What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 285

Well you may not believe this, but it's relatively calm in the photo. I took this at lunchtime on Tuesday.  There is a hint of sunshine.  It seems nice outside.  You can't tell from here just how utterly waterlogged the garden is....honestly, you need thigh high waders to cross the grass. The desk on the other hand, requires a less intrepid attitude!
The ipad stand is currently housing blank cards...I was rather frantically trying to make a particular idea fit onto something (anything) and so had one of each of the card shapes and sizes that I have 'in stock' on show; saves me wheeling to and fro the cupboard every two minutes, see.
The pads at left (there are 3) are all polka dots...different colours.  Lovely.  Had 'em about a month and so far not managed to use a single sheet.  The cheerful red and green star papers are actually paper placemats from Phoenix Trading.  But when I've finished, they'll be 'packets' for the 'All Day Christmas' workshopeers to put their finished cards in.
A Poinsettia sits atop the clear drawers...i inked it, embossed it, coloured it, cut it out, stuck it on an already stamped and coloured one...and then didn't like it.  Maybe time will improve it.  Maybe it will end up in the bin.  Who knows.
By the time I get home from work today, the desk will again be a horrible mess - don't worry, you won't miss a single thing, I like to share the ugly as well as the fine! Meanwhile share yours too please - put WOYWW in your post title and link here so that we may visit. Oh, thanks.  You're a gem.

This is what happens when I go to bed early! lol. Awake at 5.45. But I've never been first before, yay! Now to make a drinking choc and go back to bed.I do like your Poinsettia, Julia, and the polka dots. I have so many bits that end up waiting to see if I like them more later, you are not alone. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz xxx

Looking fun as ever. Lovers to make nice packets toe your work shoppers rather than just a bag. I have to say I do love dotty paper. So long as I have a dot, a strip, and a bold floral or swirl, I'm happy

And speaking of, happy WOYWW

I turned my back for a second after frantically refreshing for 10 minutes..and there you are! Great desk, love all those polka dots and stars, which are fab. A month is not long to hoard paper before using it, well done!!
From the angle I can't see much of the poinsettia but I am sure it is gorgeous... do hold on to it!

Lovely to see green in the garden still but I feel your pain with the boggyness.

Well, stayed up late enough to make the top 10 this week...LOL
Christmas makes all over blogland this week. I think we all have a stash of "maybe it will get better" things, THAT do eventually end up in the round file!
Have a great week, I've enjoyed your holiday pictures but haven't left a comment....was using my cell and I'm not that tech savvy!

I think the desk looks very tidy and the garden still looks green through the window... I am so jealous of that window... I chose to have my window up high in the scraproom and now regret it... nothing to look at but wall!!

Morning, Julia - the weather yesterday was amazing, eh? I had the garden doors open for a couple of hours - great to let some fresh air blow through - even Mum was warm enough for that. I have a love hate thing with poinsettias - they either look fab or very old hat, for me. Dotty paper is so versatile, suitable for lots of occasions and you can mix and match it. Have a great WOYWW, off round the desks now. Hugs, Chris # 8

Great looking desk! ! love all the awesome papers…of course I do! I am such a paper hoarder. Feeling rather embarrassed with all the stuff I have in my room of stash. I really miss not teaching classes anymore. I may have to rethink my retirement.
Have a great week. Vickie #17

Yikes I still haven't made a slight effort to start with the Xmas themed cards.Even if you don't like the Poinsettia card at least you started.

I love polka dots. Poinsettias? Not so much!

At least you have green grass, albeit soggy, ours is brown and dead (no real rain for ages). Although a storm just went over and we got a wonderful deluge, so this time next week it might be greenish. Those star placemats are gorgeous, very Christmasy.
Have fun making the packets from them.

Morning Julia.
Lovely bits on your desk there, the dotty paper dead centre are lovely, and I like the poinsettia, it will grow on you, hopefully.

It's lovely still seeing green in the gardens but all this rain means the grass needs cutting again - but it's too wet & soggy to do.
Very tidy desk for you Julia - can't wait to see the 'packets' when done.

Hi Julia, always love dotty paper and the poinsettia card, well I would like a better look cos it looks good to me. When I make cards I'm not sure about I keep them anyway there's always someone who will like it even if you don't.
Happy crafty week, Angela x 28

Ooh, I love the poinsettia, although I'd like a closer look, and I agree with Angela that there will always be someone who loves it even if you aren't so keen! I've recently dug out my Tim Holtz die and I've gone Poinsettia mad - although I'm not so keen on the real plants. Hope you have a great week,

Hi Julia, your workshoppers are very lucky peeps I think! What a great idea to use the placemats that way. I LOVE dotty paper, all kinds of dotty paper, although I've banned myself from buying any more paper at the moment and I'm working on using up some of Paper Mountain before I lift the embargo! Happy WOYWW :o) Annie C #31

Hi Julia. Lots going on there. How many times have I started a card and ended up not liking it! Love the idea of paper packets for finished worked. Waterlogged here as well! Happy WOYWW. Anne x # 35

Cutting, sticking, embossing and making up then deciding you don't like it - yup been there and done that. I keep mine for a while with the hope of making something but inevitably they do end up in the bin. Have a lovely day. Anita #35

Hi Julia, you make me chuckle commenting about the rain and the soggy garden...we're just having our very first thunder storm in this house, so I am busy checking windows to see where it might be blowing in - bought with it a lovely cool change so it'll be nice for sleeping tonight. Great idea to re-use the starry placemats into cardholders for your class...and also space for dotty paper at my place too. Cheers RobynO#36

I always love to come visit! My Wednesday's would not be the same without you and this hop! I have become quite addicted to this little adventure! Oooh.... you just reminded me of the fact that I need to make 'present bags' for the Open Atelier weekend... shoot! Almost forgot that! Thanks for the reminder, I put it on my to do list now with a big, fat, red underline.... it's wet and misty in the Netherlands as well... thick socks and still cold feet. Hope the sun comes through soon, at your place as well as mine. Happy woyww dear! Marit #44

This site always makes me feel so much better about my desk and seeing the work of others is so inspiring. Ooops and I don't know if it's because I'm getting over a cold or something in the water, but I've been claiming to be number 36 and actually I'm number 37... Lets go get another culpa and see if that helps :)

That is a pretty desk Julia, I like the idea of placemats into folders and they are very pretty.

We used to have a garden like that before this house, any rain and the lawn was under an inch of water! Clay soil, I guess we should have known because the area was called Hilperton Marsh!
I am not at all well, so not sure I will be hopping round much, and I was up so late I should have been here first - but the post wasn't up!

Anyway now I remembered to come and log on and link up before I go back to sleep, I made it out of the 60s and into the 50s.

It's great to have things you haven't used in awhile, or things you're not happy with, to sit around on your desk - ideas will pop into your head when you are least expecting it! At some point you will say "Of course! That's what I'll use these for!" or "yes ! All this poisettia needs is. . .!"
Here's to inspiration!!

Glad you liked the other goodies too. Your desk looks nice with the star paper laid out and waiting.

So glad I was finally to join back in! I've missed everyone.
