What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 688

I’ve moved on from cherries. Now I’m playing with Ladybirds. Also new stash, the ladybird punch.
I confess that when it arrived, I’d forgotten why I ordered it. Yes it’s cute, but generally I don’t do much cute. However, it may well have been as part of an attempt to use up scrap. I like to think so. Although, like the cherries, my goodness, they don’t use up a lot per punching! It doesn’t matter, it’s all useful making. As you can see, I’m back in the kitchen, and the not tidying up of the desk top persists. I was in Costco on Sunday (the air con was rather nice) and the box of pastel felt tips fell into the huge trolley. Everything else I bought was on the list. Call it a pay off for doing a shopping run on a day when I think half of the population of Southampton had decided to go there too. Mind you, the longest and most persistent queues were for the petrol….20p PER LITRE cheaper than the high street. That’s quite significant isn’t it.  Anyway, I haven’t tried the felt tips, nor have I seen them before. But like a lot of things, once you’ve seen something, then you see them everywhere don’t you….I looked them in the eye in Tesco yesterday. I took it as a sign that I was meant to have them. Obv.
The summer temperatures will probably mean I don’t sit at my desk for a couple of days now; I’ll probably be back to gentle stitching of the embroidery while I chase shade around mine or some one else’s garden. I know it’s hot and a lot of people can’t cope and it’s causing a lot of problems, but ah, I do love it. Just please take care of yourselves! Go on then, before you check out the ice tray in the freezer, link up so we can see how cool you are!

I’m sure is just saw those pens on our wander thru Salisbury the other day! Darling Daughter may even have some. We follow a YouTube channel called Jet Pens and they always showcase the neat new Japanese stationery so probably saw them there. Never did get used to Ladybirds- it’s LadyBUGs to me. But still cute. I go in waves with paper piecing. With the right scraps it can be fab but fiddly for sure and my eyes are now less good year on year.oh well…
Happy Woyww and stay cool how ever you can!

I'm glad you enjoy the weather; it's like snow, fine if you don't need to go places and do things!! enjoy your pastel felt tips, and show us your fab colouring when you use them! Take care and stay cool. Helen xx

Oh my goodness, the plus point of not being able to sleep is number one spot! Hopefully that will also benefit Tracey as she's loads of stock left and my post is another big advert in my vain attempt to help empty her shop for her.
Admittedly I have sat out for very short periods when it was cooler last week but it's not for me on top of the constant menopausal heat with hot flashes on top of that even, feel like my hands are going to explode sometimes quite unpleasant. But who cares now I am the sole owner of ALL the Basic Grey papers from Tracey's shop! As for the pens I saw a couple of posts about paint markers last week and need to get myself to Asda for a cool off and to check it out. Can I assume Southampton was for a post-op checkup? It always seemed dead when we were there on Sundays whilst our son was in Uni there. I guess they were all in Costco especially as Sainsburys was closed on Sundays! Loved cherries last week and love ladybird too, far too amazing how little paper is actually required for punching/diecutting. Have a super WOYWW BJ#1

Morning Julia! Up at a ridiculous time this morning but went to bed early. Can't have one without the other it seems but a tad longer than six hours a night would be helpful I feel. Still, it's nice to make the most of these days - like you I am loving the summer. this last week has been perfect but bracing myself for a couple of sticky days. I was gifted a huge bag of pens by my nail lady the other day (her 16 yr old is no longer going to do art apparently) and I now have another mountain of colouring implements. I really should do some colouring. No pastel felt tips though so I find myself wondering if I need them..... Have a great week, hopefully we can catch up soon. love n hugs Cindy xx

Good morning Julia, I have seen pastel sharpies and pastel highlighters as well as pastel felt tips in Tesco. 20p litre less on fuel sounds a bargain these days. We haven’t had the heart here - near Congleton or when we were in Yorkshire. Of course that doesn’t mean it’s not about to hit us! Stay cool in the shade. Happy WOYWW. Angela #6

Hi Julia, I'm here a bit earlier than usual and the sun is already very bright outside. I like it warm but not so hot as I also like to keep busy I'm not good at just sitting. The punch looks lovely but it's something I rarely use now though I still have plenty of them packed away and don't know why I keep them all really when what I do need is the space Lol! The pens look interesting and I look forward to seeing how they perform. The months seem to be moving fast now so I had better think about making some ATCs ready for the Crop as I don't want to arrive there empty handed on my first visit. Take care and have a very happy woyww, Angela x9x

You make me feel human, that desk is a perfect ditto to mine 2...how can I get so much out to create a tiny tag? And looking for that 1 thing is the biggest time consumer. Just thankful there have been no funerals this week and I had time to play. We had 3 days of beautiful weather, heat is scheduled for the rest of the week again high 90's and humid. College kids will be off to school next week, so I look for businesses to be closing. "NO HELP" Such a mess here. Enjoy a good week have fun with the New Stamp and stay Happy !

Hi Julia. Can never have too many colouring items :-) I love a bit of colouring. I don't like the very hot weather I must admit. It causes prickly heat and makes life so miserable for me. I am out twice this week and will be outdoors. Not happy. Have a good week. Anne x 14

Funny how things just drop in your trolley in Aldi. Last time I was in, it was a kettle (mind you my old one was leaking!)
Doing a virtual retreat at the weekend, many things fell into my basket!

Julia I seem remember a few weeks back your comment on my Snoopy birthday card post said you’d ordered a number item of cute variety from shop-girl because you had found a sudden need of them so perhaps lady birds was one? Anyway the are lovely and you are using them which is more than what happens with some unexpected buys.
Am sure the pens will become most useful when you open them! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‚
Don’t die of shock that I’m back again in two weeks from last visit.
Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

Those pens look rather fab Julia - will have to look out for them. I had noticed that fuel had come down a littel but 20p a litre less than the high street - no wonder there were queues. Have fun with the ladybird punch. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #12

I love how things just "jump" into my cart! Surely a sign that we were supposed to have it! Those ladybugs certainly are cut, they would go great on a card or journal page (especially covering up something you don't like!). Embroidery in the shade sounds lovely, I'm assuming it would be accompanied by a tall glass of something delicious with ice? Have a great week, Inky, Mittsy and Lindart #19

Blogger still playing up so I'm using my trusty old tablet for commenting. We used to go to Costco when we were teaching but haven't been since- it's not especially accessible. I love the look of those pens! I hope you enjoyed your time outdoors today. Hugs, Chrisx

Now we’re back from Jan’s I can say that I crochet later in the day in the car and in the afternoon in Jan’s living room, where she’s made it nice and cool. At home we have an air cooler like Neet’s.
Your pastel pens look very tempting and the 3D ladybirds are cute. Take care
