What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 638

638. It struck me as I was typing the title, 638 is a lot isn’t it! How many times since you started with WOYWW have you had a conversation with real life friends that has involved you saying something about an online friend who does that/lives there/makes those/has a pet that does that/eats those/uses that….I think I refer to one or other of you in almost every conversation I have these days! Round of applause for yourselves, you’re all so interesting.
So, to the bit that binds….my desk, early Tuesday evening:
I had come home from being out and had half an hour before himself was due home. I did think I was going to put some washing on and get some stuff ready for this morning. In readying mode, I came to my desk and sat down to write an address on an envelope. Then I noticed two bits of patterned paper that had flowers stamped on them. I can’t remember what for, and they’ve been shifted from place to place… suddenly, no time like the present! A quiet twenty minutes of cutting was very nice. And for my next trick…that small pile of stuff with my name written on it is a workshop waiting for me to do. Christmas cards no less. I know.  Now this may not be inspiring or arty, but for the first time in a long time, hey, it’s showing stuff I’ve done and intend to do. Let me work up to arty, creative and erm, inspiring. Yeah, right.
Share then do, good sights bad sights, good news, and if you need help, bad news too, turns out that we’ve been here for each other for 638 weeks, can’t see that changing!

Oh I am now reminded of your fun card making workshop I did just the once. It was such a blast and I am still hoarding a couple of the cards, although I did manage to give a few away lol! Some YouTube person does a series that is titled something like “if you only have 30 minutes” that is pretty good. Anyway, off now to hit the early riser desks before knitting and about a gazillion other tasks that need doing,
Have a lovely day! Happy Woyww!

What a really lovely post, WOYWW is an important part of my family and friendship group too! My life has been enriched by being part of this great group of friends. Meanwhile your tidy desk unnerves me slightly…too clean! And do you have enough scissors? *grin*

Happy WOYWW. Your post reminds me that I agreed to run a cardmaking workshop - possibly in September. I think that will have to be postponed (or even cancelled - not sure that I have the energy to plan for a workshop and host it). I am literally itching to sit down in my craft room and 'make a thing'. Hubby is away at a meeting all day today, and I will be home by 11 am from my daily visit to the rental house. Perhaps once Tesco have delivered our groceries, I will escape to do something creative (or just sit and stroke some new stash!). Ali x #2

Well done on getting bits done - far more relaxing than putting on the washing lol. I can relax soon too Julia - just in time to go back to work. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #7

Some of the nicest people I know are friends I’ve made on here and Instagram. This past week I’ve actually met up with several of the while we’ve been away. So yet again dear Julia I’m not at my desk but I did manage a stitch or two

You are so right Julia, this blogging thing would not have continued for me had it not been for woyww as I wasn't getting many visitors to my blog when I first started. The visitors now are mostly related to being here so thanks to you all for giving me so much encouragement to keep going. That snipping looks interesting which reminds me I need to get my act together as I've got some samples to do for the craft club. Have a lovely and creative woyww. Hugs, Angela x9x

Hi Julia, It is going to take a bit of getting use to your lovely new organised craft area and seeing the actual wood of your desk:) LOL

Yes totally agree your WOYWW has meant some physical friends as well as virtual over the many years, brilliant and hats off to you.
Ah the classic of sitting down to do a quick job, spot a bit of crafting that needs doing and 20-30 mins later still sat there 'fiddling' yep done that many times!

Oh my life, one of those days. Had published my page at midnight with the intention of linking earlier than usual but 5am was too early! Then when I awoke later I was met with a notification of a new geocache near home so abandoned house and went out hoping for a First To Find (FTF). There were neighbours and grass cutters and finally after searching for over half an hour and logging a Did Not Find (DNF) the owner came out of the house I'd parked in front of and helped me out. Then on getting home my son wanted his hair cutting as he'd just got out of the shower, then I fitted in breakfast whilst messaging a fellow geocacher who'd seen the new listing and also tried to sort my phone from opening apps when I DIDN'T want it to. Bed still not made. Oh my life. BJ#17

Good Morning Julia, I love how much free space you have this morning on your table too. ( I re-arranged mine slightly) so, the whole a little more room is something catching my eye at the moment. and I do that sort of thing every now and again too. :) yep, I think 2 of my dtgd cards ended up being Christmas ones. ~Stacy #20

Yes, I fully realised how important my WOYWW family is to me when I tried to put it into words for that poem I wrote for the anniversary.
Jan's right, you do seem to have plenty of scissors. At least you're sure of finding some when you get nice 20 minutes to do some cutting up. ;-)
Take care and happy WOYWW

638. You'd think, Julia, that after 638 weeks (well almost) I'd be able to link a post and get it right! No, not me. So apologies for my mistake on #23 - that's what I get for not using the computer.

You're so right about how often someone I've met through you gets a mention here. And life would be all the poorer without our weekly chats - I should know as I've missed so many this last year.

Fussy cutting is something I really enjoy doing - I find it therapeutic and it's something I can do while keeping Alan company.

It's good to hear your prepping for a card making class again. It gives me hope that we can all look forward to near normal living again.

Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #24

638 weeks of woyww is some achievement - and a half. Congrats on being the instigator of the biggest family around the globe. I know some have been and gone but they pop back in now and again and there is always that warm welcome waiting for them. All you need is a desk - it doesn't matter whether it's clean or tidy so there really is no excuse for me not joining in every week and it's become a kind of badge of honour to join in and not miss a week. Can't help myself, am I really nosey?
Your desk has lots of space on it this week but I like the look of that card you are working on and the pile of C cards has me intrigued. I am wondering how difficult that diecut on the top was to get? Some of them can be sheer hard work.
Ah well, better go as I am late already.
Hugs, Neet 8 xx

I have never known any blog "hops" that lasted this long! And, I too, feel like friends with many here though I doubt I'll ever meet anyone. Doesn't it feel good to get some crafting done! Have a wonderful week!
