What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 658

I’m fiddling about with posting times to shake the list order up a bit…no specific reason, but I’m thinking that the overseas Deskers might like it for a while. I don’t know, but I am open to comments!
Meanwhile, January is picking up a pace if you ask me. I’ve been making, forcing myself to address the birthday book so that I can prepare in advance. Or at least try, I really like to enjoy the making process and they’re easier to send. I do make in multiples - if I manage to get the idea from head to card and I like it,  I then send the original to the person I was originally making it for, and put a couple into the card drawer for panic requirements. You know.
I haven’t played with the now new-ish die yet. I moved instead to new stamps and spent a happy couple of hours last weekend plotting and planning and eventually, stamping and then spritzing. I used some Pixie Powders - had to take the seal off both the bottles. I don’t know when I bought them, but have silently promised that if I buy new ingredients for any technique, I will bring them home and at least try them before parking them on a shelf!
So that’s pretty much what’s going on at my desk, can’t tell you why it takes three pairs of scissors, or two glue types, but hey, it may just be the habit of reaching to the useful holder which is at left and should be at right, judging from where I leave everything! Again, comments welcome!
Show me yours then, it will help me enormously.

Well you’re the boss so anything you decide is fine by us, I’m sure! I always link with the best of intentions and if I don’t manage to visit the whole list as the first poster I feel guilty for snatching the spot! So drifting down the list is fine by me. I like your plan to use stuff as soon as it hits your desk, I do tend to do then as well but if I am then disappointed it goes in a drawer never to be seen again, hopefully I am better about researching stuff now an don’t make so many mistakes! I also have quite a stash of premade cards. That stash saves me when a birthday rolls around and I’m not up to making a card . Forward thinking, good planning, whatever, thank goodness for it lol!
Happy Woyww

I like you, am trying to get ahead of birthdays but have only a partial result that I am sharing today! I could do with making spares too for emergencies! I keep new stuff out until I've used it usually - which is why there is quite so much around the workspace..(I nearly said desk!!) I put the stamps in a spare box before Christmas... bet they never get used now! Helen #6

Morning Julia. Fine by me whatever time you post - I am a lark not an owl, so if you post after about 9.30 in the evening I wouldn't see it until 6 the next morning - which is fine as I would be lower down the list. I currently don't have a stash of cards - although I usually do. Last autumn cleared me right out... must get back to the desk soon!!
Take care. God bless.

I’m happy to go with the flow with when you post my dear friend. I’m just really glad you do so please don’t make it any more work than it is. It’s good to see you’ve been busy creating.. my mojo is on holiday so I’m just doing what needs doing and filling the rest of my time with sleep.
Hugs,
Annie x

Oh yeah mixing up the time is brilliant. I did take a peek before bed just in case (like I should have done last week!) but I guess I went to bed too early last night - a first. We've had a time shift in our house as our son started his new full time job this week so he needs to be up early every weekday, so the late nights/mornings have been reined in somewhat.
Anyway to the desk, thanks for the reminder of birthdays I had forgotten those. I was well aware that it was my estranged mother's yesterday but now that is over without a whisper I can think to the people who really care about me. Think I do the same if an idea works out well, so I make couple more for the card box. Or do extra die cuts.
I've not bought a new die in ages, is the one you are referring to top right? I really need to be enabled more in this department! Different scissors for different things defo - same with glue if you ask me but agree, useful holder most definitely should be on the right although I am still using my cuttlebug on the left and turning with left hand as the handle fits better over my desk rather than into it.
Oh look I've WOYWWed before my Bible study today but still have time for that before food shopping. BJ#11 (half of last weeks number yay :) )

When I made one for each member of our monthly club I started batch making so they all got the same. It was just easier. I do like your idea.
As for buying stuff for a technique goes - I used to buy something from a show that I liked and wanted to do, put it on the shelf and a year later (or more) wonder what on earth it was for. Ever done that?

Hi Julia, I like the Tuesday night thing. I was so pleased I thought I was first but then forgot to refresh.
I like to have a stock of cards for last minute birthdays too, but as I’m not a card maker, I buy therm from an artist in Northumberland, Rebecca Vincent.
If anyone on this blog has cards they’d like to sell, you could let me know.
Take care and happy WOYWW

Hi Julia, I always tend to make spares but I guess that's because I usually make cards with my Masterboards so if I don't use it up I end up with loads to store though that often comes in useful too. The cards aren't always identical though as I can't always remember who I sent them too and don't want them to get exactly the same card next time. Everything else you mention is exactly the same here and I think I am as much a collector of craft stuff as i am a user Lol! Look forward to seeing what your plans are for the linky. Happy WOYWW. Well done for getting on with making birthday cards. I have a few to do for January/February, and planning to tackle them on Sunday (otherwise it will be quick digital designs and a stamped sentiment). Pixie Powders - I love them, and haven't used mine for a while. I will put 30 minutes in my calendar for an extra crafty session, otherwise it won't happen. Ali x #14

I'm afraid I struggle through the year making cards as needed, usually too close to the deadline! I admire your organisational skills and starting this early. When my desk is reachable I plan to follow your example - of course it might not happen!
Hope you have a lovely week,

I think you maybe should put your useful tools receptacle to the right and see how you get on, lol! I do a few of a design, especially for blokes cards which Mr D will be receiving soon! Look forward to catching up soon,

Morning Julia! Well I am in my usual position so hasn't affected me much! Aspirations for being at the top of the list have faded over the years!! Totally with you on the batch making. If I've had to calculate mat sizes or fold lines it makes the mental effort worthwhile and if it's a technique then I get to practice!! Thank you for your visit last week - would love to chat!! Have a good week, Cindy #17

Good Morning!
Nice using stash and having the time to use it . . . .
Love the idea of copy catting the cards for the needacard box . . .
Seems like you're inspiring a fair few of us today.
Thanks
Have a good week

Good morning Julia, planning ahead is such a good idea, why don’t I actually do it? As is using stash before putting away, again, guilty of doing just that! Wishing you a happy WOYWW and a great week. Angela #4

Hi Julia! Still the same number as usual for me! Your desk looks nice and crafty. I like making extra cards as well to keep on hand, but I rarely like to make the same card twice. I should get over that! LOL! Have a great week, Lindart #21

I love the stamps and the colours on your desk. I like the idea of making extra cards, but I am not organised enough for this! Happy WOYWW. With love & God Bless, Caro xx (#16)

Hi Julia, no problem for me whatever time you post - I'm never likely to be No. 1 lol. I had a birthday diary many moons ago- I really should do another, as I now have so many nieces, nephews, in-laws, outlaws, you name it, I've got them! I think one of the multi media kits I bought would make a lovely birthday and address book! I like the idea of making a special card and then a few extra copies as spares. Erm, no idea why you need the extra scissors and glue, but the way I see it - if you have 2 pairs of scissors on your desk, then the chance of you finding them when you need them is doubled. I'm forever putting things down or away, and then forgetting where they are! Have a lovely week, hugs Heather xx #20

Struggling to cope right now but am attempting to plod on - managed the first few cards for the year but only because I was up against the clock … goes against the grain really as my cards for the whole year are usually made well before Christmas. But, hey-ho, just got to go with the flow.
So a very envious of your wonderfully creative desk! Xxx
