- The need to take photos at inappropriate moments.
- and wishing that your family would co-operate more by wearing matching clothes.
- Joking that you'll 'blog about that' and being met with a stoney silence.
- Sitting at the keyboard and staring at the screen with nothing interesting to say...and all that advice about saying nothing if you've got nothing to say...but you NEED to blog!
- Blogging about a particular something...and including a photo that exposes a part of your real life and that becoming the greater subject in the Comments.
- Constantly having to apologise for rubbish photography.
Sorry about the bad light and horrid cropping |
- Trying to protect your family's privacy because they want you to. And failing because they are a far greater source of material than you ever dreamed possible.
- Writing too much.
- Editing. Because actually, it's not nearly as funny when told in 3 kerjillion words after all. Thirty words usually will do.
- Fretting about making yourself understood. And then, wait - remember yourself - this isn't about influence, it's for entertainment.
- Being so shallow as to fail to recognise something controversial when you say it.
- Finding that the person that bothers to email something about your arrogance hasn't made it possible to reply to their very rude message.
- The deflation - sitting in a craft workshop and overhearing others chat about your blog without knowing that you're the author...only to discover their low opinion!
- The elation of being told that others enjoy your blog - this is a double edger - it can cause enormous performance anxiety!

Oh dear, sounds horrid. Sorry to hear that
Hmm, I can relate to quite a few..... Beautiful card by the way. Oh and I enjoy your blog Julia xx
That list rings a lot of bells...
Very pretty card Mrs D - the pink with the kraft colour works beautifully.
Toni xx
Well, I love you and your blog :-)
Hugs,
Annie x
Having a good giggle here, Julia, thank you for that...brilliant card, very apt for this month...xxx
This is a pretty card - and I'm such a rubbish photographer that I didn't even notice the cropping wasn't the best! All I can say is you seem to do great work with your blog and some people who make negative comments are just jealous. I have so few page views usually I can't imagine it would be possible for me to overhear anyone talking about my blog at a craft workshop - defies the laws of probability or something like that!!! I am beginning to experience the compulsion to blog, though! He-elp!!! Julie Ann xx
Oh I can relate to so much of this. "Twenty words where one will do" etc, and so often I am surprised when all the comments are about the 'little extra' you popped in, while the main theme goes un-mentioned!
But I love blog-land, and I love your blog. Hugs. Kate x
P.S. I thought you were on holiday, so get out there and enjoy the sun, and forget about blogs for a while! x
A brilliant post Julia, so much of what you say could apply to most of us methinks! You are one of life's special people and I love your blog! Hugs, Anne x
I love to read your blog --- so what!!!
I absolutely love your blog and if a few "odd" people have a different opinion that is cool. We probably wouldn't want them to join in on Wednesday. Keep at it I find your humour very refreshing.
Sandra
Oh Julia, I love your blog and reading about what's on your mind and what you have going on! Who cares what others think--if they don't like it, they don't have to read it.
Besides, remember what they say in Hollywood--even bad press is good!
Your card is stunning by the way, the kraft and pink look lovely together.
Hugs,
Michelle
I recommend never apologising for crappyone photos. The odds are good that people won't even notice unless you draw their attention. Honest, I've posted some terrible photos but no one has ever said anything.
I can SO relate!!! :)
Oh my, I can relate to so many items on your bloggers list! I love your blog, your sense of humor and You! If someone doesn't they can go somewhere else....there! Ppfft to them. Hugs
Stunning card, love the pink and kraft together. I love your cropping, it is just like mine...LOL
Please forget about "those" people, I doubt they were ever taught any manners. With over 1000 followers the world has to know WE LOVE you!! So cheer up and carry on and enjoy your holiday!
We want and need to see some pics of you having a GOOD time!
Love your pink and Kraft card, always love butterflies. Your blog is for you Julia, I am pleased to feel welcome to wander in anytime and relax. You say what you want, use as many words as you like, relax and enjoy it also. xx Flora
Believe the lovers not the haters -- as Darnell would say, L.I.T.S. Really! :)
Hugs from across the pond,
Laura the Bookworm
1. Look at all the people who follow your blog and love what you have to say.
2. Appreciate that people hang on your words and many try to emulate you.
3. Realize you take far better photos than some of us (OK, me for example).
I love the card, but totally get the inability to crop.
I can't believe someone was horrid enough to say they didn't like your blog - it always makes me smile - except today when I'm angry/upset on your behalf - but I LOVE your blog.
Hope you have a good evening - and get the family to pose for some photos in well-matched clothing!
A bit of a sad list Julia?
Interesting to think someone talking about your blog and NOT knowing you write it.... How could they NOT know you. Just look at the numbers every week....
I usually only blog on Wednesdays
janet
Another fab blog post and list Julia - well there are plenty of us love your blog! Super card, Carole Z X
Oh well if they dont like your blog they can move on to the zillion other ones and make more room for those of us that love your blog.. :) Super card butterflies rock..
I took the humour from this Julia and recognised me in a lot of those statements esp about not having anything but desperately wanting to blog LOL - getting ready for WOYWW - CYA soon Mxx
Perhaps a photo of your face and not your shadow would help peeps recognise you? Why apologise for anything? If someone does not like it, they don't have to read it...you are not forcing them to after all! I for one, love your wit and long rambles, they are so true to life and makes me laugh, I am one who LOVES your blog and wishes I could meet you in real life...one day I will visit across the pond and come say hello to all my WOYWW friends who I have made because of you...what was that about using only 30 words...does that count for comments too? Hope not, I am sure I am well over...
Oh Julia - Why worry what others think? You don't force anyone to read your happy blog. If they read anything they don't like then they don't have to return. So many folk love your cheery witty posts so just go for it girl!! x Jo
I had a good giggle at your post and I second everything that Bella said... you dont have to stay and read it if you think its rubbish. I love your blog and I know I don't always comment but I do read ever update.... Keep at it....
I did really good at blogging, saying whatever popped into mind and making it entertaining right up until a friend told me repeatedly ad nauseum that she loved it when I told stories.... that turn out aren't always light entertaining reading. Also all these people telling me I'm funny makes me happy but wow... that's some serious pressure. Whew! I think you do good and eff them if they can't stand up to you face to face to criticize (or with a valid email since f2f is dead).
Okay, I'll admit my mother saying in an ominous tone, "I read your blog, you know" was a real blog killer too. I mean my best stories often involve her. You know what I mean?!
Brilliant post Julia...tell me who bad mouthed your blog and I will personally fly from NYC and punch them :) Violence is indeed the answer. Your blog has made me lots of friends, made me smile and made me confident in my abilities..sad that others don't feel the same as me..but that's their loss. Cx
Totally agree with Bluebeard and Elizabeths comment and the fact that you blog like you talk...which means I hear your voice when I read it so its even funnier! I for one love it
Kyla x
I can relate to most of what you said, Your card is beautiful,
I love your blog...it is what makes me blog...
I love your thoughts, ideas and look forward to Wednesdays...then remember you blog on other days and enjoy reading your other posts.
I have found that when others offer criticism they us usually don't do anything...in this case they probably don't blog at all. They are just good at criticism...
You are a blessing to many of us!
Thank you!
Hmmm, that's an interesting post Julia. There are some pressures in regular blogging, but I, for one (and I'm sure as hell NOT alone) . . . LOVE your blog.
I find your posts VERY entertaining. I love the way you write. I wish I could be that amusing.
And REALLY? Are you serious? You mean there are people on the planet that don't know who you are? Are they blind or just stupid? Oops . . . maybe too controversial a comment? Bite me!
Hugs
