What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 637

Well now, I’m at end game. So this section of the workspace is not my desk, but is incredibly useful isn’t it! I’ve emptied the cupboard that contains cards and envelopes and am corralling and arranging and pairing. Again, I’ve got loads and many sizes do not speak to me. DL for example, and A5s and 8x8 squares. Time to admit it it, cull them, move on.
Roughly speaking, the pile at very far left is pre-scored cards and envelopes in packs. So they’re already paired which helps. The pile in the middle of the shot is pre-scored blanks that so far I haven’t found envelopes for. But as you can see, there are plenty of envelopes about, so I’m confident that another afternoon will have them sorted. Spares, sizes I no longer want are, happily, already spoken for, so am not wasting a drop.
Now I can slide a basket from the cupboard shelf and see what size and shape I’ve got. Don’t faint at all the quantities you see, remember, I conduct workshops (in normal times) and when the samples are popular, I can need 16 of each card at kitting stage. Pleased so far. Relieved too, starting to think I may get an afternoon of cutting and sticking soon!
Join me do, tell the tale of your desk, work surface, creative space, what you’re doing. Puhleeeeese.

Getting my card stuff organized was very useful. Finding I have many card bases and no envelopes to match was annoying. Finding, then immediately misplacing my envelope templates was VERY annoying. Buying an envelope punch board was the best decision I’ve made for ages. Of course then finding my templates 30 seconds after hitting the buy button was ironic but I stand by it, Once the sorting is done it can be all about creating..,

An impressive display of output! I'm glad you've found homes for the card sizes you don't envisage using or i might have offered to take some off your hands! I hope you get your afternoon of cutting and sticking, you must be looking forward to something other than sorting!

I sorted my card and envelope stash a while ago and decided just to stick to a couple of square sizes and two others, buy envelopes in bulk so hey presto. One can always fit the task to the size.

I think my comment disappeared 🙄. What did I say? Ah yes - Good morning Julia! The sizes you mentioned are the sizes I don’t like using. You will be so happy when all is done and you can craft away in your new space. Happy WOYWW Angela #4

You are doing a great job Julia. I don't know if I dare take photos of the almost empty shed at the moment. Putting it back together will be a job and a half so well done on what you have achieved already! Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #7

It’s looking good Julia. I love it when everything has a place and it’s just where you know to find it. You’re doing a great job.
Sorry about last week, lack of internet on our campsite meant I couldn’t even visit let alone write a post (and next week may be just the same).
Hugs,
Annie x

I wish I was so organised with jy envelopes - what a good idea to have a basket that you can just slide out like that. I am impressed! I have too many tiny envelopes that don't get used, maybe I should cull too. Julia, you have made me realise that is what I will do when i gt home. Why save what I won't use!
have a good week.
Hugs, Neet 11 xx

That looks very well organised, Julia. I've been trying to organise my stuff better, but it's just not in me. Frankly, the mess is annoying me to the point I get hissy fits (I kid you not) - one day I'll put on my big girl pants and just do it! Enjoy your soon-to-be well organised crafty space! It inspires me to do better with mine. xx (yet to write my post)

I’m very impressed how organised you are with the cards and envelopes. Can we see a picture of the full area soon. Not that I’m nosey, I’d just like a good poke around everything heehee.
Off on my jollies now down to Oxford. So not a lot of time to swoop around the desks sadly.

Wow looks like you are getting really organised!! I find keeping cards and envelopes together a nightmare so well done you - mine start off together and then somehow get seperated, must be gremlins, can't be me. Jury is still out on the classes - will I do again or not? It was originally something to keep me occupied until hubby retired as when he did we would be gallivanting all round the world. Well that didn't happen, and he's got so involved with his volunteering now I'm still here on my own. So maybe... Happy WOYWW!! Cindy #13

Well done Julia, think I need to do that as I know I have card blanks in different places and when I can't find what I need I may be guilty of buying more. Keep up the good work. Happy and productive woyww, Angela x14x

Hi Julia,
I am lobbing in for quick comment (ha!) as it’s prayer time then bed won’t get to anyone else, had three hours in garden the arvo then an hour or bit more in tub with Epsom salts to recover then tea then reply to emails then it’s 9pm time for needle and prayer time and not even done dishes .. no idea how that happened.

Now in card size especially A5 for which I’ve a deep loathing, mostly cos all folders etc are gewarded for US no other country, however I actually love DL and don’t mind 8 x 8.
I don’t have many precut cards at all, handy though they are, apart from 5 x 7”. They’re my favourite size and found a good Aussie company that sell them, yes tad dear compared to overseas but excellent quality and helping an Aussie company wins it for me.
Won’t get to comment much, will do best tho… even though I’m in lockdown at mo am busy in my own little corner.

Spring is busy and yes it is spring my roses are boosting with the lovely new shoots that’s where was three hours today and more earlier in week. Spread out. Otherwise it’s deadly.for the old grey mare.

Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

I share your envelope problem, Julia. There's a box in the craftroom full of odd sizes I've not found a use for. It's a bit if a mystery really because I must had cause to buy them at one time. I'm enjoying seeing how you're finally settling into your craftroom - it's been a long time coming. Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #24

Lovely to see the organisation taking place. I too have lots of envelopes that need paired with cards but I’ll leave that for a winter task! Happy crafting!

This went from a mess to a wonderfully corralled box or two of cards ready to be used or kitted. GOOD JOB, Julia. Obviously not playing, just stopped by to say hi.

Oooh Julia, your card and envelope organising really floats my boat! I love to see the large quantities all neatly arranged like that. Your work room is looking amazing and I'm envious of those fabulous adjustable sheles/drawers underneath. The handles on the pull-out shelves are so attractive - what a great idea. It all looks very organised and I'm really impressed. You have a positive forest of scissors! With all their different colours they look very decorative. All great stuff.

Thank you for your lovely comment and your commiserations for my poor hubby, and also the congrats for no chemo!! I'm mightily relieved. For the past week I have been celebrating my hair which I now know I get to keep! I had my radiotherapy planning session this afternoon, which was a very interesting experience.

I'm glad you like my die storage. I think it's going to work very well. I haven't made a lot of categories and I don't think it will be a problem finding stuff. I'm definitely going to have a dual system for the stamps, though, so they will be easier to find. As for labelling, I would have been laminating anyway, for added strength and durability - it's amazing how stiff those dividers are, and they are just made from cheap printer card which is pretty bendy. Printing the word on the top is really quick, and it's all sealed in the lamination. It works brilliantly, and saves faffing around with making labels and stickin them on, I think. Oh, there's always a danger in making people think yo know what you are doing hahaha! They might ask you to do stuff...

Happy belated WOYWW from one Tough Old Bird to another,
Shoshi #23
