What’s on your Workdesk? Wednesday 644

Well look at me, going straight in with the picture! That’s because I’m smug! I’ve made two cards for the marathon day. And I’ve kitted them. And I’ve tidied my desk in anticipation of the next make. And I spent some time on Tuesday afternoon in the workshop. I’m scheduling this because I need to spend another hour or so in the workshop tomorrow before I go and visit my Mama. I don’t do a lot of hands on helping at work now, too wonky; the job I’m helping with is time consuming but easy, and because we’re doing it together, there’s no dust being created. And that’s a biggie for me, I have to use a gel in my wonky eye and it attracts dust like a magnet, a joinery workshop in full production is not a good place for dust avoidance! Anyway, we’re masking windows. Some apparently clever designer or architect has specified windows in two colours..white on the inside and a very light grey for the outside. Which means literally hours (3 pairs of windows and frames, 2 doors and frames) of taping and masking and checking for straight lines of tape so they don’t look ridiculous on the edges when they’re opened. So I’m feeling quite accomplished this week already. You can’t see it from the picture, but the numbered list for the card countdown has numbers six and five crossed through with a big black self congratulatory slash of pen. Four to go, and with some priority I must say. So, gentle desker, that’s my week so far, domestic and crafty. Would be great to hear about yours too, and of course, have a sight of what you’re currently doing as a distraction from real life!

I spotted that lovely tree stamp,in the corner! It looks quite funky and cute. I loathe masking when painting for just that reason… get it wrong and you get wonkiness and not in a cute way. Bah! Enjoyed your interview a lot! And it made a tiresome kitchen task more bearable so thanks for that. Have a great day and rock on with your card kits!

Well done on the kits and I hope you get some more done soon. Good luck with the doors and windows, it sounds very involved and detailed.. typical designers; full of good ideas and not a care for who has to implement them! Have a good visit with your Mama. Helen

With my bleary eyes (yes, just got up) I read if that you had "knitted" two cards! Of course yu swaid 'kitted' and not 'kNitted'. My eyes feel as if they are full of grit and only the other day I said I needed to get some false tears for my eyes, as they are very dry.
Anyway we did not come to talk optics, unless we are talking about gin here.
Well done on the prep and the window sounds awfully complicated, I just cannot visualise them at all, bet they are good though.
Enjoy your visit and forget everything else.
Hugs, Neet 9 (or thereabouts, see I've forgotten already) xxx

Good morning busy lady
I’d like to say this retirement malarkey is a lot quieter than what you’re upto but it’s not, it’s full on and wonderful.
Good luck with the day job. I like the sound of the colours you’re doing. Will we see pics ?

Good morning Julia, I woke up feeling yuck this morning! Bad head and coldified/. Couldn’t find that Christmas paper anywhere in U.K. I love that Christmas tree stamp on the left. I must have missed something as I don’t know about the marathon or why you are making kits for it. 🙈. Angela #8

Hi Julia, loving the tree stamp it looks like it's going to make some fun cards. Looks like a Woodware to me. Not sure what the Marathon is though. Sounds like you've been busy doing other stuff too, bet the window is extra perfect with your help. Have a lovely week and a woyww full of smiles. Hugs Angela x16x

Glad you’ve had a productive week, Julia. Could you wear goggles if you have to be in the workshop for taping?
Not being a card person, I m not sure what ‘kitting a card’ means. Making bits for someone to be able to assemble it?
Anyway hope you have a good week
Happy WOYWW

Enjoy sharing the smiles with your Mum, Hoping it's bright and sunny for your drive, nice weather always helps. DUST! it's here outside with all the farmers doing corn, he said he's never seen it this bad. They have to stop and clean off the machines to prevent fires. It's a CRAZY world we're in at the moment in every phase of daily living. You have to have a lot of patience to go through all these improvements Julia, but you'll love the new windows. I can clean mine from inside, they fold out with a click of a button. Good luck with Your clean desk will make for a great time messing it up in your next creative moment Have a great week.

You came up as an Anonynous Commenter on my blog this morning! I mean, I knew it was you but isn’t that weird,? Maybe because you’ve changed your provider - dunno. Anyway, glad you’ve had a productive week kitting and taping! Nice tree stamp btw. Really hope we can meet up soon,

Good morning, Miss Julia.
Sounds like we've both been busy bees. Do be careful of the dust. The windows sound as if they'll be beautifu when in their new home. Mr. D is oh so talented to take on that specialty order.
Hugs & Creative Blessings! Kelly #19

Smug is good :) I love how much space you have to come back to. to knock out the next round of cross um off the lists. oh boy that is a lot of windows to tape I hope they appreciate you Julia. sometimes taping tiny pieces of wc paper does not go straight for me and I always think in the back of my mind you can just die cut it straight after the fact lol. Hopefully this does not strain your eyes too much. ~Stacy #22

Hi Julia! there's nothing worse than dust stuck to an eyeball - ouch! So I'm glad things are getting better in that department. Sounds like architects just like to make extra work for people...! Your desk looks nice and productive today! Good for you getting 2 cards done already! Have a great week, Lindart #23

That's a fab tree stamp on your desk, Julia. I can well imagine it's extremely dusty in a joinery workshop and not at all good for you. But the smell of newly cut wood is one of life's pleasures. Hope you got those windows and frames all taped up just perfect. And I also hope your mother is doing well too. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #24
