What’s On Your a Workdesk? Wednesday 598

Chicago is six hours behind GMT Lulu, so does that help? gentle Deskers, if you haven’t yet seen it, there’s a post below this one that explains some of the procedures for our WOYWW Crop on December 5th. There will be another post to clear up a couple of things that have come up, I’ll point you to it when it happens.
Meanwhile....I had a moment of decision. Cleaned up a bit, stopped faffing and got on with some stuff.
In truth, I had a flip through the work diary and realised that I don’t have as long as I thought. Till anything. So I had a word, and now I’ve got all sorts on the go. I took this photo on Tuesday morning at about 10. I took the picture so early because I knew I wouldn’t spend so much as a minute at the desk before today.
You can see, I’ve made a couple of cards featuring die cuts. I’ve lent ALL my Christmas stamps to a friend for a few days, so I was forced to use something else, a good exercise actually. The brush ink pen thingys (like Wink of Stella in colours) are strewn all over the desk because I used them to colour in a whole bunch of Janet Klein images ... you can’t actually see them but they are on the white card slightly under the heat gun. I stamped a load on a sheet of A4, fully intending to use the Scan & Cut to cut them out. And I forgot, coloured them in and cut them into pieces to cut out individually. Can you believe that. Oh well, it’s all therapy, innit. See the black ink pad which appears to be floating on the iPad stand? clever huh! I was video chatting to my sisters and auntie. My iPad leans back on the stand and gives a view of double chins and up my nose. So I dropped the ink pad behind it to make it sit up straight. And it still hasn’t fallen out of place! Probably make me jump out of my skin when it does!
Your turn then, show and tell do, that would be great.

I'm trying to think how I can set up to join in the virtual crop as I certainly don't want to miss it... thinking will go the browser way as the computer screen is bigger and it stands up on it's own unlike my phone!
Well done for making C cards without C stamps!

Lol! Seems like an iPad stand should be on your shopping list. Lovely cards and so kind if you to lend your stamps out. And it’s OK, as you proved, because we desires are not only a crafty lot but a resourceful lot!

Taken note of the Zoom info and plan to test a set up for the day...Soon.

Happy Woyww

I love die cutting Julia, so lending my Christmas stamps to a friend really wouldn't be a hardship for me, but it was really kind of you to lend yours.
I know what you mean about cameras looking up your nose... yesterday I had to do a video of myself singing some carols to send to be added to my choir's rendition for the Portsmouth Hub. Some choir members managed to do an ensemble recording on evening the before the lockdown started, but those not there had to do their lines separately to be added later. I had my phone balanced on my husband's iPad on a little easel, which was standing on a small wooden sewing box, (standing on its side to make it a bit taller, with lots of the contents falling out). In the end it looked as though I had the light fitting sticking out of the top of my head!
Have a great day!

I can't see the black inkpad (bleary eyed still) but I can see a ghost with a blue button on his middle.
Afraid if I loaned all my Christmas stamps to someone I would just sit and moan that I could not make cards.
Why can I not get in the mood? Is it tie to get the tree down from the loft?
Hugs, Neet 10 xx

I've always preferred die-cuts to stamps - stamps freak me out (unless they're just for a messy background) - there's too much risk involved (incomplete impressions, smudges, etc) - you can't go wrong with die-cuts! Well done for getting ahead in the card-making game - I hope the "word" you had with yourself wasn't too harsh LOL! Just thinking of the Zoom meet-up - it has occurred to me that the free accounts are limited to just 40 minutes duration - if you need to upgrade, I'm sure we can put the money together, just let us know! xx (I have yet to throw my post together but I'm on it!)

So looking forward to the zoom, with a bit of luck I might be able to make at least some of both sessions. I had to laugh at the 'up the nose' double chins' thing with videos- I have been recording sermons etc for church and have exactly the same issue - the other one is either down the cleavage (if I have a lower cut top) or mahoosive bosom taking up the majority of the screen. It is a fine art to remove boobs, nasal passages and double chins and look half-way decent on these things! I have given up for teaching purposes, but for video recordings I make more of an effort! Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe, with love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#13)

I'm looking forward to the zoom but still haven't got round to checking whether my laptop can do it. I know I've had plenty of time but just had a few distractions lately both family and in the cabin as you will see later. I promise to check it out this week cos you're right the time is running out for everything. It's felt like a long year somehow but now it's moving along so better get my act together. Well done in getting some cards made though I can't imagine what you were thinking about letting someone have all your C. stamps at this time of the year, you're just too kind. Happy woyww, Angela x14x

Hope the Halfords trip is successful! We went to Swansea for the car’s mot yesterday and had a romantic coffee in McDonalds while we were waiting. After sanitising, contact tracing, being shown to a distanced table....ah, it was a heady 30 minutes and made me realise why we haven’t bothered with pins etc up to now.....
Like the clock face card on your desk, that’s fun. You made me laugh forgetting the scan n cut though, cutting out is therapeutic anyway!

Oooh seriously impressed you lending ALL the xmas stamps to a mate, mind you the positive is thinking outside the box and it looks like it worked. Love the workaround with the ink pad on the ipad stand, on a "teams" video chat with work the other day I had my phone propped on my stamp box and leaning on a glue stick, perfect angle!!! Crafters tend to be the mother of all inventors!!

Looking forward to the zoom catch up too

Hi Julia, I love reading your posts. There's always something that makes me chuckle. Today's was the double chins view on video calls. I havent yet read details of the Zoom crop, I'll do that when I get a coffee break - but I would love to join if I can. I've a couple of things to crack on with before I get stuck into Christmas cards, but my Christmas stamps are all in one album now, so it should (!) make it easier for me to decide what to use. Yeah right, who am I kidding. I'll be zooming round desks looking for inspiration as usual. I'm the same with my Scan & Cut - when my hand starts aching from hand cutting, I think ... oooh I should have used ... I aim to have some practice sessions over Christmas with it, so I get full use of it. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #22

Hi Julia, no link from me this week, guess what- I'm back in UTI land! Been wiped off my feet since Saturday, so nothing happening desk wise. Any wise actually, in fact the only thing achieved has been so much sleep I might as well call it hibernation. Going to go read the Zoom post now.Liking the die cut cards, and smiling at your cutting fail, just the sort of thing I'd do. Stay safe, love & hugs. Shaz XxXxXx

Happy WOYWW. I managed to get my post typed before lunch! Lovely festive desk. I have started making some Christmas ATCs, but still no inclination to get any more cards made. I think it will be charity cards again this year. Have replied separately on your Crop post. Plan to be at both sessions - with cake! Ali x

That floating ink pad is kind of spooky! Looks like you've had a lovely creative week, and going outside the box because you have no Christmas stamps for a few days is wonderfully challenging! I may try it! Have a great week, Lindart #29

Hi Julia, I put the zoom app in my phone but, there are no guarantees that I will have real internet at the house when this happens as of yet, I still do not have a install date for the fiber line. Will cross my fingers. I love that you are making your cards. Stacy #29

I love your tip about the iPad. Yes, I hate being on those Zoom calls and all I notice is how awful I look. LOL. While everyone else looks great. I love your color assortment of all the glitter pens. I have a few and I use them a lot. In fact, I probably need to get more...thanks for the enabling! I’m looking forward to reading more about the December 5th crop. Have a great week

Hi Julia, I'd love to join in the Zoom crop but, sadly, I don't have the right technology. But I will enjoy hearing all about afterwards, I'm sure. In the meantime, like you I'm planning on doing a bit of die-cutting and cardmaking, and maybe some tidying up too. Have a good week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #27

Like you, I am looking to find a better way of displaying my face before the Zoom meeting, Julia - I just can't stand seeing myself on camera! I look quite different in the mirror - somehow my awful sagging face and neck look better there! A lot of it is due to my having lost so much weight but this past year I seem to have aged ten!!! Thank you for your comment and I'm glad you like the final carpet. I've still got a lot of work to do to complete the project before the beginning of December, though. I agree with you that although my new glasses aren't too different from the old ones, they are a bit more up to date!

Happy WOYWW,

Julia, I NEVER have as long as I thought to do ANYTHING!!! If I look deep enough, I would probably see that, that is a problem!!!! LOL Score one for procrastination!!! LOL I LOVE the makings of the one card on the top that we can see and how clever of you to use the stamp pad for your Zoom aid....the only trouble with me on that one is that I would then forget where I put said ink pad and look all over for it!!! LOLOL I hope I can make the Zoom meeting. Not sure as of yet, but fingers crossed!! Happy Wednesday and rest of your week! :) Blessings, Felicia #32

Lovely die cuts, Julia-I am waiting on a new plate for my Gemini as the current one is so warped that it’s a damger to the machine. I am really lloking forward to seeing us all in December. We are fully locked down here for three weeks from Friday having been partially grounded for anout a month now. I must find some crafting mojo soon. Take care.

Like your cards especially the clock one. Unfortunately I haven't got a die cutter so have to cut all mine out by hand.
Would love to join in with the zoom that is if I can understand all instructions, I have zoom that my daughter installed for a get together on her 50th she talked me through it via a video call on the phone. So watch this space. Ani #5
