What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 569

My desk is busy but to be honest, it doesn’t look very different to last week. It’s covered in scrapbooking stuff and apart from the page that I’m working on, I don’t know if you could tell the difference. So I thought you’d like to see another surface that we’re both using for pretty much everything except it’s intended use. This is the island in the new kitchen. You can see, I’m using it to sort and select photos and also as (temporary) home for my Big Shot and die folder. The torch and livid pink string and other bits and pieces are from Mr Dunnit’s tool box and are in constant use between cup of tea time and sitting down to supper. Lockdown means that the final pieces of work that were to completed by electrician and plumber have had to be postponed and it’s starting to frustrate him. So he’s been doing as much as he possibly can to be absolutely ready...for example, the cupboard under the sink has to house the ‘box’ that will heat the water to one of those fancy taps that delivers boiling water as well as hot and cold. Well, he’s cut a hole in the base of the cupboard to drop the box into so that it doesn’t impede the waste pipe plumbing or the fitting of a centre height shelf. Loads of things like that. You know, stuff that might slow the final plumbing down. So hey, we’re sharing a workspace!
Now, please share your workspace...it’s interesting! And if you can’t/don’t want to, it would be lovely if you would just leave a comment so we know you’re OK. Ta.

Happy WOYWW. No.1 again! You must be waiting for me to finish typing my post? Now I want to see more of the new kitchen. What colour are the doors? Looks lovely in the background. Well done for doing a scrap page. I did actually do one digitally, but the plans to get some paper pages in the book hasn't happened yet. Ali x #1 (ps I wanted one of those fancy taps, but we ran out of budget due to my expensive ovens!)

I was dozing on the sofa! Glad that Mr D is getting as much done as he can... must be so frustrating for you both to be stalled with the work! Loving the temporary workspace. Have a good week, stay safe. Helen #4

Morning Julia - ooo, there's posh! A fancy tap. You must let me know (when you finally get it) how it behaves! I like the fact that you keep wandering around your house to different desks - enjoy them all!"
Take care girl. Stay safe. God bless.

Must be most frustrating all round to be mid job Julia. Nice to be working in the same space and have each other for company though. Hope things are such that you will be able to get stuff finished soon. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #2

Ohhh your new kitchen is looking stunning. love the bench tops, colours and sounds like a whiz bang tap. Sympathise with Mr. D we are in the process of having a new shower screen and regrouting in the bathroom. Still waiting patiently for the fellow to slot us in to his limited schedule. Always lovely to see your LO pages.
Stay safe and thank you for keeping us all connected.

I’m not sure I could bear to share a work desk with my hubby! Your poor hubby, I can understand how frustrating it must be to get so far with the kitchen and then have to stop. You both must be longing for it to be finished, and at least you’ve still got the old one to use in the meantime. It would be totally awful to be left without a working kitchen during the lockdown... It is all looking amazing. We’ve got a boiling water tap (one of the earlier models, that only does boiling, not hot and cold as well) and it’s fabulous. When people come and don’t see a kettle on the counter, they are mystified! It is a brilliant addition to the kitchen, as I am sure you will realise once you are up and running in there. In the meantime it’s useful to have another surface to spread onto!!

Happy WOYWW,

You will regret getting one of those hot taps! It makes you lazy when you have to use a kettle at someone else's house. Only kidding about regret - I love ours, the best thing we ever did. You will love it. Annoys me waiting for the kettle to boil at the caravan - but don't have that problem at the moment, can't use the caravan.
Loving the island - glad you are like me and spreading all over the house - makes me feel so much better about me being in several rooms. Also love that pink string,, have only ever seen it in .. errr ... string colour.
Take care,, have a good week and find a plumber who has been tested (read yesterday there is a move to get tradesmen tested) so you can have that tap.
Hugs, Neet 8 xxxx

Frustrating I know but it will get done eventually. My nephew was supposed to have exchanged contracts and moved by now but it's all still up in the air. As long as you're safe and well.

Everything seems to be on hold at the moment but at least we can distract ourselves with the crafting. At least you have some kitchen and a kettle it would have been awful if they had only just started. Take care and have a happy woyww, Angela x15x

Good Morning Julia, now that's real love sharing a work space there must be never a cross word said in your house or is the vivid pink string there to mark out a his & hers area on that space hee heee... all said and done waiting for the last bits n bobs to be finished it's looking magnificent, I think if I had room for an island in my kitchen it would be full of crafty inedible things.. Lovely space enjoy the before & after & take good care Hugs Tracey #14 xx

Oh lovely kitchen and great that it will be super ready for the final bits to slot into place as and when. Love your page, I rarely so a single photo page as I'm always trying to fit as many photos in as poss as my scrapping is documenting day to day life but maybe I'll make an exception. BJ#17

Morning Julia! I'm liking these sneaky peeks of your kitchen - looking rather good! I don't think I could be trusted with an island unit, it would be full of my stuff in no time at all!! I cab totally understand hubby's frustration - and yours I guess - when doing such disruptive work there comes a time when you just want it to be finished so you can enjoy it 'new' if that makes sense. It took us a year to finalise the last thing in your re-vamped bathroom - by then I had started to notice all the things that are already looking tired!! Promising looking LO, I really wish I had the patience to scrap. Happy WOYWW, stay well, stay safe, Cindy #18

Good morning Julia
I’m mightily impressed that you are having one of those fancy hot water tap thingies. We should have one in our house with all the tea drinking that goes on. The wandering welder fills the kettle that full I can’t even lift it. Perhaps he’s practicing his weight training haha.
Take care lovely Julia xx. 19

Ooh I love your work tops - that wood grain is gorgeous. So frustrating having to wait but hopefully not for too much longer. The desk sharing would be challenging for me as I hate having anything out on my desk if I can help it and Ian never puts anything away when he's used it!
Stay safe and well,

ooo I wish my hubby was as handy - we get someone in for anything, except decorating and I do that. I can imagine that it is SO frustrating for hubby to have to wait though.

Hello lovely lady! I know it's been a while since I joined in. All ok here. Me and Keagan have been shut away since just before official lockdown. Keagan's boss agreed it was the right thing for Keagan to stay home to shield me and reduce the worry of Keagan possibly bringing the virus home. Luckily my brother is on the doorstep to bring us and our parent's supplies. Desk looks great - loving the pages. Glad you're ok and finding things to do. Take care Zoe xx

I used to share a workdesk with PJ, he has migrated to the small room (he calls it the 'cell' cos it's 6ft square!) and I have the whole of the workdesk to myself .... I don't know how I only have two foot useable space! lol
I hope you are keeping well, we are fine at the moment but I don't go round telling everyone! Can't wait to be able to meet up with folks properly, last week's venture out to the warehouse was a bit frightening although it was good inside, no trolley bashing!
enjoy your week

Hi Julia, it's sounding good! We're fine, all's good. Just having problems with my right shoulder- the one I broke a few years ago, every now & again it starts to ache and gets quite painful, so just resting it in the hope it clears up. Stay safe, love & hugs to you both. XxXxXx

Julia, I love hearing and seeing your renovations. We have some that we need to do this summer but we will have to wait and see. We also need to repaint our living room and kitchen. That we can do so maybe we can start tackling that. The problem is that I have no idea what color to pick for my kitchen. It was supposed to be a cream color but over the years, it has started to look yellow!! I will have to test some colors out on the wall. My husband is also very handy, so he can do a lot of stuff like your husband, but it's just finding the time after work.
I like that shot of your layout. It looks fabulous on the island. I am always inspired by you. Are you doing another WOYWW anniversary exchange? Let me know when it is so I can see if I can participate. Stay well, my friend.

Julia - I didn't have to cut out those little birds. They are a kit and come ready cut from Tando. It's thick greyboard so it would be hard to cut, especially those little eyes.

I love the grain of your new kitchen island and would love to look round the rest of the kitchen at some point. So frustrating for you both that it can't be finished yet. Stay safe my friend. Happy WOYWW. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx

Hi Julia, just popping in to say hi, I have nothing on my desk to show today. Both my desks are full of work stuff at the moment, trying to get lots done before I have a week off next week. Your kitchen looks fab, I've always wanted an island ... but would need an extension before I could get one, and I don't think Mr M is too keen on that idea. I have a different fancy tap - mine has a Brita filter tap attached to it. Have a lovely week, and I'll def be back next week. Take care, Heather xx

Thanks for your visit, Julia, and I'm glad you like how the drawings have worked as cards. I am pleased with how they turned out. It is high time I got to the bottom of a huge stack of paper and card that I don't like! I bought a lot when I first started and didn't really know then what I wanted to do, and at various times, people have given me more bits and pieces. Being such a hoarder I couldn't bear to throw any of it away! Some of it is extremely good quality but I just don't like the colours or patterns. A tiny bit as a mat or layer doesn't overwhelm the eye so it's ideal. I agree about the water feature - I do quite like it just flowing over the upturned pot, but having a proper fountain gives it a bit more focus, and you also have the added benefit of the lovely sound it makes. The whole thing was made from bits and pieces and recycled things - we looked at several at the garden centre and my hubby said he could do just as well if not better, for a fraction of the cost!

The knitting needles - I was the one who found them, and he's just funding it! I am highly delighted. His birthday comes before mine, and he chose a DAB radio he wanted. His old one that he really liked got broken and he didn't think they were still available so he went ahead and ordered a different one, and then today I found the same one as the old one, and I've ordered that for him as well, which he doesn't know about - so I am giving him 2 radios for his birthday! He already owns several and really likes them!! (I shouldn't encourage his hoarding tendencies either - this is quite a big house and we both have sooo much stuff!!)
