What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 333

333. All the threes! That seemed a lot to me, I had to go back and check!
Join us if you'd like to, it's harmless and easy - there are pages at the top of this post that tell you the why and the how.
My desk today is looking like the desk of a crafter who knows what she's doing. And I do.
I'm doing the five minutes here and there thing to get ahead with some preparations for a workshop next week. Oh yes dear Desker, I am actually trying to get ahead. You can see the unused Hallowe'een paper on the iPad stand which means it's not actually working, but hey, I get points for trying huh! Basket is still full of stamps with intention and acrylic blocks that just will not put themselves away. See I have a Layer Perfect tool too. I've had it for ages. I watched a good demo. Bought the tool. Obviously between demo and desk I totally forgot how to do it, and do you know, I cannot for the life of me make sense of the instructions. It's there to remind me to get the left brained in this household to interpret it for me. It makes me tired and emotional when I can't understand words.
So please show your desks and your progress or otherwise. Most of you achieve far more interesting stuff than I, it is a pleasure to call in!

A bit of housekeeping while I have your attention:
We could do with hearing from you if you are thinking of coming to the WOYWW Crop2...if you have declared intent already, don't worry, but final numbers are useful for catering. If you're undecided, visit the page (above) and perhaps contact someone who is coming for an opinion. Know that you're welcome and you won't be the only person who doesn't know anyone...not many of us have actually met!
And lastly - the seashells...nail varnish consumption not too great, I think the biggest shell was about 4cm long and probably the widest was 3cm!

I have no idea what a Layer Perfect tool would do but I hope you work it out... Love the row of mittens!

I cannot cut straight with a guillotine (the coven sit, watch and laugh when I try) so even mat and layering provides me with "issues"! My answer, off kilter (or uneven as my mother would point out!!) layering!! Embrace unevenness!! :-)

OHMY, Julia... look how organized you are! All those little 'thingies' neatly in a row... compliments!!! ;) Have a great Autumn day dear one, Love from Holland. Marit #13 (Oh, and I'm so sorry I cannot come to the crop, I really hope I can be there one day after all, UK is not that far from the Netherlands... do you think I should start training for the swim?)

Layer perfect tool ??? You've set us all off with that one. I bet we will all be investigating it now haha
Hope your crop goes well and your nerves are not to shattered with that tool.
Thanks for the shell tip as well Julia

Congrats on keeping ahead! I've never been able to do this even though I'm retired!
Perfect Layer Tool? I have never heard of it so I can't help you there. But I know the feeling... I once bought an L-shaped acrylic block which apparently helps line up background stamps, but I can't remember how to use that either. (and I mislaid the instructions and I don't know what it's called so I can't google it. Arh!)
Have a good week,
Lisca

Hi Julia, I must have a look at the Perfect tool as I have no idea what it is or how it works but from what you've said it would probably end up as one of those things that sits there never used and I have too many already. So wish I could come to the crop but a friend here is having a retreat next year so hopefully I will get to attend that. I have never had the chance to spend that amount of time with a group of crafters (adult ones that is) so quite looking forward to it. Have a lovely woyww and happy crafting, Angela x 24

I had to look up Layer Perfect tool - now I know. Those little mittens look cute. Your seashell 'painting' earlier in the week has sparked off ideas I can do with my ladies at the Hospice some who have lost feeling in the tips of their fingers - I am always looking for quick and simple craft ideas for them and nail varnish brushes are quite chunky . Carry on the good work. Jackie #23

Morning Julia, is a requirement of crafters' club to buy a tool and then have no idea how to use it? If so I am a guilty crafter as charged.
You desk certainly looks like a good organised crafter's this morning, all those stockings, very Christmassy.

HI Julia, my my you do look VERY organised there, I'm well impressed!! I haven't the foggiest clue what a layer perfect tool is for, but I checked and there are lots of tutorials on YouTube - might be easier to watch than to read??? I <3 YT!!! Good luck with your preparations, have fun :o) Annie C #31

We will get to that crop one day but not this time Julia - hope it is one of the best and all those lovely crafting buddies have a fab day! x Jo

You seem to be quite effective with your five minute crafting sessions! Joanna Sheen sells those perfect layer ruler sets, I watched a video over there once, considering buying the thing. Because I don't do much layering, I didn't take it, but if you need a new tutorial on it, that might be the place to find it. Happy crafting!

Thanks for clearing up the nail polish consumption - I was worried but no more.
Love all the Christmas prep even if it is for a workshop and not for yourself - looks interesting and I can't wait for the end result to be on show.
Yes, I get a lot of fun from the Finn workshops and am already wanting to know when I can attend another one but she is such a busy lady - off to S Africa and Oz I think next. Will see her in America in January at CHA but hope she gets to spend time with family over Christmas for her sake.
You enjoy your workshop!
Hugs, Neet xx (thanks for the visit)

I also have never heard of your Layer Perfect Tool, but now I'm curious, (of course) so do, please, show and tell when you figure it out :)
Amazing what you can do in 5 minute blocks! I think it must tend to focus things, because if you only have 5 minutes you don't want to waste them :)

Hi Julia - you sure have the tongues wagging about your 'layering tool' - I YT'd it of course and it seems like a good idea. Your desk is all tidy and orderly with those bulk preparations - looking good. Wouldn't at all mind if I lived a wee bit closer so I could attend the crop but 15,000 kms is a bit far for one weekend. Have a super week, Cheers RobynO#35

Those five minute timings!! I know EXACTLY what you mean......
I discovered I don't have to watch paint dry if I follow your lead - five minutes on this, five minutes on that, uh uh paint is dry so can do another page in the journal. Thank you for the tip.
Surprising the things you learn on Wednesdays!!!!
Have a fun week

I love those little mitten kits you're putting together for your workshop. There are so many possibilities to decorate them. Happy WOYWW and blessings, my friend!

Loving the little mittens, not sure what a perfect layering tool looks like or what it does. Perhaps you can show us. I'm gutted I cannot make the crop. But taking Keagan to Newmarket is the priority of course. Hugs. Take care Zo xx

Well that lineup of mittens looks so cute! But I had to laugh because now I know I'm not the only one that buys some great crafting tool and then at some point can't even figure out how to use the thing. *sigh* I can't even imagine what a paper layering thingie does, but you do the cutest things without it apparently. Hugs. Sandy Leigh

Good morning, Miss Julia. Busy little bee you are! When you figure out that formula for getting ahead, I do hope you'll share. So wish I could attend the crop. Maybe I should plan one state-side next year to coincide with yours Hmmm. And Marit could organize one for the Netherlands and surrounding area. ::: brain is spinning with possibilities :::: Creative Blessings! Kelly # 46/47 LOL

You are on an organizational path. Good job you've a lot more to get ready for than I with only 6 cards to get in the mail so I can quit my whining. Just get upset with myself I'm always running too close to the day with things. Has to be my age, never had this issue at a younger age and was sooooo much more busy running with the kids.
Never heard of a layering tool....I checked youtube but a 9min video and I've not time right now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZ2j4EsJMew so don't know if it is a good one or not. Have fun with your crop, things will fall into place and it will be fun. Don't forget the camera. Have a great week. And thanks for the fun.

I forgot to comment when I linked up earlier on! DOH.....
You are getting on with your workshop prep...it's not often you see such a production line on your desk. Well, not since the Card marathons anyway. Doesn't that seem a long time ago now?
Hope you're ok...speak tomoz,

I'll be checking out what a layer tool is all about . I'm guessing its to do with card & scrapbook making .

I love that mass of little mittens on your desk there, Julia, looks like mass production is in full swing. I've been pondering whether the perfect layers tool is worth investing in, perhaps not if it's a bit tricky, like you I don't follow instructions too well.

I remember the Perfect Layer tool being all the rage in scrapbooking circles a little while ago, but I've never seen one in use so can't help there. Maybe you should bring it to the crop and somebody might have the answer. Looks like festive crafting is in full swing at your desk.

I love the cute Christmas mittens on your desk! I can't help you with the layering tool, I have never heard of it. And I cant come to the crop because I live to far away (Belgium). Thanks for hosting this blog party!

Hi Julia,

Sorry I didn't leave a comment earlier. Those little mittens look so cute! You get points for having the Halloween paper still on display, the spooky day has yet to arrive!

Oh, the crop is on my bucket list!!

Hi, Julia, Your desk is looking really productive!
I was curious about your layer perfect tool and I found videos on YouTube. Looks like a very useful tool. Thank you for your lovely comment. Yes, I like to think that I will leave by bible to my daughter when I'm gone.
Happy WOYWW!

Ok now I have to go Google what a Layer Perfect tool is! My hubby won't thank you if I have to rush out and buy it. :) Lovely to see you have had five minutes here and there to do any crafting let alone preparation crafting! Awesome. I still haven't given the slightest thought to Christmas in any form yet.

I won't be attending the Crop this year. Instead of a plane ticket I now have to go by a Layer Perfect tool! Only kidding but still. Don't see a trip to the UK in my near future even for so worth of a cause.
