It's behind you...and creeping up fast!!

I sort of bragged on WOYWW about being nearly organised for the Card Marathon tomorrow and I am.  I think.  You know how at the back of your mind you're aware that there are other commitments to be kept up with...but for as long as you don't double check and actually name the  'thing', it sort of just lingers behind you while you're busy.  Do you get that? Are you vaguely familiar with that or have I described it so badly that you now feel that I should be seeking treatment?
Well...I was forced to turn around and face the creeping commitment on Thursday morning. And do you know, I had the WRONG commitment in my head. In Juliaworld, I had in mind that the Maze Book workshop was scheduled for the beginning of December.  So imagine my badly concealed surprise when I find myself discussing with Shopkeeper Gal the number of people that are coming to do the workshop. Next week.

So in the grand tradition of 'push back' techniques, (which also involved a bin bag, such was the enormity of the situation), I cleared my desk and made a Maze Book.  I did enjoy it I must say.  I fell foul:  'familiarity breeds contempt' - oh yeah.  Ruined the piece of 12 x 12 I was going to use because I cut it wrongly.  How many of these have I made?!!  Ah well, it's not the vintage Christmas ensemble I'd planned, but at least the Workshopeers will be able to see what they're making!  And don't tell Shopkeeper Gal, I'm pretty sure I fooled her, so she doesn't need to know.  Note to self: just check the diary before it sneaks up and bites you on the butt. Seriously good advice.  Take, it.  I'm clearly not using it.

I don't even remember to go to bed at night unless I get a reminding beep from the calendar in my phone.

I put things in a diary and then don't look at it for weeks - I missed a birthday today of a US blogging friend.... Have a good weekend!!

Even writing things in the diary doesn't always work...especially if you write it on the wrong page LOL

Love the maze book.

Sorry Julia, You're not alone, however, at least yours are cards, I always confuse/miss or turn up for the wrong hospital appointment!! Lol, so glad to know I am not alone!!

But its lovely, ok me being dumb, why is it a maze card?

Hi Julia, that's good advice if you can take but if you keep your diary in your mobile phone, as I do, then when it breaks down, as it did last week, and has to be sent for repair, you're snookered. It's back from mobile phone hospital now and, guess what, my diary has disappeared. Just like that! You see, what I did not know was that the calender, unlike my directory, was not saved to my SIM card, so now I don't know where I should be or when :( Elizabeth x

Oops, forgot to say, nice maze book - love the colours. Pity about the spoiled paper - I think we've all done that at some time. Elizabeth x

You have no idea how many times I've cut that perfect piece of paper wrong. It just happens, even when we are thinking and not working on autopilot.

Your maze book is quite clever and I like all your decorations. Pat yourself on the back for the lovely bit of artwork you have created.

I completely understand the feeling. I often times have a list and check things off to make sure I'm not missing something but it never fails. I know I need to design another advent calendar that little ones can make at a festival but I haven't done it yet and forgot about it for almost a week, eeek!

Hi Julia, even though it may not be the 'vintage Christmas ensemble' the maze book is fab nevertheless ;-) And yes that does happen to me, I often have the wrong 'day of event' in my head. though luckily being a lady of leisure it doesn't usually give me an attack of the vapours!

Doesn't shopkeeper gal read your posts? Reminds me of this reality TV show I was watching yesterday where the designer was making comments about her client and I thought, won't the client watch this show and know the truth? Anyway, your Maze book is great! Patsy from

My calendar consists of pink stickies (and any scrap of paper really) that keep falling on the floor so I generally don't have a clue thats why Wednesday always bites me in the bum!!!!! Hugs Mrs A.

We put everything on our calendar. It still does not help if you have no idea what the day is, especially when we now have at least two Wednesdays in each week. I missed out all the August cards completely - apologies to all those who had their birthdays and anniversaries in that month. Seriously, Julia, that creation was wonderful, even if it was done in a rush - it does not show.

I have a diary that I forget to write in sometimes as it is mostly my studio one for my classes that I run, but it is also the ONLY one...other than that, I have a little ring bound book in my bag that has my list of things to do. I write everything in that little book and have about 8 that I have filled over the past 12 years - they are full of info that I go back to. So much better than little bits of paper that kept going through the wash in my pockets!

What a great recovery from possible disaster! With antennae and skill like this, you don't need a diary!

I sooooo know what you mean. Happens to me at least three times a year. But sometimes I do my best work when I'm winging it against a deadline. But sometimes I'd rather not find out! Love the maze book, your ladies will be delighted.

Julia....you need rollerblades to keep up with yourself my friend!!!!! I so love that book maze, do you have a pattern? I think it's stunning! If so, I would love to have you post about it or send me the details if possible!

Beautiful Maze Book! I am calendar challenged in so many ways, but will try to keep your Advice in mind :D. Though it might fall in the fuzzy area betwixt optimism and delusion lol.
