I’m lucky, I have no trouble sleeping and like to sit about. It’s not a perfect recipe for everyone, I understand. It means that my activities have largely been in sort of holiday mode….
I don’t want to sit about being completely unproductive, so I spent a couple of happy hours in the shade adding some more stitches to the embroidery that usually only comes out when I’m on holiday. I have to say that half an hour prior to the mixing of the Pimms, Mr Dunnit had been hard at work around the corner, laying patio slabs. You can see that it’s not really finished, but it’s a flat surface in the shade…perfect for an impromptu desk! I’ve realised that this embroidery has still a long way to go…I don’t intend to up my game but it is going to take an awful lot more holidays to get it finished!
I hope you’ve managed to stay safe and comfortable in whatever hemisphere…both are experiencing extremes of weather and it does cause me to think about you. Miss Dunnit and her Current Squeeze where home this weekend and each time we discussed a place that has clearly been affected by Global Warming, one or other of them would say “suppose you’ve got a Desker friend there, haven’t you?” They think they’re being funny and cheeky, but mostly, they’re right and I love that!
This is a scheduled post, got to be in Southampton before 9am today, I’ll catch you as soon as I can settle with some WiFi, my role in the day is mostly about waiting.

Morning! Actually, it's Good Night as I haven't got to bed yet. WE've been sitting about being really lazy this week and not really doing anything. We did do 'around the village' in the car with the aircon on, but that's it. The embroidery looks amazing! Have a great week!

Morning. hope your journey to Southampton is ok at this quiet time of day and the waiting around is somewhere cool! loving the look of the Pimms in the shade with the embroidery! Yes, been a bit hot here, but luckily the Covid is mild and I don't feel ill with that (if it weren't for the positive test still I'd be at work) Take care and stay cool Helen#2
Oh my but it was hot! What lovely embroidery. Not something I even really did. Wait. Maybe embroidered over some rips in blue jeans in the 60s … We were very proactive and closed all the curtains at about 10 am then covered all the windows without curtains in black paper. Luckily, the stone house stays cool so downstairs never got above 25 degrees. Phew. UPSTAIRS was hotter for sure, but we had fans. But, yeah I mostly abandoned my craft space except early morning when it was tolerable. A walk around a chilly frozen food aisle would have been just the ticket. Clever girl! Enjoy your trip and stay cool..
Happy Woyww

Hope all goes well with the trip to Southampton Julia. I have been rather hot and bothered over the last couple of days as the shed is full in the midday sun and has been unuseable without taking a midday siesta. Your embroidery is gorgeous. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3
Hope all goes well today and it’s a successful trip, at least it’s a bit cooler! You’ll have to have a party when it’s finished!

I scheduled my post too although not this comment nor the linking up! Would you know we are also off to Southampton today as well as it's our Son's Graduation, 2 years late. As for the heat it was unbearable here the past 2 days, totally blistering yesterday even in the shade, far too hot for me. I've not slept much for week or more so lucky to get 4-5 hours last night. Bedroom still 26 degrees. Super embroidery, I'm just amazed anyone can be outside in this. BJ#8
Hi Julia, safe journey. I think the best part of this week was either in the car or supermarket. I love the embroidery and it's making me think that just maybe it's time I got out a piece I started at college in 1973 that never did get finished properly but we'll see. I managed about 6 hours sleep last night and then the dustbin men arrived about half an hour ago with their squeaky van so thought I'd get up and visit you. It's breezy at the moment but I know it's going to be hot again, wish it was snowing Lol! Take care and stay cool, Angela x10x
Wow that embroidery is stunning...well done you for persevering. Hope you have a safe journey today and what ever you’re waiting for turns up quickly.
Hugs,

Hope all goes well In Southampton today- at least you’re travelling on a cooler day. Yesterday was just a grim, bear it day. When the storm arrived at bedtime, I was hanging out of the window and wanted to sleep there, but B said it would look like the Rieperbahn.😏.
Your embroidery is beautiful. Take lots of holidays so we can see more!
Take care and happy WOYWW

Good morning Julia 😊 wishing you safe travels to Southampton and hope you find somewhere cool to do the waiting 🤗 I'm loving your embroidery, such a labour of love 🪡 with a pimps to keep you company 🍸 We've been lucky up here in Scotland but the last few days has been hot...I don't know how you all cope down South. We've been waiting till late evening to go for our walk hoping for some cool air 😉 We have a gentle breeze this morning with clouds up above. I'm going out back to give everything a good soak 🌿🌼🌸🌱 before I get on with my day. Sending love and hugs Tracy #13 xxxx

Morning, Julia, I have heard from the TV news you have had fire and more warmth in London than ever. That was sad to hear. Still warm here but not near the temperature like yours yet. And your husband are yet enable to work in the garden, what a brave man. I do hope for you and your friends over there (DK here) are going to be ok.
Hugs

WELL I am freezing! But that jug and a bit of embroidery in the garden looks very pleasant! Stay cool...
It's on extreme to another with our lives these past few years. Nothing seems normal. Do your cars have air? I was surprised at no air conditioning in so many places, it's been a thing here for more than 1/2 my life. Just praying for control of the fires and that they don't spread. LOVE the bright colors for your embroidery work. I think about projects while watching the TV but it never happens, just done in after 6 pm time to relax and wonder about tomorrow and my far away families. ENJOY that liquid and sending best wishes for normalcy for all of you.
Hi Julia, hope the trip to Southampton goes well, I went To La Sainte Union College there. I used to come home on the train on a Friday and Dennis would drive me back on the Sunday- sometimes I would drive as I was learning to drive at that time. Love the colours of your embroidery. Today is much cooler , but the future is looking scary! happy WOYWW. Angela #9
Good morning, Miss Julia.
Yes, we're to hit 103* F today with a heat index of somewhere up of 110*F. Ugh! Thankfully, I've finished the last of my errands for the month and I think I can stay home and be productive in my air conditioning. We did get about 2" of rain on Sunday in about 20 minutes but I fear the garden will still need watering. Nothing is getting ripe because of the heat.
Be safe, my friend! Cooling Creative Blessings! ~ Kelly
I grumbled and groused about the heatwave but felt bad when I saw the fires that had hit the housing in and around London. Just hoping our moorland stays fire-less as it's peat and it burns underground.
The embroidery and the Pimms look fabulous but poor Bart laying those flags.
Unlike you I have not been sleeping well, heat and a tummy ache (new medication - now stopped), you sound like myk other half, he can sleep anywhere, anytime.
Nice to have DD and her CS home for the weekend - treasured moments.
Hope you managed your early start to the day and had a pleasant journey - there and back!
Hugs, Neet 6 xx
HI Julia! I'm glad that you are not suffering too much, to hear the news over here it sounds terrible. I'm sure it is for many people and I feel for them, and hope everyone is OK. We have been pretty lucky so far. Your embroidery is lovely, certainly a nice way to spend an afternoon in the shade!
