What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 567

I expect the way the numbers fall for this week is pleasing for Jan. She likes that sort of thing. I spent all of yesterday afternoon with The Coven, via Zoom. I only made one scrapboook page because I wasn’t really ready, so in the end I went back to scraps and card making. What did I make? A mess!
All my scrap stash boxes are open and piled on the left as they were last week. You can see from the working space that I’ve used a Distress Stain to colour one of the snarky comment stickers - trying to use the least offensive! Distress Stain.....I felt like I was doing retro crafting! I really must get back to some proper, ink-on-paper stuff. Let’s face it, there’ll never be a better time! Meanwhile, lemme talk you through a couple of newbies on my desk. Lookit, lookit, I’ve got the most fab little Polaroid type camera. It was a Christmas present from my Sissy and till today I’ve been ridiculously mean about taking pics. Only ten in a cartridge which isn’t cheap, huh! But yesterday I downloaded a cut file from Paige Evans that I thought I could use today, with 2 or 3 of these little photos showing life in quarantine. but I took rubbish photos. Really. So now I’m waiting for Paige to come up with a suitable cut file for them. You can also see my coffee stained drinking vessel, in front of the cylinder bin thing. I like to put my cup there because it lessens the chance of spills in that sort of ‘cage’ arrangement. No spills today, but a lot of little bits of paper and tape peelings ended up in it...should have moved the bin forward! Now I have tidying up agony. Year end and a strange form from the Office of National Statistics that I have to fill in before May means that I’ve got to get into normal work mode. When I eventually go upstairs to shower and dress this morning, I may have to put on a suit!

Before I ask you to blog, join in, link, please can you join me in sending healing vibes and frankly, whatever it takes to recover, to a couple of deskers who are suffering from COVID19. Christine will tell you how awful it is, she’s recovering. Love and strength in waves to all.

Now. Please blog, join in, link. See you at your place. Actually, even if you don’t want to join in, perhaps just leave me a comment to say you’re well? Thanks!!

Glad to hear that you are well and still crafting Julia. Hope that form from the ONS doesn't take too much time away from things and that you get to grips with the camera. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #7

Morning Julia. My word - you were having fun, weren't you? Continue to enjoy, looking back with older techniques, and looking forward with inventing new ones!! My prayer go out for those suffering with this virus. May God grant them His peace in it, and His healing from it!
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

Yes, sending love to those deskers suffering - and prayers for a quick recovery.
As soon as you talked about a 'cut file' from Paige you had me lost. I haven't a clue about such things but they sound useful and interesting. I cope more with the bits that fall in coffee cups although I don't actually drink it - am a fruit tea/tessanne type of girl (slight exaggeration on the 'girl' bit).
Have a good week ad stay safe and well.

I’m sending good vibes out to all of our gang and hoping we all get through relatively unscathed.
I’m impressed with your Zoom gathering. I’ve done a Pilates class via Zoom but that’s all. I think it’s something I need to look at more. I’m not brilliantly technical but Philip says I’m very persistent and stick at it until I get there. The younger generation would have it cracked in a second, whereas me you could be looking at hours and days.
Stay safe lovely Julia xx

Work mode, crafting mode, cleaning mode - I think we are all struggling to find a new normal. For me it seems to be PJs until lunchtime but I'm trying to change that (though arguably there is not much difference between PJs and my standard leggings and jumper attire). I am loving time in my craft room though, the absolute lack of pressure is,for once, having a good effect on me and I haven't descended into apathy yet. I too can make a mess, if not much else. Good to hear you are well and will certainly check on Chris on my rounds. Horrible, horrible disease. Have a good woyww, Cindy #12

Love and all good wishes for a speedy recovery to all who have been touched by this dreadful virus. We are in a little social distancing bubble yet still folks are going down with the bug. Stay safe all. I chuckled at the thought that you might need to pop your suit on Julia - maybe we should all be dressing for the occasion so, to visit the desks for commenting this week I will mostly be wearing my birthday suit - NO I mean the suit that I wore on my birthday!!!lol xxxx Jo #13

Glad you are staying safe and well and getting to do interesting things like Zoom - I've never tried it but I'm now on Whatsapp which is quite an achievement for me considering how un tech savvy I am!
Sending lots of positive vibes and good wishes to all who are affected by this terrible virus.

Messy is good, especially if you've actually made something. Not sure what Zoom is and will have to google it. Now you go and get your suit on it might make you feel that life is a bit more normal for a short time though to be honest I didn't know you ever had to wear one, pleased I don't any more. Take care and have fun getting everything back in order or not if you don't feel like it at least it's only us that know about the mess. Happy woyww, Angela x17x

Oh you know me so well! I did a little happy dance when I saw they were consecutive numbers, a small thing but pleasing! Glad you had a good time with the Coven, you certainly made your desk a 'busy' place Ina short space of time, lol.
Thinking of everyone who's poorly with the disease, you wish you could do something to help and feel bad cos you can't.

I tried a Bible Journaling session via Zoom but didn't quite get the hang of it, being via zoom nor the journaling!!! Oh the pink camera is rather cute shame the cartridges aren't so! Not sure what the "cut file" is though, might need to google that! The stats form sounds intriguing and yes I too like the number run today :) Two weeks in a row now, I amaze myself BJ#20

hoping all fellow deskers are well - i imagine we all know someone now who has had or got this dreadful virus. Thank heavens for being able to be creative and, take our minds elsewhere for a little while. You desk looks busy. I bought my daughter one of those cameras a few years ago - I guess i could get her some more film - especially as she is keeping a diary.
Take care and keep safe Soojay#19

Hi Julia, bet my mess is bigger than yours! lol.Totally have to have a safe space for coffee- most important crafting item. And yes, I drop tape peelings all over the desk too- mainly cos I'm right handed, and my bin is on the left! All well here at the moment, I'm not leaving the house, and Doug goes out once a week to get stuff we need.He has disposable gloves, and a face mask with filters he'd bought for DIY,good job he bought spare filters with it when he got it, looking online the other day, expected delivery date for any ordered is July. Love and hugs to you both, Stay safe, Shaz #8 xXXXXx

Thank you for the mention, slow going but I was warned that the virus will return after a few weeks, thank goodness not all the symptoms at the same time. I pray that this virus wears itself out soon...
Fascinating desk. Didn't expect that word to be used did you?!! I enjoyed roving around, almost as good as a walk outside!!
Enjoy the week and stay safe

Oh dear Julia so sorry to read Christine has it and some other WOYWWers too, so sad to hear that!
.. will be praying it is a grievous thing indeed... so much loss everywhere. Make me sad too when go walking to post office at Jetty and go past closed sad looking businesses. Pray for them to that they will recover as I walk past, our government is doing a really good job in ought of everything and our numbers are good thus far, most cases have come from overseas or cruise ships bought many an doost a large number of our quota. Pray no WOYWWers are really ill.
I agree re the greetings some are funny but not really nice... I wonder if they’d make a group greeting background on a card and a suggestion to “take your pick” or some such or just cover up the offensive ones and leave smiley ones on view. It’s liek some Stamos images I find kooky, a bit too kooky. I don’t do kooky. All tastes!
I had a huge chuckle at the Polaroid! Wonderful gift .. pray the three Covid image shows can be rescued for a page to scrap!
Best go Julia, dear pal, nearly 10:30pm here. Don’t understand where a day goes!
Thanks for being a blessing, and may God bless you and all Whom you love, too, especially in these troubled times, may we look up in faith! Praying you’re all kept well too!

Hello Julia, healing thoughts and prayers to all our fellow WOYWW crafters. I looked up "The Coven" to see what that was. A film; a restaurant; or an interesting site - a community and coworking space for women who support one another through leadership, organization and advocacy? I heard there were several problems with Zoom, with the feed being hacked and pornographic pictures being posted! We have a BT engineer in the house at the moment as there is also a problem with old internet wiring apparently. So much for self isolating! Stay safe x Angela #24

good morning, Miss Julia.
Reporting in, finally. Love the camera. I've looked at them then wondered if I'd really use one. Probably if I still had kids at home or daycare. All quiet here since we retired 12 years ago.
Will definitely send prayers and healing hugs to our deskers... all of us as we get through this. We WILL get through this. Hugs & Creative Blessings! Kelly #26ish

HI Julia, so sorry to hear about the deskers who have the virus. Sending lots of love across the pond for their speedy recovery.
Have fun with your little camera! I have a Kodak mini-printer I use for photos in my journal, also expensive pics so I use sparingly.
Stay well, stay safe, Lindart #28

Hi Julia, I love the sparkly- mermaid sequins I see below the desk, are you working on a secret stitched piece? ( pretty colors ) :) ~Stacy #30

PS I have that exact same camera, same color too and it is fun. ( you can find different colors of frames for them to print on at Amazon too.) sometimes the local sell a little of everything type stores put the film on sale. just a random thought.

We are well here also. Thoughts and prayers to those who are fighting the vicious virus!

Desk looks great Julia! Productive! Tape peelings and paper bits sound like "mountain spice" to me! Fiber right?

Don't know about Zoom either. Just heard mention of it a couple of days ago. Just barely able to Skype and FaceTime as our internet is so poor.

Take care of yourselves, stay safe!

WOYWW is such a good place to support each other and to send good wishes and prayers for all who are suffering the lurgy, or who are anxious about the lockdown. We are all one big family! A busy desk as usual, Julia, and what a cute pink camera! Thank you for visiting, and I'm pleased you like my little mandala and Celtic knot colourings.

As for the banana curry, it's absolutely delicious and really easy to make, too. I asked my hubby to let me see his Slimming World book so I could work out the syns for the recipe. I made it oil-free and used maple syrup instead of golden syrup, which of course would reduce the syns, and if you used dairy- and fat-free yoghurt instead of the yoghurt I used (made with semi-skimmed milk) it would come down again. The total syns by my reckoning, taking these things into account, comes out at 3 per serving. The cashews are the main culprit. You could omit them, but I do like the texture, and nuts are very good for you, in moderation, and 25g for 4 people really isn't too bad. Most of the ingredients are "free." Best served with brown, rather than white rice, for satiety and weight loss. When I make this again, I think I'll leave out the fresh coriander, because I'm not over-keen on the flavour. I hope you give it a try! All the Co-op food magazines are available on their website, which is great.

Stay safe and well, and happy WOYWW,
Shoshi #1 (only by dint of having had such a bad night, and being awake really early for me, and hovering over my iPad, drinking tea in bed till you opened up shop!!)

Cut file and Paige you are talking a foreign language to me just like my daughter who is going to arrange Zoom on her 50th birthday. Oh well I suppose that's what I get living in a rather backward area of Spain. Wishing that you and your family keep safe and well. Ani #15

Happy WOYWW, and my thoughts/prayers are with anyone who is affected by this nasty virus. All ok here. My elderly mum, who lives alone in Oxfordshire, is my main worry, but she is keeping herself busy with watching DVDs/being on the phone most of the day! Loving the pink camera. I have had one of those on my Amazon Wish List for a few years. Yes, an expensive way of printing photos, but very cute. I treated myself to one of those little printers that connect up via bluetooth. Not got it out of the box yet (it arrived just before Lockdown started), but will do so this week and show results next Wednesday. I seem to be on Zoom or an equivalent most days. Instagram has made me more confident about being on video (I do video stories quite often), and usually our wifi behaves itself, so I am quite enjoying having more interaction with the outside world than usual (very different to most people).
