What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 675

Well, you may actually want to look away.
This shot is taken from the door to the garage again. Apart from the mess, it shows the table has been moved away from the door…work on the patio (or bl**dy huge dig) has begun. Caught me out, actually. I was mid clear out of a cupboard, had dumped it all on a slightly messy desk because on a Sunday morning, that’s a nice thing to do, huh, clear up a bit, make some space, set to on the anniversary ATCs secure in the knowledge that when I’ve made some, I’ll get a better idea.
And Mr Dunnit announces the need for access to the garden and it’s all systems go. Oh my heart. Actually, never mind my heart…my arms! The wheelbarrow, when full weighs about three tonnes and I tried so hard to help by wheeling it across the patio, up the plank, through the door, then through the garage door, then take a run up the plank into the back of the van to empty it. I managed one whole, spilt the second and then had to stop. It was very hard! Later today we have a man, a mini digger and a barrow ‘assistant’ coming to look at the situation. Can’t let MeBart work 6 days and spend his seventh doing that kind of toiling, it’s not on. And a younger man’s game, frankly.
Meanwhile, I’m going to very bravely tidy the floor area I can access, get the desk out of the way and at least sort that one cupboard out so that the desk surface can be used. Baby steps. So much better for the dignity than the staggering, huffing and out of control steps of the weekend!
Share and show please, you will as always be a welcome distraction. Don’t forget to check out the ‘how to’ page at the top of this blog for joining in on the anniversary ATC swap day. Even if you don’t have a blog but would like to join in, we can work it out, let me know!

Definitely a job which needs help and machinery by the sound of things Julia but well done for having a go with the wheelbarrow. Look forward to photos when the new patio is finished. Good luck with the cupboard tidying too. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #2

Hi Julia, I gasped as I read about you barrowing tons of muck! My backs hurting just thinking about it. You're fitter than me, that's for sure! Coincidentally, we've just asked our granddaughter's fiance, a fit young man, to pave over an area by our back door, where his mobility scooter is stored, to make it less of a trip hazard than the gravel that's currently there. Enjoy clearing the floor and tidying the cupboard. Your reward will be a clear desk. Have a lovely WOYWW and a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #4

PS: I have Silver's early morning call (4am this morning) for me being at #4 today.

Omg I’m traumatised now...memories came flooding back of filling the back of skips up the scaffolding board...but that was 30 plus years ago!! It’s certainly a labour of love and one for a much younger person. Hope you get sorted soon.
Hugs,
Annie x

There’s a time to do things yourself and this is not one of them! Hope the extra manpower will shift the tonnes of earth, what a pain about it having to come through your craft room though… I have to say your desk is looking mighty impressive!!

My goodness me! I probably couldn’t manage an empty wheelbarrow! Thank goodness there is help on the way. I hope your craft room floor is easy to clean, a case of work stopping play. Take care and happy WOYWW, Angela #13

Good luck with the patio. I must admit I folded today and got someone in to mow the lawns. Bad enough picking up a fork to tackle the weeds that have sprung up in the veggie plot. Where is Kevin when I need him!!

Good luck with the patio area, it must have been a bind with things starting to move just as you are in the mindset of clearing a cupboard. Good idea getting a man in, I'm looking to get a gardener now - my nephews at 16 and 19 don't feel the hard work of gardening justifies the (very) generous amount I used to pay them when they'd come up and help!
Have a great week,

Oh my 2 main desks are so similar, I spent 3 days sorting/moving/rearranging and had to have therapy on my shoulders. My ATC's are ready, and the Connecting theme came easy. I've given up on Loaded wheel barrows He planted radishes but the weather....rhubarb is way behind only 6 inches high and scraggly, I think it froze one night. He'll do garden seeds after the corn is planted We have a neighbor who SELLS wonderful fresh veggies etc so to me that's easy.
Enjoy a good week. I had wine at 6 A.M. !!!

It's a long time since i did any physical work to come up to barrowing anything. There's a slight advantage to being old, you become unable to do a lot of heavy physical work. Glad you now have the manpower to do the hard lifting and digging etc. Of course Bart cannot work every day, everyone needs a day or two off each week. Hope you spoil him with a nice cuppa and a cake.
Take baby steps, I did a bit more clearing of a couple of shelves this week but sat on my wheelie typing chair so I could zoom around the room a bit (not a big room so zoom is just back and forth really). Exciting for the old lady though.
Hugs, Neet 6 xx

What with Lawnmowers last week and now wheelbarrows this week! I was moving soil about in 'lockdown' and crunch, the wheel broke...the wheel barrow is still there, filled to the top with soil. By now you've probably sorted out your cupboard so have a great week Happy WOYWW!?((Lyn))#20
