What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 592

This is scheduled. I hope! I’m off for outdoor coffee and before I go, I have a short list of chores that require me to be elsewhere. I’m being collected from home so have to ensure I get it all sorted and get back home before anyone suspects that I’m busy and not home!  So this pic was taken at about 530pm on Tuesday. Gloomy. There’s some bright white on my desk though...
See at the right..I’ve got a new cutter. I had a virtual coffee with Cindy on Saturday and had to confess that I’d stood at the sink and quaffed the coffee before joining the party because there was absolutely no safe room on my desk. When we’d said goodbye, I knocked my old grey cutter onto the floor. Picked it up, dropped it. The corner shattered. I could have cried, it’s done me such a good service for years and although I was thinking of changing it because it was really getting a bit dull in the blade section, I wasn't ready. Separation anxiety looming, I ordered another..there are certain things you I cannot work without. So it arrived yesterday and I’ve slotted it into the position always occupied by a cutter. Meanwhile, everything else on the desk will need dusting when I get to it. I’ve made a start..tidied up the scrapping stuff and got to some card making on Saturday afternoon. Haven’t been back to it all yet; not entirely sure what I’m doing with these images which actually explains why I haven't rushed other jobs to get back to my desk! See the cuppa there in the middle...I put it there whilst I took the picture. Can’t have wanted it much - typing this post at 10.25pm and I’ve just realised that it’s still there! Show off your tidy and cold coffee free desks then, I’d like to catch up with you. Put WOYWW in your post title please, and link here. Marvs.

Well that was unexpected! And what is the fun of a tidy coffee free desk, I ask you? I have....4 cutters. Wait. No 5. I hate most of them. I’ve collected them over the years and none has lived up to the hype. I wish you well with your new one. If you love it, she are the name. Maybe there will be a 6th one added to my collection. Or I will carry on with the default of a ruler and a craft knife.

Happy Woyww!

Morning Julia. Good to chat yesterday. Meant to ask... would you like your jigsaw back after it is done? Or do you want me to pass it on? It's a Thomas Kinkade, so... Anyway. Hope you enjoy your new cutter. How reassuring to find others leave hot drinks totally forgotten!! I left a cuppa yesterday... and the day before... must be my advanced age - senility setting in
Take care dear girl. God bless.

When I left the UK in February, my old guillotine was one thing I had to leave behind. I was still using it every day after the packers had been and gone at the beginning of January. However it went to a good home at my sister's... And then once here I could not believe that I found a very similar replacement in a junk shop!!
Happy woyww!

I am glad I am not the only one who gets attached to these things. I have several cutters so you could have given me a shout and had one of mine. Remember my friend in America, she bought me one of those Cuterpillar ones and I love it. Very expensive but they do the job and say you never need replace the blade. We will see but four years on ...
oh gosh I forgot Cindy's coffee morning - must send her a little something by way of an apology - still got to send my friend a donation for her having her head shaved weeks ago - my memory is terrible. Will get on to it today!
Right, just going to have a sip of my hot ginger and see what others have been doing, Cold coffee - YUK!
Hugs, Neet 8 xx

Everyone loves a nice new bit of equipment!! Enjoy. As for cold coffee - when I am busy crafting I often end up drinking it cold - I just get so engrossed and forget it's there. Maybe crafting is a remedy for other addictions - just craft and the urge goes away. lol xx Jo

RIP dear old grey cutter....hope the new one lasts as long! It is funny what we can't live without, made me think what I would instantly replace if it died - I guess it would be the sewing machine itself, I've got enough of everything else, lol!! Hope you have a lovely time this morning!

How frustrating about your cutter, I'm glad you managed to find a replacement that you are happy with - my Tonic one went to the charity shop recently, I used it about twice and couldn't get on with it, the lines just didn't cut straight - or maybe that was me - but I'm back to a Stanley knife and steel rule.
Hope you have a lovely day out and a great week,

Hi Julia, I’ve that cutter, did loads of research, it’s the best blade around, brilliant! I bought it and totally love it now, took me while to get used to it as was different from my old one.
It’s horrid that things break but at least you’ve new pal now. Just eye ball with cutting edge, and I use measuring bits on side a lot as a good guide. Hope your day AWOL is super fun!
I won’t get to chat much. My days are shorter although daylight saving means there’s more daylight .. quite deceiving that.
Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x #16 I think.

Hi Julia, I had to smile though it's not really funny. Some time ago I broke my beloved Cuttlebug machine and at the time the only way I could replace it quickly was to drive to Skegness to Cuttingedgecrafts. I was so upset that I made hubby drive there immediately so I know exactly how you feel. Have a lovely week and enjoy the new trimmer. Happy woyww, Angela x16x

Hi Julia, sorry about your cutter accident. I hope your new one pleases you as well. There’s a black hole in my house that eats crochet hooks, and won’t give them back till I’ve bought a new one, because if I’m in the middle of a project I can’t change sizes. Take care, happy WOYWW

Hope you like your new cutter-it takes a while to get used to a different cutter. My DH gies. Ad at the number of half drunk cups of coffee and water that get left all over our house. Just off to finish sewing my cotton bag and make a coffee. Drinking it may be a different thing!

Hi Julia, not much hope of a tidy desk today, but it is coffee free! I had to take mine into the lounge this morning so I wouldn't knock it over. I do love my cutters (so much easier to spell than guillotine - I had to look it up again!) Since I am a tired bunny, I am having 40 winks before I do the rounds xx

I am so terrible at scheduling my posts for WOYWW because I have to convert the time and it usually doesn't end well!! I have a nifty cup holder that attaches to my desk with a trash can attached to it. So as to avoid catastrophes. But I often have a cup of tea and a bottle of water so the water usually goes into the holder since I am less likely to spill my tea. Of course, I will say that and then have a spill!! It's sunny here this morning but the winds are supposed to pick up and make a mess. Our internet has already failed this morning, so my kids were in a state waiting to get back to their classes. I tried to explain to them that this will happen from time to time and the teachers will have to understand. Well, I am off for now. I hope you are having a lovely day.

I sure hope you enjoyed your day. Anytime anyone can take a day and enjoy the things they love, we all should be ecstatic. Hopeful with crops winding down I and a friend can take off and enjoy a much needed day away. WITH A FEMALE.
Seems accidents happen with our counter things when we have too much on our schedule or are in a hurry. Glad you got one so soon and can enjoy. Hope it's durable and you have an easy transition. As I age most NEW things seem more confusing and less sturdy. Have a great week.

Oh tragedy! I hate it when an old faithful gives up, doubly tragic when it's caused by an unfortunate accident. May your new cutter give you many perfectly trimmed edges!! Lovely to see you on Saturday, a new thing for me but I could see how one could sit and get things done whilst chatting. Have a great week, Cindy # 13

Hi, Julia!
Checking in....
No posting yet. Have some drywall and new insulation up in the room with the leak. Still taping and texturing to go and then the floor. Oh, the floor! Half of the room is down to the cement, the other still has carpet under the remaining stuff that I didn’t have any place to relocate....

I think I finally have found the two most perfect cutters, (ok,maybe 3 best). A Cutterpillar Pro, recently purchased a Tonic Tim Holtz guillotine, for the smaller stuff and I have had a huge old office guillotine purchased at a tag sale for $1.00 for the larger, heavier stuff! I should be set, right?

Take care!

Happy Wednesday,
Kathryn

I think I tried to comment 3 times but before I even started the first 2 times I got sidetracked. Guess 3rd times a charm. I have the big green Cutterpillar Pro for prepping for classes, a Tonic style 12" cutter, and a Fiskars guillotine.
I laughed about you standing at the sink with your coffee! Then seeing your cup in the middle of your desk.
Anyway, hope you have a great week!

I'm glad you could find a replacement for your cutter! Your desk looks wonderfully crafty : D.

Hi Julia, I hope yesterday was more productive for you than it was for me. Looking back, I'm not sure what I did but clearly it kept me too busy to comment. I hope your replacement cutter gives you as much pleasure as your old one did. We do get attached to the tools that give good service. I know I'd miss my little guillotine should it give up on me. Otherwise, your desk looks ready for business, except for the cold tea, of course! Hugs, Elizabeth x #26
