What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 532

Although this photo is newly taken, the desk state is almost gathering dust. I had just settled in for a ‘session’ on Saturday after lunch when my amazing skill set was required elsewhere and I didnt get back to my desk. And still haven’t.
I was trying to figure out what to do with a cut and emboss folder after it was cut and embossed. Clever idea, but making me struggle; I wonder if it’s the subject (er, Seasonal) or just that it’s too much of a finished thing. Making nice with some of those lovely inky inks though, I might even use the waste paper for a change! I had a birthday present to buy from Amazon and suddenly found myself looking at stuff for me too...shocking selfish. Those aqua brushes were a bit of a bargain and have wonderful broad to teeny brushes. It doesn’t mean I’ll be able to use them effectively, but it may help. At any point. I must have had those inks on my mind - which, I should say, make wonderful dense watercolours. I don’t know when I’ll get back to this particular desk, but the longer I am away from it, the more I yearn to be there, and that’s good, because usually when I have to do this slightly experimental stuff, I get bored...very easily.
Come join then, you less bored by your own work Deskers, show me what you’re up to. Link your WOYWW titled post here please! Lovely.

I am sorry you got called away from your desk and that you work out what to do with your cut and embossed card! the waste looks definitely good enough to use!

Is that the result of your cut and emboss folder that we can see in blue? It looks lovely, I do like how the colour changes from light to dark. I can only think it has something to do with those aqua brushes as there are telltale remnants on our desk cover sheet.
Oh Julia, I had to smile at your temptation to buy something for yourself whilst researching a gift for someone, happens to us all my lovely. Does you good once in a while to treat yourself.
Must go and get my shower, takes forever to do my hair these days and it does not look wonderful for all the effort.
Hugs, Neet xx 1

Morning Julia. Good grief - the wanderer has (temporarily) returned!! Back in the land of WOYWW for a few weeks before gadding off again... I really like that blue piece - but as it is a cut and emboss folder piece, I'm assuming that is the piece you will be using? Hmmm... what indeed will you put in the gap? Hope we get to see whatever you do make. Love the idea of looking for something for yourself as well - I also seem to have been doing a lot of that lately - take heart - you are not on your own!
Take care. God bless.

Those colours are gorgeous! I want to go and play now with my aqua brushes and inks! I too have to go and purchase a gift from Amazon - I might get tempted too! Anne X @5

Good Morning Julia. Love your colourful desk this morning. The card in front looks quite exciting, especially the rich blue colours, add some inks to that paper and use it up on backgrounds etc. As for treating yourself that not a bad thing, I can always justify doing just that. Hope you Enjoy a good week whatever you get up to and I'll see you next week. Hugs Rita xx

Sometimes life gets in the way of us doing the things we want to but I’m sure when you eventually get back to your desk that it will be even more fun....enjoy.

Hi Julia, I am not taking part in WOYWW this week, but had to stop by and see what you have been doing.

You deserve the treat of the brushes.

Happy WOYWW.

Despite it being my birthday week I’m going to have to have a mahoosive clearing session of the workroom as I have an esteemed visitor arriving tomorrow and I don’t know what her climbing skills are like. You can’t see the floor you see for stuff. Having visitors is good motivation for clearing at least one room.
Have a good week Julia. I’m off for a PhD (project half done) day on Friday so there’ll be like minded company to enjoy

I adore the colour of that blue! Those inks sound fabulous but I'm determined not to even look at them as I already have too many colouring things that are sitting unused! Hope you manage to get back to your desk today!!

Aqua brushes sound like fun. Are they just brushes or are they more like coloured paint sticks? (Obviously a question from a novice!!) xx Jo

We all have experienced being called away from our much loved desks never to return...or so it seems! I'm always being called away by something or other and it is only me here so it is usually me remembering a chore I just really need to get to. Your Aqua brushes sound like lots of fun...enjoy!

Everything always looks so much tidier when zoomed in, it's all ready and waiting for you when you return Julia. Nice to find a bargain whilst looking for other things online although i'm now on a personal promise to not buy anything more until October unless it's an essential I have run out on (likely story!!).. Happy WoywW Tracey xx
P.S That cut leaves a handy aperture, two for the price of one.. Bonus!

It is frustrating, isn't it. You buy something, a cut and emboss folder, or something else, the Create and Craft programme shows them beautifully, but when it on your desk, the mind goes blank. Hope you get back to it soon.

Oh Julia, I'm now going to have to go and look at Aqua brushes - having knocked a pot of ink over in the past, I would guess they are a safer bet for me! I love that beautiful vibrant blue colour. Hope you get back to your desk soon,

Hi Julia, I got seduced by those waterbrushes a while ago too- not exactly sure whether I've tried using them yet, knowing me, probably not, lol. I think I thought they might work well with H2O's- which equally rarely come out. Interesting piece from the folder, and love the colours.Love and hugs, Shaz #6 XxXx

Hi Julia. Those colours are so bright and gorgeous. Oh dear Amazon! They seem to know what things I like and when I go on there looking for something for the house they bring up all the crafty stuff too, it's very tempting. Sometimes going away from the desk can be a good thing you might come back to it with fresh thoughts as how to move on. Happy creative week and wishing you a happy woyww, Angela x15x

That sounds familiar - looking for presents and ending up with something for yourself LOL - that's because I know what I want but I never know what other people want! Hope you can get back to your experiments soon - the saying is true for crafting too - absence makes the heart grow fonder! Happy August! zsuzsa #19

Beautiful ink colours Julia. I would be tempted to use the waste as well. I hope you get some ideas for your cut and emboss piece and I'm glad you are feeling a bit better. I had a look at your previous post about the scrapbooking and your layouts are great. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #9

Hi Julia, good to see that your 'amazing skill set' is in demand even if it keeps you from your desk. Developing cataracts prevent me from seeing dust, on any desk, yours or mine. It's the silver lining! I'm sure you will have a light bulb moment and figure out what to do with that cut and emboss piece - nice colours. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #23

Hi Julia, I can't see any dust :). I have somewhere a cut and emboss folder - but can't recall that I have used it yet. I seem to have a penchant for finding things to buy and then not using them. I'm already prepping myself for a 2020 New Year's Resolution (and I NEVER make resolutions!) which is not to buy any new crafty stuff unless needed for a specific project. Now I know this goes against the grain for a lot of crafters, but I will stand firm. Your cut and emboss looks very nice - looking forward to seeing the finished result. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #25

Hi Julia have a number of cut emboss folders used various ways. Will hunt up links but to be honest best suggestion is write name of said folder in google search bar, add Pinterest at the end of folders name and hey pres, I find inspiration always invariably shows up! 😉
Hopefully desk time come soon for you, know the chasing the tail feeling, it’s actually 11:47pm as I type this hence no other comments done. Manyana.. which incidentally is less than fifteen mins away and only started prayer time. Bye!
Happy WOYWW. Thanks for being a blessing.

Hello! I am laughing because while reading your post, I thought about how I recently saw some cool craft goodies on some Youtube channel then binge purchased them and when they arrived, I forgot what I wanted to do with them!! So I totally understand getting bored. Have a lovely day my friend!

I do feel for you being already to craft and then being called away. I think it has been weeks since I have been at my desk. Competing demands are a pain. Have a lovely week.

I think we all tend to be a little selfish when it comes to spending money on art supplies, while shopping for someone else on Amazon. Happy belated WOYWW!

Hi Julia.
Thank you for your warm welcome and words of encouragement re. post-op recovery!
I'm a bit of a crafty magpie - I like to try my hand at all sorts of different things - knitting is a constant, but I also like to dabble in sewing, doll-rescuing, pebble/glass painting, card-making, painting, all things handmade...especially if it's for a gift or a request from a friend. I normally work full-time, sometimes evenings or weekends, so I have to pack the creative stuff in around the edges.
The picture of the football team is for reference - my husband has asked me to handpaint some Subbuteo blanks in the 1991 Hibernian home strip! I have no interest in football whatsoever, but I do like a challenge!

I don't know how a cut and emboss folder works, but what's on your desk looks intriguing! Thank you for visiting, and I'm really sorry to be so late replying but time seems to have completely run away from me this past week - it must be all those veggies, I think!! Anyway, I hope you get/got a satisfactory result from your scan. I think they should let you know whether the news is good or bad, and not just leave you wondering!

I hope you had a good week.
