Learn from this, I do it for you... !

I’ve been hoarding these ingredients. My friend Kathy (you know her from WOYWW on Instagram) sent me these fantastic embossed panels on various metallic finishes. Aren’t they plump and marvellous. I’ve been hoarding them because well, hoarding means I can enjoy them for longer.
Here’s an interesting fact about Kathy that has just occurred to me. Even though she lives all the way over there in Washington state, she is amongst only a handful of Deskers who have met Mr Dunnit. Clever.
Aaaaanyway. I am totally doing what hundreds of others are doing and casting about to make nice things now that I have, apparently, more time. And I have some lovely ingredients with which to make nice things, thanks to Kathy.

I very carefully and incredibly patiently (patting myself on the back because you might forget), applied the turquoise Nuvo Drops to each join, I think it really adds to the plumposity. Then I waited for them to dry. More back patting.
The word stamp is also from Kathy, isn’t it fab, and I think, rather pertinent. I embossed it with gold EP. It stamped beautifully, so no infill or obvious ‘squishing’ of the silicone which spreads the image and makes it look, to me, less clear, often times a bit smudged.I was pleased with it. Then I rummaged and found a crown stamp, from a We Three Kings Christmas set by Woodware. I know! Genius cross pollination of themes and justification indeed for buying a hitherto unused set. I think Darlene would be proud. It’s all coming together, I can smell a batch of satisfactory cards coming on. Fiddled about with a frame for the text, another colour, maybe the crown just stuck straight on the top of the white card...oh you name it, I invested time in it. I was really pleased with the finish.
And then I dropped the dirty stamp on it. Not once either, as you can probably tell. This is not a tale of woe. It is a horrible warning. About hubris and smugness. And utter, foul language tainted clumsiness!

Oh dear Julia, I feel your pain! Every time I start thinking "Oh this is going well" something happens! Your card is great and those Nuvo drops are so neat. I haven't actually got any of those , are they easy to apply?

Onto the good news! Apparently we have a problem with our Hub. My son suggested using my mobile data to connect and bingo! BT have sent me a mini hub till they can do a repair, so happy days x Angela

I am sure when I first saw this post come up it had a different title... got sidetracked before commenting.... Personally I think the (what shall we say) smudges - add to it... a little extra texture. But it's sod's law, right! and I love the blue drops in the middles. Worth every effort!

Similar to something I was working on today. On the other hand, I wasn't all that happy with my journal page, so no hubris here. Just clumsy and crude stamping. Yours looks like it was hand made at least. I'm quite sure you will find a way to rework it, if you decide to. If not, you can frame it as an example of what could have been.

Dropped stamps or not...to this pair of eyes I’d say it was intentional. Love it.

I thought "what a great idea to add some grunge"....
I like your card and appreciate the sacrifice of hoarded schtuff and the time taken to make such a beautiful card. Does all that flattery allow me to say....be more careful next time or else be less honest lol

Oh, Julia! This happens to me and more frequently now. Ink pads fall upside down, just right out of my hand! And my exacto knife.....just goes flying ! For no reason! I have now learned not to try to catch it mid-air! But I cringe as I watch and wait (an eternity) for it to safely hit the floor, just praying it doesn’t find my foot!

But we are brave!, Right?

Happy to see you have time to enjoy and “smell” the rose sort to speak.

Miss you two! Speak of you so often(in case you have wondered why your ears are burning )

Oh, you big goofball, I thought those smudges were all artsy and meant to be there in a mixed media intentional sort of way!! You've gone and spoiled it now, telling me it was just a big oopsy! Usually when I drop the stamp on the finished work of art (ART, I tell you, all self-indulgent!), it has to go in the bin, accompanied by said appropriate foul language. Not so with this luxurious plumpified shiny gold card wearing pretty jewels and a fitting crown!! Did you mean me when you said Darlene would be proud? If not, well, I'm proud anyway and I think you should link to NBUS! Take care, precious, stay well, and Happy Easter!! Hugs, Darnell

ah a happy accident with the brown smudges :-)

Fabulous looking card, very decadent and fair play on taking the time to add all those dots, like you say it really does add to the plumpness.

What a fantastic card! That embossed background reminds me of a cushy duvet!

I don't think I would have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out Julia. Cool card.

Oops! Don't you just hate it when that happens?

I think it is beautiful. I just thought it had a few distress marks. But I hear you. I worked so long on a great envelope only to find when finished it was upside down. I've never seen Nuvo Drops, but I love the effect. The embossing/gold/sparkle makes it look fit for a queen ~~

Gorgeous card. Yes, the turquoise dots really add to it the plumpness. Dropping the stamp actually pleases me, as I like some splattering/grunge (I was a Tim Holtz early-fan!). Ali x
