you think they will figure it out from the postage stamp???

I am the same as you - still not 100% Christmas mode but I did manage a load of shopping over the weekend and I have about half of my cards done - I also like proper paper cards - emails and ecards just don't do anything for me!
Lots of hugs

Heh, heh, heh .... the combination of kids no longer living at homenand my trusty FlyLady (very personalised over the years) Cruise to Christmas Journal I am officially almost ready for Christmas. Cards sorted and posted, even the overseas ones (unheard of), all presents bought are wrapped, the decorations are up, the majority of the non-perishables food and drink bought, turkey ordered and just the fresh stuff left to buy - and all by the first weekend in December. WOOT!

Love the card :)

I too hit the shops with no ideas-but did surprisingly well and also had to resist all those things I would have liked to buy for me!
Love the card very elegant.

I seem to be doing everyone else xmas shopping at the moment and not my own! I had to venture into Swindon at the weekend as H had a half day and wanted to shop for her friends so spent 3 hrs looking for 2 presents (exactly the same so that counts as one in my books). I'm also with you on the cards I still like to receive them and give, but have noticed our list to send out too is getting smaller,Darren is quite ruthless and if you didn't send us one last year you don't get one this year!! Hugs Pam x

Such a pretty card here - love the circles and snowflakes and red and white. Your posts always leave me with a smile on my face Ms. Dunnit! You can take a simple shopping expedition and turn it into such a fun little bit of writing - of course whenever a Mr. is put into that mix it does add a bit of humor to the proper eye. My SIL has a sign in her craft room "Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden". Best thing she owns (besides my mother's furs!!!)
