What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 583

August, we greet thee. With some shock, but hey, you’re here now. There’s nothing actually in progress on my desk because I’m mid way through choosing just one piece from a stack of 12x 12 papers. And I have been midway through choosing since Saturday early evening, and just not able to get back to it. So, when I thought to photograph the desk on Tuesday, I thought I’d pull back and provide a little more perspective.
The thing about temporary is that you still need to be surrounded by everything, and in here, that means using the floor. I think since my desk was moved out to this location most of my crafting has been colouring, cutting ( I need the practice) and die cut work because it travels between rooms more easily than stamps and all the paraphernalia. I think. I also have to be mindful that this sort of constant light and warm exposure is bad for pens, rubber, glue, blah blah, so I do move them back into the gloom of the original work room reasonably promptly after use. Mr Dunnit is threatening to have some time off this month to knock the hole in the other wall of the workroom and put the door back in. Might as well, at least all my untidiness can then go back to being slightly out of sight to lounge room users and guests!  You can see more clearly that the coloured balls are actually a string of lights. They’re really pretty, but with all this opening glass, there’s nowhere to anchor them! They were a gift from my sister and I always said I’d wait to use them in this new room, so I shall find a way!  Meanwhile, please show and tell, bet yours is tidier than mine!

no way is mine tidier than yours and I don't have the excuse of ongoing building work.... if only! I hope you find a way to string up the lights, they will look fab! I understand not being able to find the right piece of paper! Happy desk day. Helen

Happy WOYWDW .
You are so right about under the desk. Its so easy to put things there and then forget it, I have searched for things only to discover then days later under the table, , Hope you get your door soon so you can get it finished.

I shall confess that our office, which now we are winding down the business, has become the dumping ground for all my stuff. There is just enough room to sit at the desk. So queen of making a mess I’ve beaten you and it is most likely to be there a lot longer than yours. I can’t even get in the filing cabinet. Good job there’s no actual work going on.
Stay safe lovely Julia. I’ve still got something to send to you but I’ve put it somewhere safe and I don’t know where. Typical.

My craft room does become a dumping room if I'm not careful. The shelves around the room are full of boxes with Tilly stuff in them. I maybe should do a 360 one day and show you the state of it!! As long as we keep crafting that's all that matters. xx Jo #9

Always difficult to stay tidy when moving between spaces Julia. Hope you do find a home for those lights eventually, they are lovely. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

I am sure it will all be worth it in the end. I keep telling myself this though I understand the problem you're having as I am still moving my stuff into the new cabin studio and the loft is at the stage now which I find most difficult...what to throw away and what to keep. It was easy o begin with as I only moved out the stash I knew I really wanted and now it's the stuff that I'm not sure about so going to have to be brave and get rid of some. Anyway, you have a very happy woyww and carry on crafting (maybe they could make a comedy out of that Lol! it wouldn't be hard!) Angela x10x

Wow, that's impressive! You'll be glad to get back to your room when the door is knocked through. I loved my gernomies card by the way and think that shenanigans are de rigeur!!

Hi Julia, Most of my crafting stash is out of site, which makes it look tidy, but I forget what I have.

Hope you can get the lights up soon, as they will look fab.

Happy WOYWW

Hi Julia. My dining room/aka craft studio is starting to look untidy again - getting stuff back out after the big clear away.
Had to go the torturous route again to link, last week was a doddle - back to same problem this week. A complete mystery! Have a good week. Anne x@16

HI Julia, I love to see a properly messy workdesk, that's what they're supposed to look like isn't it? Hope you get your permanent space sorted soon - but if you're anything like me, you'll still be crafting in every other room in the house anyway. Have a great week, Annie C #16

I do like those coloured ball lights - they will look fab in your craft room when finished. Building works are inconvenient but there's always the promise of completion and improvement. Just hang in there! At least you have a good excuse to be messy - most of us don't! Happy WOYWW, Julia! xx zsuzsa #11

If those lights were mine I think I would have to plug them in anywhere - somewhere - they are fab!
I don't think I have so much stuff on the floor as you do. Well, not under the desk part. Mine is spread about a bit around the room. Cannot decide whether the lime green 'receptacle' is a bin or a bag? Do like it though!
Just spotted your trolley, it camouflaged itself there, or is it that I have just woken up.
Gosh August already and the weather up here is dreadful! Summer again!!

A tidy desk is spooky, lacking life and energy, I think... At least that's how I justify the mess I work with! I'll get a wide shot of mine soon, I promise. You'll all feel very organised once you see my crafty chaos!

Mine's only tidier cos there's nothing happening. I'd far rather be amidst your craftiness. The hardest thing of doing a layout is choosing the paper isn't it? I can spend ages umming and aahhing over different sheets.
I love your pretty lights. I thought they were little balloons at first.
Have fun and enjoy your week

Bet mine is not tidier! It all still feels very temporary on mine too.

We swear by command hooks, they work really well in our sun room for hanging danglies and glitteries from.

Well I have to say my desk is quite tidy, because I had to tidy it so I could do todays post :) The rest of the room however.......
It's great to be back home, although I have to say I have been feeling more than slightly worn out since we got back. I tried to convince my self it was still summer when we got back, but I gave that up yesterday - trousers and jumper :)

well, I am not entirely sure its tidier but, the piles may be less thick in the center ha ha Julia. I bet you can hardly wait for your door to be done so you do not have so much hauling back and forth to do too. ~Stacy #25

Too funny ~ I so understand this photo! We are renovating almost our entire downstairs and everything feels chaotic at the moment. I can also relate to being midway through choosing an item, one time it took me over an hour to pick ribbon for a card and wondered can anyone else relate?!? ~ Enjoy the rest of your week :)

Love the different view of your work area. I think we use all areas of our surroundings whether we have a permanent spot or temporary one. Our supplies seem to multiply. I love that colorful string of ball lights. So festive! Have a great week. Dorlene #27

Phewee, managed to join the party again🤗. Hope everyone's keeping well. Apparently the C word is rising in Melton Mowbray so we're both continuing to follow the stay at home rules. More time to craft a long & read your blogs!!
I find it doesn't matter how big or small my work area, I still end up working in a 2" square. Weird😉

Oh my in all my cufuffle with having to use my tablet teathered to my phone to blog this morning and not finding the legacy button on blogger I clear forgot to comment. I think I was just astounded that I'd managed to actually create and post a blog page and link it to yours into the bargain!

Anyway I'm here now back on PC with backup minihub holding out for the time being pending engineer which I have since arranged for tomorrow, not a week Friday like they offered yesterday!!!

Like the stepped back view of your desk this week, floors are super useful and nothing can fall off them! Hope you get back to the choice soon

I love the wider angle and under the desk view this week. It really does show it all doesn't it. Mine would look a lot messier if I did that! Love the beautiful lights and hope you find somewhere to put them. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love and God Bless, Caro xxx (#13)

Hi Julia, just popping in to see if you are keeping out of trouble and wish you a happy August, looks like your work desk is keeping crafty. Watch out Mr Sunshine doesn't suck those pens dry he's a thirsty boy this time of year.
Loving those jazzy light, bet they look cracking when alight.
Hope you are all keeping well, miss you all.. Sending Hugs Tracey xx

It sounds as if you've got continuous ongoing building work going on chez Dunnit these days, Julia! It must be difficult having to move things from room to room and worrying about sun damage too. Is there a lot of dust being generated? That's also a big problem with building work. You do seem to manage to be extremely productive throughout, though!

Thank you for visiting, and I'm glad you are enjoying the progress on the tiny carpets. I really enjoy designing and adapting. Pinterest is a huge source of inspiration for me. I am happy to say that while we were out visiting this afternoon I was able to finish the stocking stitch on the first sleeve of my purple circles jumper, and trying it on when we got home, I am delighted that it fits exactly, so my design has worked very well! I am keen to get the second sleeve started but need to concentrate on the needle books for now.

Happy WOYWW,

Sorry to be so late for Wednesday!!

I love your floor! It looks just like mine! That probably doesn't make you feel better does it? An no construction here!
But as you've realized, I like EVERYTHING out where I can see it! :)
