What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 579

Well. Boom. Whizz, actually. It’s ridiculous isn’t it. Is this font OK? I’m back to using the Blog Touch app because the changes to Blogger haven’t made any difference to the ludicrous and incredible difficulty involved in blogging on an iPad. Moving on....There couldn’t be much less room could there. I fussy cut all the little gals and am now trying to make cards from them, using the coloured cards. I need the cards to be relatively uncomplicated and quick, so far so good. You can see the snarky sticker book on the right under the ATG gun and on top of the small paper trimmer. I’ve started to cut the stickers up and use them as alphas now, I can’t let them just sit there unused and some of them I’m really not going to use, they’re too mean. I think Amelia asked if all my scissors have a specific use and if so, how do I tell them apart. Only one pair has a specific use and they are black Teflon for cutting sticky stuff. Every single other pair is just used at will...mostly when I can’t find the pair last used because of the mess - and that only takes minutes, frankly. The Teflon pair were brilliant. But.....they dulled and so obviously, I sharpened them. And that took off the Teflon coating, from right where it’s most needed. Sigh. Still use them for sticky stuff, but really, they’re only sharp snippers now. That little turquoise-y book at left is my re-purposed photo album, now containing die cuts that I didn’t use at the time of cutting, or multi cut because I could. Slightly smug about this organisational tool, of course it was a tip from Kelly Desker, not a brain wave of mine! So my desk will remain a mess till this round of cards are made, then I’ll have to tidy up. Really, I will. Show and tell then, gentle reader, show me how neatly you work......

I LOVE your desk... When mine gets like this my husband says how can you possibly work in this???

Those girls are looking good with the coloured cards Julia. I know what you mean about the snarky stickers. I will only be using some of them on journal pages rather than cards. Hope you get done soon and can find all your scissors (how many pairs do you have in total?). Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #1

my spare die cuts are in an envelope on top of my paints and need a better place... oh and I have some phrases in an old business card box to the side of my craft mat.....they keep getting in the way too!
I agree about the snarky stickers, just don't use them.. I love how you've colour matched the gals to the cards. Helen #2

Morning Julia. Oh dear - I think I must be a real failure at this craft lark... Your desk looks incredibly well used - and I love the Hello card right there in the front. You should probably stay away from my desk today - it would make you feel really dizzy and unwell - it's empty! Nothing doing on it. I blame Wimbledon, of course... And then, to cap it all, you have that lovely old photo album containing your diecuts... I don't have one of those either - I cut the dies as I need them, so don't store any. Oh me,oh my! I am bereft and downhearted at my failures
Take care, lovely gal. God bless.

Julia, I keep one pair of scissors for cutting any kind of sticky tape, but otherwise I use whatever scissors are to hand.

Yes it’s rather cluttered this week but your desk does look REALLY used and that’s what it’s for so well done you. Hope you had a great birthday yesterday and we’re really spoiled.

Nothing like a busy desk to show a real crafter. Real ones don't have time to tidy so I guess i am not a real crafter as i tidy up. Blame it on my Girl Guide upbringing, should never have joined and strived for all those badges.
Glad you found a use for those girls. I am still kind of longing but I think that is as far as it will get for the time being, the urge is not there as much at the moment, so many other things taking over my head.
Of course you need lots of scissors, who doesn't? If I lose one pair of small fussy cut scissors I use two or three so good job I have four pairs to choose from. Found one the other day in the most unusual place, trouble is I cannot rememeber where it was. See, my head is all over.
Happy WOYWW week ahead,
Hugs, Neet 11 xx

A sign of a busy crafter and why waste time tidying up when you are fussy cutting life really is too short. I'm liking the idea of using the album for die cuts, a nice handy on the go size. I'm sure you could cut up individual words from that snarky set, maybe good for little projects and ATC's. I agree about the mean side of them..

The card looks great - it works so well on that beautiful bright red background. I have Teflon scissors but to be honest I've found they gunk up just as much as the normal ones do when cutting sticky stuff - they do clean up quicker but I don't know that I'd bother to get any again, they were cheap so that might be the reason.
Hope you have a happy and creative week,
Diana xx #14

I have a couple of pairs of scissors for sticky jobs - and then I use "Sticky stuff" remover to wipe the blades to remove the adhesive that clings to them. It works well. (Lakeland) Your desk looks like the untidy part of mine. I manage to leave one tidy end for photographing my "show and tell" and then crop so that all looks immaculate! xx Jo

Hi Julia, so much for the new blogger stuff it's just not efficient in too many ways so given up on it. The little gals are so sweet I'm sure they were worth all the cutting time. I have a thing about scissors, think it comes from my years of teaching Textiles. I always kept separate scissors for each job, it was the one thing I was really strict about and I stick by it even now. I have to say I thought my desk was untidy today but you've beaten me but you've got more going on too so it's excused whereas mine is a lazy desk. Have a lovely and productive WOYWW, Angela x15x

It's a triumph! I'm not sure what of but enjoy the moment, lol. I have lots of scissors too which I do use for specific tasks, my favs are the little pointy Fiskars ones that I use for snipping threads and notching seam allowances - so satisfying (sad but true!)
Hope you had a lovely birthday yesterday xx

Morning lovely lady, I hope you had a fab birthday. I'm a big fan of a lot of scissors. I seem to have certain types for certain things and I have spares of each ones of those! I need to know more about these snarky stickers although allowing for current mood means that I would probably use all of them very quickly indeed! I'm sort of jealous of your book of die cuts - you'll see in my post that I have more of the equivalant of the entire Encyclopedia Brittanica (is that even still a thing?!) Have a great week, Lisa-Jane #16

Morning Julia

I love your desk, it looks well lived in. I always like a bit of chaos and if you're like me you always know where everything is, apart from what the craft fairies seem to hide just when you want it. Maybe that's why crafters need so many pairs of scissors.
I like your album for keeping die cuts in, I put mine in a little shoe box, but have now tidied up and can't find it...typical.
Have a good week

I've heard from a little bird singing that it was your birthday yesterday?. Well!! Happy Belated Birthday - Huggles!!! πŸ’–πŸ€—

My desk is just like yours today, or kind of, It is probably going messier when I try to get more card done. The scissors are my "problem" too - I used to have one specific to cutting double tape, and of a sudden, I have more than one, I wonder how that can be as I can't recall buying new ones (hehe)

Thank you for being there, Julia!

Thank you so much for sharing!

A cluttered desk is said to be evidence of a very creative mind. That's my story anyway,
I have been trying on and off to link for about three hours just wouldn't let me and then suddenly bingo I'm in! No rhyme nor reason. Anne x 21

Totally Mrs Neat I'm afraid, always have been, always will be I suppose. I mean it gets messy "during" crafting but I tidy up each time as I need to sleep in my bed and that is always a dumping ground during crafting....

Loving your simple coloured cards they look super. As for scissors I have a special pair for fabrics which are definitely NOT used for paper.

Hi Julia, sorry to be running late, but Tim & Lyndsay had lots of stuff delivered to us while they've been in hospital, and their Sis, Ellen, is transporting it today from ours to the bungalow, hence I've been a tad occupied, lol. Love the desk shot, nice to know we craft in much the same space, no matter the size of the desk, lol. Font is fine by the way. It's funny, but I keep checking I'm on the new form of Blogger, as apart from an initial font size problem, I can't say I've noticed any difference. I wonder if it's because my OS is Windows,on my pc, or Google Chrome,on my Chromebook, so Android?Stay safe, sending love & hugs to you both, Shaz #5 XxXxXx

Hello! I am in a good mood this morning because I woke early and started working at my craft desk on some cards or at least components for cards. I am in a cardmaking zone that hasn't happened in so long so I am going to ride it for I know it can't last forever. My kids are still in bed, summer is a nice time for them to sleep in but they aren't fooling me, I know it's because they stayed up late last night!! Your desk looks like mine every time I work. I fill up my desk with stuff. It can't be helped. I like your cute little image you fussy cut. Oh scissors are a funny thing over here too. I have some sticky fingers in my house and I will sit down to craft and they are gone from my desk. So now, I too have bought several backups. I still love my Tim Holtz with the red handles for fussy cutting and have made big threats to avoid their absence. So they usually go for the others. Well I am going to go snoop a little before I get on with work. Have a wonderful day and stay well, my friend.

HI Julia, I think the photo album sounds very handy and portable ( which I know you haul your toys out to play so very practical too.)
me, when mine gets that bad I have to stop and start putting things away if I am in the middle of a marathon creating session so, I hardly ever shoot it that bad as, I do not stop until I can see the mat again ha ha. and speaking of that glass mat, it really shows off every speck of dust or glue blob that hits it so, that has to be cleared to be cleaned frequently sometimes mid project or the spots just bug me to pieces. yeah, I don't have that much ocd but, I will stop to vacuum if too many diecut bits hit the carpet too. ~Stacy #27

Happy WOYWW. Well done for getting all those gals cut out. Did you try with the Scan n Cut? I have quite a few pair of scissors, but most live in the revolving 'Everything Mary' storage thingy (or in the bag I use for embroidery/knitting stuff), which sits right next to me (filled with glues, highlighter pens and other useful stuff). That tip of using a photo album is genius. Ali x #29

Well I’m (sort of) glad to hear that I’m not the only one that is having trouble with the new blogger on my iPad. UGH! Now I have to go to my computer to create blog posts or at least add photos. I know what you mean about the snarky comments...at first you think, so funny but who would you ever send any of those comments to??!! LOL. Your desk looks great! Very busy! Have a great week. Lovely messy, busy desk Julia! I'm afraid I'm like you, I'm not a tidy worker!! They say that really creative people are untidy workers because they go with the creative flow so much that they can't get distracted by mundane things like tidying up. Thank you for visiting. Mrs Persistence is certainly going to try and stick at getting my bladder probs sorted! Then it will be the hernia repair, once the Exeter hospital gets round to it - everything has been put back massively by the lockdown. I am very disappointed in our so-called "summer" weather at the moment. We always seem to get the best of it in May, with perhaps another brief burst in September.

Hi, Julia!
Your desk looks just like mine! It’s productive and inspirational all at once.
I share your same scissor philosophy! Which ever I find first! My Teflon non stick pair, isn’t either!
Every so often I line them all up, and clean off the sticky off all of them.

Be safe and Happy Wednesday!

I hope you are on to bigger and better things after going into a new age group. Any changes in media, blogger, FB etc are a pain. SILK wants to take over everything I own. LEAVE ME ALONE I am old and like what I am use too!
Great idea for photo books usage. I've several and my smalls will work great for this. THANKS. I couldn't post this week, was dealing with a kidney stone, better but sore. Refused ER, loaded up on Advil and ice. I do like your darker font, makes it easy to read for me.EYES are also an issue !!!! Oh Julia sorry you are aging it only goes down hill !!! I had to laugh so hard about your scissors... I, too, have 'scissors for sticky things' but the blades are constantly sticky too - guess they are not right for the job but I'm too lazy to look/buy another pair. I'm glad you cannot hear me when I start cutting with it (although I should KNOW by now it will turn out to be a mess and I should clean them with alcohol first.) I admire you - again - for using the colored backgrounds to make cards! Thanks for your visit and yes, inspiration stroke and created something on the background that was on my desk - you will see it one day on my blog (when the person for whom it is has received it) Have a great week dear one, stay safe! Big hug from the Netherlands! Marit #20
