What's On Yor Workdesk ? Wednesday 443

A daylight shot! I took this on Tuesday because I wanted you all to see the change that has occurred. Post Marathon tidying up and trying to find a home for all the cardstock that dear Mary left me has caused me to do a lot of rearranging. On Sunday, you couldn't see the floor for boxes, emptied cupboards and piles of stuff. I was close to despair! Mr Dunnit said to just do it to the exclusion of anything else so that it could be finished and over with. So I did. He repurposed a set of shelves for me.

Although the new shelves haven't altered the amount of sorting that was done in cupboards, they have already lifted stuff off my desk and generally created a feeling of more space, which is lovely. Not having the scrap box at immediate left is OK for now..I have to work with this arrangement for a while before I know if it's to be permanent! My actual desk shows remnants of a quick 'try this' session with a friend yesterday; an opportunity for her to practice embossing and getting to know the difference between stamping a wood mounted and a clear stamp. Basic, good stuff. When you show a beginner, it reminds you how many tips you know!  Share and tell then please, have been fascinated by the progress towards Christmas on your desks. More! More!

good luck with your sorting... the desk looks very tidy (is that a keyboard on the ipad stand?) and the shelves will be very useful (full too I guess!)

Happy WOYWW. If I am in the right frame of mind, I enjoy helping beginners - otherwise it can annoy me (no patience now!). I keep clearing up my craft room and decluttering, but some how it all seems to creep in there again. Ali x #7

Hi Julia, it must be the season for beginners as I spent Monday afternoon introducing a friend's daughter to stamping and embossing and you're right the more we did the more kind of techniques and tips I realised I had learned, great fun too. Have a lovely and creative woyww, Angela x12x

Definitely looks much tidier and the additional shelf is a god sent! I too, when I think of being a beginner, marvel at the amount of know-how I accumulated over the past couple of years. Things that seem so self-evident now used to be an enigma when I first started. Have a lovely week, Julia!

A big YES for uncluttered desk space. And oh how I envy those windows. Natural light is a bit of heaven. That is one big stamp on your desk. After your are all settled in you'll once again rearrange, just a warning. I had huge shelves for years When I moved here I was not into a hobby that keep growing, they now make a wall and I put his John Deere tractor collection on them. I'd love to have them back. But I don't want JD in our living room. Enjoy a lovely week it sounds like maybe 2 more weeks of this good weather here and then wham.

Embossing still makes me go "wow!" all these years on. It's like a little piece of magic. Always fun to share it with other people.
Enjoy the feeling of space, while it lasts!

Like craft supplies, a crafter can never have too many shelves. It's the eternal problem isn't it- having stuff close to hand so you remember to use it, versus enough desk space to be able to do so! Looking good, Mrs D, Love and hugs to you both, XxXx Shaz #18

Ah yes - to be organised, 'tis the nirvana eh? Don't know about you but such chores also somehow help me pack away my grief, it comes at a point when I can go whole days without a crescendo of sense of loss, of course the remaining 'things' provoke an emotional response, but one can feel progress towards that world without them in it... I never 'knew' Mary, but I can say it is with a smile that every time I woyww'er I remember Janet Fairy Thoughts and the bead tassel I made with her...it still hangs proudly a captured moment in time.... dxxxx #26

Love the clear desk! My hubby rarely steps foot in my craft room. I think he thinks he might catch something LOL But that makes it the perfect place to hide tasty treats! Good for your hubby to help you with your shelving needs. Have a great week. Dorlene #28

The shelves really do open things up for you. Sometimes I think organizing is half the fun of paper crafting. I haven't done either lately. I think about it a lot. That should count for something, right? No?

Hi Julia. Happy WOYWW. You can never have too many shelves, I am led to believe! Mr M is already planning a refit to my craft room, and I've only had it a year or so! I do love visiting all the desks/rooms and seeing how everyone organises their crafty goodies! The wonders of embossing still escape me for now. Thank goodness for you tube! Have a lovely week, Heather #30

No post from me today. I usually write on Tuesday but yesterday was a bad computer day. This means i spent more time finding out just what was wrong and making decisions on software and stuff I need but do not want. Thanks for your post I think we share a common ancestor. Just returned from a 'Memorial" I thought it migh have been interesting but it dragged on and on. So nothing really to show. have a fantastic week.

Hi Julia, your husband is one of the two in a million (the other one is mine). Love the new shelves - there's plenty of space waiting to be filled. The scrap box will probably make its way back again sooner or later. I love my wood mounted stamps even though they take up more space but I think they have been overtaken by clear stamps. Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #31

It is always fun to show a newbie the ropes - sometimes I forget all the exciting things I learned at the beginning of this journey, lovely to go back and relive things (such as embossing!) through a newbie's eyes! I remember when i first started we did embossing over a light bulb! LOL! I've come a long way! Hope your new arrangements work out! Thanks for sharing! Lindart #27

Oh my gosh, my floor is a disaster when I'm sorting but then, right now it's covered with stuff I need to put away! What a hoot! Love your shelves, so nice to get organized to find things better. And your desk looks so tidy and easier to work on! Have a great week!

Wow! look at all that daylight and spaciousness. In my experience, when you show a beginner it makes you realise how much stuff you have as well! :o) Annie C #23

Your desk does look neater today, so the new shelf, and sorting worked! I love to see the daylight view, since my area is in the basement and on the side with no windows so no natural light. I got new organizer shelf too that I show today, and a tip. But no Christmas progress. But most of my cards are done and half are mailed. Yay! Happy WOYWW, Julia! # 35

Shelves are always useful but can cause a lot of hassle whilst you are getting them and then with the addition of all the re-arranging.
I'm sure you'll soon work out what works best for you.

Not sure when you will get "more" from me - well not until the "C" cards I have made up to now have been sent. Today has been another busy day and now I have back ache. Time to relax with a cuppa and some tv me thinks.
I know what you mean about moving things around, even a little, and then trying them out to make sure it 'is you'. I write it down on a Rolladex (is that it's name?) or I would forget where I put stuff. Have fun.
Hugs, Neet
and thank you so much for correcting my number - how on earth I linked wrongly I will never know. xx
