What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 213. Really. 213

Barb..if you're reading this..so glad you may have felt the spark of inspiration from us WOYWWers!
HERE and HERE are explanation and help....come join in, it's not so bad. (These links take you to pages that are otherwise accessed through the widget in the right hand margin called erm, PAGES. I like it simple, I can keep up.)
And HERE is my desk....

Taken from the North wing end and looking remarkably similar to how I left it last Thursday.  Shopkeeper Gal has had the amazing good sense to stock the Reynolds (not a common product in the UK) and she mostly sells it as a great release paper for stubborn thin dies.  I've met in other guises and so plan to have a bit of an inky play.  Plan.  That's all I can commit to just now.  Let's face it, the last few days have been all about the cutting station work surface and the pigging Big Shot.  That's over now, so I guess free time can go back to being desk time.  As soon as I tidy.  A bit.
So that's boring of Ludgershall for you today.  Show me yours..it's got to be more interesting!

Not boring, clean and tidy, there's a world of difference! I hear the memory Box very thin metal adapter plate works wonders on the intricate dies, I'm considering one myself.

Very neat... obviously the loss of the Big Shot had you totally unnerved and you had a tidy up! LOL I bought lots of wax paper when I was in Clagary... because it was so available and cheap... haven't used much of it as yet but if you say it works on dies... will have to give it go on some of mine and see if it improves their performance!!

I wish my desk looked as "boring" as you think yours does. I think it looks impressive and full of the promise of major masterpieces. Have fun with it and with your "day job". xx Maggie #3

It's a shame about your big shot and it's even worse the company hasn't made it so parts are replaceable what a waste!!!
So strange that something I see everyday in the stores and don't think twice about it crafters across the pond buy up like hotcakes :) happy Wed hugs Nikki #5

Hi Julia,

Love what's on your workdesk, what do you do with the wax paper?
I saw your bigshot post, sounds like the same thing that happened to mine. You can buy the part from the US if it's a gear... But I ended up just buying another new one...
Have a great week crafting

I think Reynolds Wrap is on my grocery list every month, for their foil and wax paper. So funny how we all use those products as much in the craft room as the kitchen! Love the north wing view this week. Hugs! Sandy Leigh #6

I'm so upset I got here a bit late! I wanted to try for #1!! My computer freaked out :(
BUT, I'm still in the top 10!! LOL!!
I use waxed paper for a bunch of things and always have a roll in my studio!! I use the cheap kind,, not the fancy Reynolds!! LOL!! It does have a ton of uses. I love using it on top of sticky things while they dry.
Sorry about your big shot! That sucks!!
Have a great WOYWW!

Great tip about the wax paper, I get frustrated fussing around with those intricate dies, so I will give this a whirl!

I have Reynolds wax paper on my desk (all the time). It's never used in the kitchen. Really neat desk. Happy crafting #12

Awake at 3.30am wondering what to do with myself - how about linking up, yippee you were here. Looks like you are planning mega card making there and your desk looks relatively tidy to me. BJ#13

Your big shot is so typical of things made today, they aren't made to be mended, just tossed away. Wish I knew what a big shot was, sounds like a good toy to play with when working. Don't waste time tidying up the desk, just do what I do, make a single pile out of everything on the desk and work in the hole that's left :)
Have a great week.

Really wax paper in the craft shop and not the grocery store!! Go figure....I learn something new each and every Wednesday! That stuff is a blessing for dies with tight thin little arms and branches etc. I also use the thin metal adapter plate with the wax paper. Have fun with it. Hugs Nan 25

Good morning from Brittany in Franceeveryone! Juila your desk is so busy ans so many crafting things! I had a Spellbinders Wizard as my first die-cutter...didn't work from the start and SB weren't interested. Went in the bin at a cost of $129. Then a friend gave me a Cuttlebug! Why don't France and the UK sell wax paper anymore? It's such a useful kitchen item in addition to crafting. You will have to ask your friend to post Europe wide....send a link! My Aunt in Houston sent me some once!!! Happy WOYWW! #34

I was interested about your big shot have one, but mainly use my bug as bought it first so mine wont wear out till my bug dies - thought it was dying and bought big shot cheaply...

Hi Julia,

So sorry I have just caught up with last weeks post and this weeks, long story. My condolences about the big shot and the tote, if you were here I would give you my big shot as I don't use it anymore but postage to england for it would be to expensive otherwise you could have it. As for the tote, have a good look around before getting another one, there are durable ones out there. Do you think it could of been an overloading issue with the tote? LOL

I am curious about this cut right wax paper, I know nothing about it, maybe you could explain more in a post.

Happy WOYWW to you thanks for hosting the best blog hop ever.

Hugs Eliza & Yoda 81 which will change LOL

Morning Julia, the North Wing! Snort, as Di would say :) I think I might have an idea of the application you have in mind for the wax paper - look forward to seeing the result. Not that you can tell, but the inked and stamped backing on the card in today's post was wax paper embossed - not my most successful piece, hence the demotion to a backing role. Your button jar is almost overflowing now - what next, another jar? Have a good day. Elizabeth x #60

PS: Feeling better but still happy to take your advice and have a nap this afternoon :)

Good morning, Julia! My most recent favorite thing to do with waxed paper was inspired by Sandee in NC -- she once mentioned that she used it to line her misting box and then used it when it got to a proper state of inkiness. I did the same, adhered it to cardstock, and die cut it into shapes to use on cards and layouts. Have fun playing and happy WOYWW! ~ Laura the Bookworm

Hi Julia - the bane of diecutters everywhere - cutouts that just wont come out of the die - and ending up with pinholes all over the place... even the easyrelease foam doesn't work on some of the intricate dies as there is nowhere for it to adhere to... someone should do a video about it... LOL
