What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 65

Not a lot, and clearly I need more coffee - the photo seems very shakey! I just tidied (but not cleaned of course - witness the basket of stamps at the side - now featuring two tidy trays! Yes Wipso and Twiglet...you come on over and clean to your heart's content. I'll make coffee, tea, gin slings, you name it!
The stripey tape you can just see is stuck to the non-cutting side of my Cuttlebug B plate. I needed a slight shim and this is the perfect answer. This cheerful tape also features, as a lot of you noticed, around my Copic pens. Two reasons for that - in a workshop environment they're easily identifiable as mine (although I do share!) and more cunningly, the tape is stuck at the end with the brush nib - my most commonly used. I know there's a built in way to tell the nibs apart when lidded - but oh boy - it's pretty subtle!
Here's a pic of the left end of my desk too, just in case you're interested! My coloured scraps box, and thankfully, a nearly finished packet of Johnson's Baby Wipes. Next time they're on offer; even if it's buy one get 20 free, will you please remind me that I loathe the smell. And that I don't really use them often enough to need to buy in bulk! The Spanish postcard you can see is one of three....I don't know where they're destined to end up - someone's mailbox or a mini album or a regular LO...but probably you ought to get used to them - they'll be shuffled around my desk till I do use them!!

So come on then - show us your desk and what you're doing today....or yesterday...or tomorrow...I'm absolutely hopeless at this time line thing! Upload a pic to your blog, link it here using Mr Linky and a few of us will pop round for a visit over the next few days. Easy. No strings, no membership - drop in and out as you please.....one teeny request though - no blatant advertising, huh!

How funny, I made the same mistake with the baby wipes too - strictly unperfumed from now on! Love the Spanish postcards and look forward to seeing them again :-)

What a busy desk today! I have linked Hels too as she asked, have been hitting refresh for ages!! Great idea for marking your pens. Will be off to check some desks when I can.

Wow! I'm impressed, Julia - so tidy. Is that cos you went to Spain? Lucky you - I believe it's been gorgeous everywhere else in Europe but the UK! Hard work by the pool, I'm sure, lol. Happy WOYWW!

Love that stripey tape Julia, and your wooden shapes cut by Mr. Dunnit. I would use that postcard from Spain in a journal, it would make a fantastic journal page. Have a great day Julia, Tracy x

oo I like that stripey tape. OH and I had a heated debate over how to tell our ipods apart. We decided to get covers but then of course he wanted the one i had. Maybe i should have just used stripey tape lol

heee heee - I love customised goods - I nick Nialls electrical tape (yellow green stripes)to mark up my possessions - it's fab for screaming 'that's mine' when I turn into a 2 year old - 'I don't want to share anymore now give it back mode'...

Now I know why you were so late getting here today. You cleaned up your desk and made it really tidy before you took the photo (grin). I really laughed at the postcard getting shuffled around. That means I'll have to watch for it (or more than one) in the weeks ahead. Happy WOYWW.

I woke this morning to the sound of the 7.40am plane taking off from Blackpool airport heading for Spain - the airport is 15 miles away but that plane is noisy!! I wore my sunglasses to peep at your desk this morning, those stripes are really vibrant.

Thanks for bringing the Sunshine back from Spain...... and I'm a strictly Tesco own make baby wipe girl as I love the plastic lid thing on the top to stop them drying out.

So far everyone, including me, has a clear workspace ready to mess up! It sounds a bit hectic at the mo' for you but I'm sure you'll get back to normal creativity soon. Spain just might be one of those few things for which it's OK to put it on hold.
I spy your new friend the yellow monster still lurking... drill a hole in it's handle, as I did, so it can hang and free up valuable desk space!

Great desk, love the tape and great idea re the cutting pad. I always get the cheapest baby wipes but I do tend to go for smell rather than brand, lol!

I aspire to have as tidy a desk as yours one day. Stripey tape, mmm, that's a thought.

Hey Julia, love that stripey tape, where did it come from? Please share. I've been looking for all sorts of tapes for my journal, that would be perfect. And as for babywipes, I couldn't live without them. Try Morrisons own brand, don't think they pong too bad, they are usually on offer and they do the job a treat!!!

Definately more coffee needed - i've been trying to decide what those intriguing shapes are - the white ones showing in the pot towards the back of your desk - but the piccy is a bit blurry today.

Happy WOYWW to you! What caught my eye today (aside from your gun!) was your colored scraps box. That project - putting together a file or something to contain all of my scraps in - has been on my To Do List 4-ever! Mine continue to run wild for the cats to eat, for me to find 2 weeks after I need them, and all that jazz!

Have a wonderful week! Happy Sept to you!

I thought I was being sensible keeping my baby wipes in a plastic box - still in their packet, of course - but after a couple of months they start to smell REALLY revolting so I won't be doing that any more!

This is lovely and tidy - I had a clearout at the weekend, but you wouldn't think so from the state of my desk!

Your desk looks unrecognizeable - soooo tidy! I like your new look B plates, Can I blog that as a tip in the Cupboard? Bet there are lots of Cuttlers (including me) that lose them! Also a good idea if your plates are very cut up! ikki

I do tend to buy the baby wipes when it's BOGOF, for some reason there's suddenly a must have them need. They were brilliant at getting my clown make up off, but I haven't had that on for quite some time now.. Your desk looks very productive as usual. Didn't have time to link this morning as I'm dog sitting. My legs are shorter, or it could be that the desk here is higher, but for sure, my arms are longer... I can see at the end of this two weeks, I'll look a lot like MR Tickle!
Have a crafty day.

Nice use of the stripy tape. Terrible too how awful unperfumed baby wipes can smell, I use some cheap ones I get from Home Bargains that have a hint of a smell but a bearable one. And since I found two unopened packets while I was tidying I don't need to buy any for a while

have a good one

I like that cheerful tape! Good idea to put that around your pens.

Fab desk this week. I had to laugh about the Johnson baby wipes..that smell makes me sick too! My DH bought loads when our boy was tiny so I used to make him change the nappies as I found the smell of the wipes worse than the smell of the nappies! Johnson do a fragrance free version which are also often on offer - much better!

No more baby wipes, but it was you I got the tip from! I've just installed a pack in my craft room. Actually, I'm not really using them that much, can't get into the habit and can't help thinking they are terribly wasteful and I should just use a damp cloth instead??

Like the Spanish postcard x

Hi Julia. I'm back after a hiatus. I got totally swamped by life but I'm slowly emerging. I know it's late in the day but I had to join in today because my workspace is such a complete mess and I wanted to share it with someone and noone else would appreciate it but you and your ladies!
I see your numbers have grown even more since I was last here. No surprise--you've got such a great thing going here. Cheers.

Hi!
I'm really enjoying WOYWW! I love your idea about having your colored scraps right there. I always have to dig through my box. I've been meaning to buy baby wipes for my stamps for a while (I haven't been stamping very long). Thanks for the tip about the scented ones!

Unknown said...

Although I can be a really messy crafter, something I ALWAYS do, is clean the stamp i've been working on immediately. Straight away - with my tesco blue stripe value non perfumes baby wipes. Then use another for my inky fingers, then another one for the desk etc etc... Its loads easier than looking at a basket full then losing the will!!! I'm not that tidy elsewhere tho...

Could have done with Spain last week as the weather was horrible here, but the sun is out now. Yippee.

Lin said...

Great idea of yours with the tape on your non-cutting plate.

That's how to remember to use your coloured scraps, keep them on your desk in a box! Mine are filed. Everything in my life is filed. I am not actually that tidy cos I have ME and tidying up is a killer on the energy, but boy am I a**l. Everything is co-ordinated, colour or alphabet, there is a place for everything, but sadly everything is no longer in it's place. My Daughter cracked up when she spotted that I had my scrap papers filed in alphabetical order. I can't help it, it was drilled into us as children that you look after things you have, cos we didn't have many, lol I do hate cleaning though.

Carmen said...

I tell you what, it's amazing how a 2 second job like taking off a pen lid can wind you up when you take off the wrong end innit? Been using my mammoth collection of Copics a lot this week and had so many AAAARGH moments like that. May nick your idea.

I'm late. Because I thought it was Tuesday yesterday. Sorry :P
