What's on your Workdesk? Wednesday 774

Doesn't a long weekend make the week very short! I hope your Easter was lovely; uplifting, a break, a chance for some quiet, a chance for some noise! Ours was a bit of everything and a lot of rain. Now we have altered our clocks and have lighter evenings, so I would very much like some drier evenings to go with! Here's a little summary of my work surfaces this weekend.
We are calling these Hot Rock buns. I made the dough for Hot Cross buns and totally forgot to smooth them into bun shapes (distracted by the arrival of my baby gal and her Squeeze). I had already planned to omit the 'cross' part of the bake because last year they were blobby and not crossy, so I didn't think anyone would mind. But there was surprise at the erm, rocky effect....still, they tasted good!
Miss Dunnit and I ventured into our small town for a lovely couple of hours of pottery painting. I painted a Unicorn for my new Great Neice. Of course I did.  You can see the sun was wonderful, it was warm under glass and really quite glorious for about an hour. And then it rained so hard I thought we were going to have to stay all night, but it happened, and cleared and we walked home in more glorious sun. Weird.
....and, I made a Layout! It's for a Chinese Whispers swap amongst the Coven so there's a Post It note attached to it with some notes to help me remember where it comes in the chain. There's gold foil at the back of the desk which evidences Easter egg noshing...and just a lot of detritus from the scrapbooking. I really would like to do a couple more now, I'm in the mood. We'll see. Since the 'children' have left us, I've had a sore throat, so am hoping that it goes and causes no time wasting or temperatures. Or tantrums!
Show and tell then, gentle Desker, we need post holiday inspiration to keep going!  Well, I do!

I like the look (and sound) of the Hot Rock buns.. it was a weird weekend for weather, luckily whilst at Kew it was good. You've had a very creative weekend, it seems. i like the look of the layout.

Lets hope that the sore throat is no more than something caused by too much talking over the weekend with DD. You can do without an infection type thing at the moment, especially as you are raring to go with the LO's.
Love the Hot Rock Buns. I love a good one, rock or not.
Hugs, neet 2 xx

I am glad that your baking experience was a happy "accident!" I hear ya! Daughters and their "Squeeze" are always a priority! :D)

What is a "Chinese Whispers?" I meant to ask this before. Also, what is the Coven? I assume it is not a witches' coven since witches don't celebrate Easter.

Good luck with the sore throat. I hope it doesn't warp into something else!

Well posted and it was gone...................Loved seeing your Hot Rock Buns. never have I made them. But I tried Cinnamon rolls, no one had Mom's recipe so I used a NO KNEAD on in our church cookbook. They were delicious. BUT I have no patience and I don't think they raised up as much as needed. Only 1 1/2 inches hight but no one was here and he'll liked 'em. I don't like Holidays alone, so After Easter Mass, we went to the Casino ..... We both won, had a great day Alone as were many other grands. I've felt my energy so shape up the Crafty area so makes things great. Right now it's snowing !!!! and high winds. It will melt then RAIN so we'll be off by 9 AM. ENJOY a great week/end

Back on track this week, and happy to see such an active and fun desk right off. Loving the rock buns and that very much sounds like something I’d do too, I hope you’ll share your layout at the end. Who claims it? The person who started it I imagine but they must let you get a final peek, right? Have a great day!

We have had the driest March on record with only a couple of mm of rain all month. April came with a vengeance with torrential rain for many hours. The only thing I can say is is that the garden needed it...

Good morning Julia, too much rain and not enough sunshine going on here. Your unicorn is sweet, I can just about see it. So have you seen the other’s layouts preceding yours? Not sure I fully understand the concept. Your hot cross cakes look good, even though being gluten intolerant I couldn’t eat them. Happy WOYWW. Angela #10

Great to see you scrapping, although not so sure what a Chinese Whispers page is??? I managed a couple of pages along with my daily journaling this week and swapped them out with last weeks hanging by a coat/trouser hanger from my picture included in my desk shot just for you. The sun is lovely when it comes isn't it but the rain was atrocious yet again last night, oh my, even the "new" roof at dancing was leaking! AGAIN! So yes some dryness would be really welcome. I love the sound of hot rock buns and I bet they tasted great! I do hope your sore throat goes away pdq. Lots of hot honey, lemon and ginger; ice cream is very good, too, for a sore throat. Pottery painting sounds fun and it’s good to craft with your daughter. I wonder how your Chinese Whispers will work. I’m familiar with the idea of messages like ‘send reinforcements, we’re going to advance’ being whispered but becoming distorted to, ‘send three and four pence, we’re going to a dance’ but how will you do it in the coven? I’m all ears!
Take care and happy WOYWW

Hope you don’t progress with the sore throat virus thingy. We are in week 3 of it and the cough and exhaustion are driving me mad. Catriona

It's been a quiet weekend chez Elizabeth. Just the way I like it. We've had sunny mornings and rainy afternoons here ... perfect scrappy days.

Your buns looked tasty and havevreminded me that I've not had one at all this year.

The unicorn, our national animal here in Scotland, will be much loved by your great niece.

Hope your sore throat is fleeting and clears up soon.

Hot rock buns - oh no, now I’m going to have to make some and I thought I’d finished Easter eating. Don’t ask how many chocolate eggs I ate haha

For some reason I can't comment on blogs with my name/account when using my mobile but hey, here I am!

Seems like ages since I did a scrapbook page - and I never did do 2013 on Project life. Maybe it's time to dust all that stuff off and get cropping again...?

I hope we get to see a picture of the finished unicorn!
