What’s On Your a Workdesk? Wednesday 636

Thanks very much for asking. Actually, there’s not a huge amount on my desk. Sorry, did you faint?
I KNOW! There’s so little there and no dust! You’d expect this to be a really short post then wouldn’t you..but it won’t be. It rarely is, let’s face it. Wanna know something really stupid? The desk isn’t positioned correctly yet, it’s not against the window/door on account of architraves and linings. Yawn. That’s not the stupid bit. The stupid bit is that I allowed myself to get so excited about having a desk I could sit and work at that I forgot the location thing. And have hung stuff on the wall according to the height of the desk and my eye level.  The notice board has always been there, but the text picture at right is newly hung. And in totally the wrong place…once my desk faces the door, it will be right in the way or totally obscured by the scissor holder or something like it. Stupid. Argh. The plastic box has picture hanging bits in it, the hammer then becomes self explanatory. The little pile in the middle is the really interesting thing. New stuff! I must be coming round a bit!
Talking of coming around….how do you like the look of things behind me, soon to be at my right…
Am a little bit smug, but don’t worry, it won’t last. I’ve got to do some test run work in this new arrangement before I can be full on big headed. Don’t hold your breath. Am still a bit busy in real life which is by turn lovely and well, work!
Meanwhile though, share your lovely spaces please, tell of your triumphs and share your disasters. Because they aren’t really disasters, just pretty loops in a long length of ribbon!

Oh the progress! It’s amazing. And yeah, every time I rearrange I end up having to pound new holes in the walls to hang things NOT behind a bookcase, or obscured by something that needs to be in a certain place. It’s a struggle but it’ll all work out I’m sure. I had to laugh too cause finally I tossed out ink refills I bought very early on in my crafting journey dated from the 90s. All pigment ink, which I rarely used. Very freeing!
Enjoy the journey

I am glad you explained the desk position because I did think when I saw the first photo you were in the wrong place! I hope you get the position sorted soon and can really settle in!! the shelves however, look fabulous! I think you've done so well so far (and that sounds patronising but I promise I don't mean it to be like that) Have a good week, and enjoy the new goodies! Helen xx

One can never have too many pairs of scissors. Wow it is going to take you 12 months to remember where all your materials are. Oh no it won't that's we us crafters never put things away so we can always find them again. Have a good week. Ani #3

Looking really good Julia and you still have space for more shelves. I am sure the wall aty issue will resolve itself when your desk is in the correct position. In the meantime, enjoy the space! Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #5

Oh I see….I thought you’d be stuck against the dark wall but it becomes apparent now. I’m glad you’ll be against a the doorway as I just couldn’t see you working in the dark! Nice desk and new storage, glad your sorting is going ok!

Hi Julia, Glad you are getting closer to having your craft room all sorted. Hope the architraves and linings are soon done.

Have to admit as your desk is the least busy I have ever seen it, it made me rather uncomfortable:) LOL

Happy WOYWW

I think I pressed the wrong place, my comment disappeared! Definitely making progress and you will soon be crafting away as if it had always been like that! Happy WOYWW Angela #9

Thought you had been taken over by Aliens as your desk is so tidy. I just love the shelving behind you (at the moment) and you have every right to be smug. If I had someone to build me a room like that I would be smug with a capital "S".
I can see many hours of "i'll put that there, and this there" "No, it won't work because ..." ahead of you. As for knowing where you have put stuff you could do what I do - I keep a pencil record (so it can be erased and re-written) of what is where in boxes, on which shelf etc. That's how I survive and how I have been looking for my mica tiles for the past year or more.
Hugs, Neet 10'ish xx

Happy WOYWW. It does feel incredible to actually see some progress and imagine being able to sit and craft in your perfectly (or nearly perfectly) designed space. I haven't hung any pictures etc yet (although bought the sticky strip things from Amazon in preparation) - that will be once the old wardrobes have been dismantled and removed from my craft room, and one last piece of furniture bought and contents sorted (the bulky stuff I want to keep in here like my exercise mat). I am tentatively aiming for the end of September! Ali x #12

Had an ear worm reading your post “The wheels on the bus..,”. It does make it easy to move things round till you’re happy. Enjoy your rearranging.

Well I’m admiring your curves.
Your desk curve that is. It’s very appealing.

I must say, and I don't think I'm alone in this, I'm getting very excited about your room. . . . studio? Julia cave? Chaos corner?
Such fun
Have a good week

Sounds like you have been busy! I am back after an 8 year absence... sorry about that lol. Life gets in the way and all that!

Looks like your work room is starting to take shape, your shelves are looking very organised :) I have a craft room now which was lovely when first set up, but I need to get it back into use rather than the dumping ground it's turned into!

I'm going to make my way round a few desks and hopefully get my crafting mojo back!

Loving the shelves, so much space and organisation. Shame about the wall hanging, at least the scissors will hide "mistake" fixing. My big loop of ribbons just happens to be front right of my desk photo today - LOL. BJ#18

I always think it's best to let your craft space evolve - see what wants to go where - I'm sure everything will find its place eventually. Having said that, mine is still evolving 4 years down the road since we moved LOL - and a lot of things have found their place scattered on the floor, or stacked under my desk oops! Have fun organising stuff, or just let them organise themselves! xx zsuzsa #19

It would help if I actually remembered to link my blog, Julia, but my heads quite obviously all over the place! It's good to see that you've almost, but not quite, sorted out your craft room again. It's my experience that craftrooms are difficult to organise. I like the thing I use frequently near my desk but, as that definition covers most stuff, I'm never quite happy with how I've organised everything. I've a feeling I never will. Have a great week. I must admit to missing what's going on outside your window, the hose...a wiry bit of grass...even a flower, but the shelves look, well, compared to mine, very tidy and not yet packed to the celin! It will change and grow! And look fabulous. I have a lot of scissors...in fact me thinks its best to have more than one of everything crafty, because things have a habit of falling into amother demention...I think that's spelt wrong. Happy WOYWW!? ((Lyn))#23

I am trying to under stand this but, its late and I have a headache. So, the first desk is going to move again then? I do like how you can see everything on the shelves above the curved desk Julia, that looks very useful. :) ~Stacy #25

It’s good that you are decluttering as well as organising. I need to dive into my fabric storage again and do some sorting. Happy craftingđź’•

I like the surface look of your desk, that old wood (is it wood?) looks real nice. And I could do the same... getting excited and hang stuff in the wrong space. Well, that's what extractors are for *grin* I love the amount of scissors you have, I though I had a lot (but there are 'only' 5 on my desk.) It's good to see you still going strong, enjoy your day dear one. Hug from Holland! Marit #7

Just stopping by to check on the progress. I won't comment on the wrong location, but commend you on your incredible new shelving on what will soon be on the side of your desk. The guy who built this knew what he was doing. Aren't you glad you slept with him, now (grin)?

Great progress but it always takes time to get things just right... then we change our minds. Anyway, enjoy playing with the new goodies! Have a wonderful week!

Great news, Julia, your blog is now open for business again!! I am so pleased. Nice to know that you are in the (High) Society category - only the best for WOYWW. Your new room is looking a treat. I love the curvy desk below the shelves. You will soon iron out any teething problems with layout, but I expect it will be difficult to find things for a while until you get settled and know where everything is - I know I had this experience when we first moved here.

Thank you for your visit and I was amused that you now have something to look at and think of me, as well! I can't look at my teetering precarious top shelf box without thinking of you, haha!

Zsuzsa had the same thought about my surgeon's card - perhaps I should make him another thank you card to thank him for his thank you letter for my thank you card. This could run and run.

Happy belated WOYWW,

To answer one of your questions from this week/or in this case last week...about the A4 and A5 open topped document folders I keep my stamps in? It's working for me I can put them into some sort of order, but I still can't make up my mind whether to separate them from any dies, embossing folders, foils etc that they sometimes come with. I am still blocked, but oddly enough- I can get into this page from last week, but as soon as I click on 'home' to go to this weeks woyww, I get the 'can't connect' page...or the Danger Will Robinson! Danger! (it doesn't acually say that, but you know what I mean!
