What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 511

Do you know that between last Wednesday and this, my desk has been an area of prepared intention, total and utter creative mess, and back to calm. It’s really amazing how the motivation forces the morph!
Impressive but oddly disturbing, huh! Well, I made a card and five scrapbook LOs since last weeks WOYWW but the place looked as if wild children had emptied all the cupboards. and shelves. And there was absolutely no sign of any rubbish in the bin, it was all over the cutting station worktop, the floor, the Big Shot...it was pretty bad. It only took a whirlwind to tidy. Note the expanding file on the desk. It already looks overstuffed (because it is). It contains ‘scraps’ from patterned papers, so mostly 12 x 12s that I’ve cut up. Bear in mind that every LO I make has scraps used on it. This then proves the truth that these things multiply when your back is turned. The red strip on the desk centre is for my mending attention. It’s the spine of a hardback, cloth bound catalogue belonging to Mr Dunnit. It’s about 50 years old and contains photographic listings of parts and spares for ironmongery and other interesting items. It was given to him as an old catalogue when he was an apprentice and he still uses it for reference. So we had a short discussion ‘bin it or mend it’, and I shall glue it soon. That will be it for desk action from me this week for this is actually scheduled; I am by now, enjoying a quick trip to southern Spain. There’s a bit of business to conduct, and then, well, you have to justify the flight cost, huh! Miss Dunnit is under strict instructions to photograph anything she makes at the desk (making fast and loose with my supplies), but I’m thinking it won’t happen. We’ll see!
Meanwhile, make my morning coffee on a sunny balcony even more worthwhile will you - link your WOYWW post here and expect me when you see me! I thank you.

oh lucky you in the South of Spain, even if its for business. Yes sometimes we have to make those Bin or Mend decisions. I had to do a lot of culling in the unpacking and gave away lots of double ups of food from the pantry to the neighbour. Whats in the Red carry bag?

oh that is an empty desk! your scraps file is impressive though - it may be bulging but it is tidy and they aren't in an open box like mine (most of them not usable scraps at all of course) I hope you enjoy your break in the sun.

Feliz WOYWW. You could have taken me with you! I am missing Spain so much and, as usual for this time of year, I am getting fed up of the UK weather. We are hoping to get away in April, but cash flow is not brilliant as we make changes to the farm business. Enjoy your time there - whether for business or not, the sun and blue sky always makes it more pleasurable. Ali x #9

I looked at the desk and thought now that is tidied up ready for a holiday, then reading further down I see I was correct. Where in Sunny Spain are you, hope you have the lovely warm weather we are experiencing in Almeria province. ENjoy even if it is business always time for wine and tapa. (Craftyani)

Ah Julia, I'm not saying much at this stage but you will notice that I seem higher on the list than usual which may be a sign that my own desk post was also scheduled. Hope you enjoy your time away. It is cold but very sunny where we are and that's all I'm saying Lol! Let's hope Miss Dunnit has something nice on the desk for us all to see when you get back. Happy woyww, Angela x11x

Hi Julia, Love the tidy desk.

I'm not taking part in WOYWW, as I am busy and don't like it when I can't get round to those that post on my blog.

Hope you have a lovely time in Spain. Sue

Lucky you in Spain. Just got back from 10 days in Tenerife and would cheerfully get back on a plane, though I would love to hear your thoughts about lifestyle abroad for a longer period. We are considering between 4 and 8 weeks, but this year it became obvious that what works for 10 days is simply not sustainable for a longer time, so back to the drawing board on that one. I think my hubby was a little alarmed at my joy at finding two art shops in Los Christianos - not that we would necessarily be in Tenerife of course. Love your tidy desk, much as I love to craft, I get almost as much satisfaction when everything is back in its place and tidy. I have two of those folders - one patterned papers, one plain and both are bulging. and I still have a bin full for recycling each week. The stash never seems to get any smaller though. Have a wonderful holiday!! Love n hugs, Cindy

Love your tidy desk.. in fact love my desk when its tidy! It does happen but not as it ought! Love the red expander box.. clever idea for snippets.. mine are in baggies in colours segregation and a couple of drawers.
Hope you really enjoy hols to Spain, lovely to have an excuse to jaunter, I'm off to big smoke next week for few days from Wed but its for medical reasons.. not quite as exciting as Spain.
Happy Hols and happy WOYWW.

Crikey, thought I was never going to get here today. Blogger giving me jip then the dentist even more when he stuck what felt like a mammoth needle in my mouth. Now I'm dribbling tea down my front and my nose keeps running. Anyhoo I'm here now and thats all that matters.
We've got some sunshine ourselves up here in the north. Not as much as you mind you. Have a pina colada or two for Julia. It'd wasted on me at the moment, probably ending up down my cleavage haha.
Happy holiday

Hello Julia,
I hope you are enjoying your holiday. As for me, I'm waiting for Spring to show up here in the mountains of New Mexico. I know how paper scraps seem to multiply when our backs are turned. They are almost like rabbits, aren't they. Can you believe it's my third week in a row! Woo hoo. Hugs, Kay (28)

Hi Julia, hope you are enjoying your holiday in Spain. And you have a lovely tidy desk to come back to! I have a similar expanding file, but there isn't too much in it at the moment. Mr Dunnit's catalogue sounds like it is a much treasured item, good luck with fixing the spine. Have a lovely week Heather x #32

Enjoy the sunshine and your coffee, which I am sure tastes better there.
Do you craft on these trips?

Spain and sunshine sounds wonderful. If only we could have another day like yesterday here - it was springlike and very pleasant - but today is forecast to be dull!
I know what those little boogies are like for coming and scattering stuff all over your craft room. So annoying and it makes it worse them being invisible to the human eye.
Just enjoy the sun and relaxation (and shopping if that floats your boat) and on your return you can glue that sine on the book and remember how lovely Spain was.
Hugs, Neet xx 5
