What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 573

Congratulations one and all, last week was a triumph, what a great way to mark our eleventh anniversary! Loved seeing and reading the stories behind some very old, not so old and new intentions that IWOYWWs anniversary may have pushed you into! I admire you all enormously for making and then taking the time, thank you. And I hope you all feel really good about yourselves for the achievement!
Talking of achievement, my desk was tidied ready for a card making day (mindful of the UFO snowmen, see), but I didn’t get to them. Shopkeeper Gal has been working really hard creating workshops and delivering or posting them, so I went through my most recent delivery to ‘do’ the cards and have the nice surprise of discovering what I’d ordered to go along with the workshop! That’s that thing about seeing good samples and delivery to your door...you just say yes and forget about it till it arrives! There were three dies, so I had a pang of guilt about that for a couple of minutes and resolved to do some extra housework. You can see my newly altered bin, in full use. The smaller pot with the feathers on is already getting on my nerves because since I untangled the spare die cuts and put them into a little photo album, (thank you for the idea, Kelly, you genius gal), I don’t need it so much. Watch that space! There’s a large scallop shape at the far end of the table which is an ‘edger’ shaper from Bramble Fox, also new. I know, now you’re starting to feel a bit embarrassed for me aren’t you, the guilt is appalling. It will stop soon, I shall need all my spending money for when the hairdressers are allowed to re-open!
Please join us in a look at busy desks here and there. Put WOYWW in your post title, link your post here and put the kettle on. I wonder if we’ll still be doing this in another handful of years!

I think a little retail therapy is no bad thing, says she who may have indulged in a fabric frenzy yesterday evening, cough..... Glad Tracey's managing to keep the workshops going ok, I feel for all small shopkeepers at the moment.
Last week was a lot of fun and nice to do something different to celebrate!

Morning Julia. Read your last post whilst waiting - glad there are aspects of all this you are really enjoying!! Me too! A lovely tidy desk - I, too, have bought a few bits... but you'll use them all I'm sure. I do agree - hairdresser - and chiropodist!!
Take care of yourselves. Stay safe. God bless.

Happy WOYWW. It is a sunny one and now I can see how dirty our windows are getting! Great to see the big new altered bin in use. I have promised myself that I will have a no-spend June, after clearing out my bank account this month. That gives me 4 days to get online and order the supplies I need for projects (some clear gesso for a virtual Bible Journaling event on Saturday and a couple of embossing folders)! Ali x #3

What a happy week it was last week Julia. A triumph all round I thought. Everyone embraced it. Thank you, you are a lifeline and thank you for your beautiful comments about my blog posts. You’ll never know how much it meant xxx

I spent over £100 on a full set of 120 Faber Castell Albrecht Duerer watercolour pencils this week so I can't complain about retail therapy (less than £1 a pencil though so couldn't resist the 30% off). I did almost choke on my apple when I read your comment about hairdressers though Julia. I do hope that we can manage a get together of some sort later this year to mark the anniversary. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #7

Like you, my hair is getting pretty desperate but I’ve managed to not take the scissors to it....yet. I really enjoyed last week so a huge pat on the back to you for the encouragement to do it and for being the guiding hand each Wednesday....long may it continue.
Big hugs,
Annie x

Gosh that's some tidy desk going on there!
Just clocked your previous post with the scrapbook pages they are delightful. Just realising I'm nearly out of Basic Grey papers, you know the plain but textured ones. BJ#11

I was beginning to feel the need for a little retail therapy myself until I realised that the results of the last splurge still haven't been used. I like your rationale though, so I shall try and fit in the ironing today and maybe then I'll feel better about it!! 11 years is such an amzing achievement and certainly interesting to see what people had been persuaded to drag out of hiding. Happy WOYWW, Stay well, stay safe, Cindy #14.

Well I for one will keep going as long as I can craft.
Don't blame you for the spending - I have spending fever I think - all thanks to these "Lives" I keep watching. I excuse myself in that I a not spending on the chiropractor or podiatry but will hopefully soon be spending on both again. As for the hairdresser I have already bought vouchers to secure me an early appointment when they reopen - not that I want to go in some ways as I am getting too used to this isolation. Mind you I am beginning to look like Hagrid (minus the hair fuzz of course).
Hugs, Neet 9 xx

Oh Julia, so tidy, i'm not showing my *REAL* desk area today, we all have enough stress in our lives to take in any extra from me!! We all deserve some retail therapy we've been doing a great job keeping it all together but like you my savings have been dipped into a bit too much recently, i'll never get my garden finished at this rate. I'm so glad to see at least one newly transformed pot is being put to good use, now that's a good feeling indeed.

Hi Julia, if you can't spoil yourself a bit at the moment when can you. We all need some happy mail at the moment. Maybe by the time we get to the hairdressers the hair will be so long that we could sell it to the wig makers and make money on it. Still the amount I've saved on not going means I have more for the crafting Lol! Have a lovely woyww and happy crafting with the new stash, Angela x19x

A little bit of retail therapy does us all good now and again - how lovely that you've got three new dies to play with. Had to laugh at the hairdresser comment - in desperation I took the scissors to mine a few weeks ago -did each side (and actually got them about level) then realised I had to get Ian to do the back - it was a laugh if nothing else!
Have a lovely week,

Hello! I'm back!! I "think" I have done it right but I'll wait to see some comments before I can relax that people are not being bounced out or seeing something they're not expecting. That sounded ruder than I thought... I'm intrigued by the untangling of die cuts so I shall have to go back to previous desk hops to find out more. I do like the idea of a small photo album for keeping them in though... hmmm... that's got the coggs a-whirring!

If you feel guilty , I need to be locked up!!! All this extra time has turned me into a shopaholic. Its so frustrating as I used to be a hairdresser and do trim my fringe but cant do the back - I used to make hubby do it but his arthritis is so bad now, his fingers dont fit in the scissors- I will have to wait like everyone else. have a lovely week. Morning Julia, for once, I can say there isn't a hint of an enable on my desk! But that edger die does look interesting. :) I took to storing my spare die cuts in those currency etc storage pockets in a binder- tidy and out of the way. So out of the way, I always forget to check them before I cut another. Good to hear you are meeting up online with the Craft Coven, at least thats one good thing from all this. Love & hugs to you both, Stay safe, Shaz #17 XxXxXx

Well, look at it this way. ( you would have spent the money at the salon anyways right? which means there used to be a budget for such things and you had a surplus to get those dies... enjoy them Julia) :) (someday the hairdressers will be back to work.) my cousin is one who during all this bought a house in a different state ( she has lived in LA her whole life ) and has moved her family to Arizona and she even gets to go to work there in one more day) she is pretty excited about it.
I am trying to think of what I would put in that little container and I think it would probably be scraps that I had stamped sentiments onto and die cut or slim scraps that I had diecut into sentiment strips or tags. ( I tend to stamp first and cut second to get them straight) but, I really have jello molds of both versions of what I just said on the table all the time. just a thought, ~Stacy #32

As long as you are hosting, I will continue so I see a bright future for our group. Last week was a lot of fun and proves I can tackle my UFOs one project at a time. Your new goodies are looking tempting. I have some new goodies arriving on Saturday. I definitely think this pandemic has increased my craft supply budget. If I could only close my eyes when I go online, then maybe the temptations will vanish!! Stay well my friend.

I'm still working my way around visiting. After the mess I had yesterday (kitchen drain barely working, getting a plumber, cleaning up after him, and more), whew! Anyway...
I'm sure you'll find a use the the smaller altered bin. Maybe to hold stuff out of your way until they can be put away??
I think most of us are waiting for the salons to open. I think ours are but I haven't had the time to check any out.
Thanks for being such a great hostess!!

Thanks for your comments and sorry to scare you all!

A remarkably tidy desk this week, Julia! Last week you really started something. I feel quite fired up to work on my UFOs now. The only drawback is that there is more clutter than ever in the sitting room!! If my hubby complains, I shall know who to blame. Thank you for your visit, and I'm glad you liked my wedding dress. You are right about the knitting - it would have been a continual niggle that I couldn't have lived with, and I'm so glad I redid it. It's looking great now. Today I picked up the stitches for the neck and that's really great too - just how I wanted it! Now I can get cracking on the sleeves. I may work on a couple of UFOs before embarking on that, though.

Nice to know someone else grows pea shoots too. I do the rotation thing with my sprouts, and now I know the peas work OK, I'm going to be doing that as well. My white chalk marker is very useful for scribblng the date on the side of the trays so I can keep track. We're having sprouts or shoots on our salads most days at the moment. Very nutritious as well as delicious!

Happy belated WOYWW,

Blame it on these strange times Julia, even I purchased materials! It's the virus... yah! Overhere, hairdressers are open and I realy NEED to have a haircut, I just wait a little longer untill everybody's been there, it's major busy right now! I can manage with an elastic band a little longer... Sorry for being so late this week, happy woyww and happy weekend! Love from Holland, Marit #25
