What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 623

Seriously, this past week has overtaken me completely. I’ve been out out, I’ve done 6ft socialising, I’ve been cold. I’ve been caught in the rain and I managed one more afternoon of fence painting. My desk has not been so active.
There is one of the wallpaper samples unrolled. I was going to cover a book and was utterly distracted by something. On top is a sheet of the ATC backs that Mary Ann has designed for next week’s anniversary swap. At some point this week I’m fairly confident that I will have at least stuck these backs to ATC size fronts. They may not be started or indeed finished fronts, but at least they will be closer to being finished than they are at the mo! It’s not that I’ve totally lost my mojo, it’s more that there’s been so much else to do. Emerging from lockdown is causing a little more out and about and it’s the end of April, which in this house means four tax returns and a VAT quarter. My life, it’s all glamour! And then.....a real thing happened. A last minute, not much notice visit from Lunch Lady Jan and her groom. It was so so good to see them. We chatted a lot. It’s been over a year and you could easily have been able to tell if you’d been able to join us. I only hope that your reunions are as much fun and as lovely. What a tonic. And talking of tonics, without panic or pressure, remember that your ATC and postcard are needed for next week? So, would you like to show your desk and the work in progress? Ooh, thanks very much.

Wellmy atcs are ready but it seems Sutton doesn't believe it is worthy of postcards so I can't fulfill that part of the plan. and I don't have a printer to try and do one of my own. Hope I won't be thrown out of the club!! I am thrilled to hear and you LLJ were able to meet!!

I still need to get sorted for next week as well Julia - the day job (as my dad calls it) has thoroughly got in the way of crafting this week. I shall be ready no matter what. Hope we can all get togather later in the year for a delayed crop too. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #1

That must have been like Christmas, or Birthday or some other wonderful day - the day that you had the visit from LLJ and G. How lovely for you. Now did we do an elbow bump or an unauthorised hug? Don't tell, it wouldn't be right.
I had a friend visit yesterday - and bless her, she did a test before she came - and her husband did one too as he has a cold and wanted to make sure it was nothing else with her coming to see me.
Next week will be here before I know it - must get on this morning - uip early enough to get going.
Hugs, Neet 6 xx

Argh! Such dodgy internet today, lucky I managed to link up at all! I hate when that happens. Still I’m here, my desk is a mess and I can see you have returned to form as well, So lovely you met up with Jan (and now my iPad is telling me I have no connection! So I’ll just keep typing till it returns!) and I can’t help but think a Woyww crop can’t be far behind! Right? RIGHT? My Atcs are made and in true WOYWW fashion, made from desk debris. A mixed bag but happy to swap, oh, and in my tidy? Found my badge!
Hugs and happy Woyww

Thanks Thea for leaping on me at 5:30 - at least I got to join the blog hop early! How lucky you are to have seen LLJ & G!
Hopefully, we’ll all be able to have such reunions with our friends and family soon.
I can sympathise with Helen. Even in a seaside town like Folkestone, postcards were tricky to find. No tourism so little call, I expect. Still, I’m set up for next week.
Take care and happy WOYWW

Hi Julia, Back in the swing of things here while the thunder and rain pelt down upon us. Hoping to join in the ATC for the 12th anniversary - will remember to asterisk then. Glad LLJ visited - I would love crafty visitors - doesnt happen out this way though - Beachmere QLD OZ - gotta go and snuggle with the furkids who are getting a bit frantic with the storm... Stay safe & well - Cheers

I’m clapping my hands with glee that you had a lovely visit from LLJ, I bet it was a hoot. I’m warning folk to get ready for a hug next week as I’ll be handing them it freely after Monday.
Thankfully for us we are getting to the end of 40+ years of trading now and I’ve only got a couple more VAT returns to do then that’s it… hooray
Hope you get through your paperwork smoothly.

So glad she made the trip worthwhile - I bet you both had jaw ache by the end!
I'm trying to imagine an actual wall with that wall paper on but I can't - definitely a 'feature' wall... Great for crafting with though for sure. Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane

Hi Julia so pleased you saw Jan, life does indeed seem to be busier with lots more socialising.

I can imagine that was a lovely day, it's nice to be able to meet up with friends and family again. I love the pattern on the wallpaper. I seem to have had a bit of a thing recently for triangles. I'm sure I have some fabric somewhere that looks very similar to that. Have a lovely creative woyww, Angela x17x

ATCs are in production despite the chaos here, but I have not yet sourced a postcard... I know there will be one somewhere locally so I will get on it! I keep forgetting that bit. Love the bright colours on your wall paper and am so pleased that you got to have a good natter with Jan. There is nothing better than seeing a good friend in person for a proper catch up. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#19)

Hi Julia, sorry I've been gone so long - 10 weeks, oh my! I don't envy you 4 tax returns!! Ah, someone else with wallpaper on their desk, I am in good company there! Love the photo of you and Jan on LLJs blog - that must have been a special day. I will see if I get chance to make some ATCs and source a postcard this weekend, but if I don't, then I'll have to give it a miss this year, but will definitely try and attend a Crop if there is one! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #23

I've done the postcards, but haven't thought about the actual ATCs. Late joining this morning because despite prepping my post last night, this morning disappeared in a maelstrom of gasmen neededing access to fit a hive controller (no idea) and me trying to get off for my 2nd jab. Came home and fannied about for an hour before I remembered it was Wednesday. I'd had that niggling feeling that there was something I should be doing all morning..... How lovely to see Jan! Have a great week, love n hugs Cindy xx

Julia, I was just saying the same thing to Jan about the last-minute things.....sometimes I think I do better under pressure! LOLOL Thank you for your sweet, sweet words and let's hope it all comes out decent enough for a gift and not the fire pit! LOL Yes, you DID make me laugh and I am so tickled that you took the time to think of our antics and send some love! LOL Can't wait to try and share!! I love that colorful wallpaper that you've got out. It will make a great book cover!! I love that sheet that Mary Ann posted. I must have missed the whole post about the parameters and/or theme for the swap, etc.... I live under a rock sometimes! LOL I would love to swap, but obviously at this point it would be after the fact, which is sad, but that's how my life has been lately. Did you have addresses for folks or were we supposed to hit each other up on our own? There are just some folks that are in your life that need a "little extra" attention because of poor planning and apparently that is ME for you! LOLOL Sorry friend! LOL Just let me know. You can email me your thoughts...hee hee! SO glad you and LLJ got to visit, what a treat! My bestie and I got to finally have a dinner visit last week and it was glorious!! Take care and THANK YOU again for the fun! Blessings, Felicia #25

Hi Julia! Your desk does look nice and busy, although you did say you haven't spent much time there. And how nice to have actually met up with Jan! I won't be sending out ATCs, but I will try to have one ready for the big day, that maybe people can copy and paste on an ATC card as one from me. The expense of mailing would just be too much for me. But I am looking forward to seeing everyone else's, and I should do the same with theirs, print them and glue them then I will have a set of my own! Take care, and have a good week! Lindart #29

After I posted we had to leave again and now it's almost 10 pm so I can now visit and leave comments. I can't cram anymore into my days, I'm just too old. So glad you had such an exciting day. I totally understand. My sister came and spent 3 hrs, helping me decide colors, ideas on this mess I have. So prolonged. I've been sneaking in ATC time so I can finish up and get mailed. I also finished my homemade post cards, they are rare here also. Weather is up and down, no idea what to wear or where to find it. Layers seem to work the best. Have a great week and Enjoy more time away.

Lovely wallpaper, Julia - I think it will be much better for craft projects than for covering walls, though! I don't think I could live with that on the walls. Gorgeous bright colours and geometric design, perfect for a book cover, though.

It sounds as if you've been very busy with all sorts of other things this week. Not least meeting up with Jan! What fun you must have had. Sorry that visiting your mum is a bit of an ordeal! I know the feeling.

Thank you for your visit. So glad you like the almost finished kitty throw. I'm loving doing the border which I think complements the design really well. I was pretty horrified when Ruby attacked it, too! I hope once they get used to it, they won't bother. I'm not only planning the next throw - I've already started it! I've done the first few rounds of the first octagon of the Persian Tiles throw today - I can work on this while my hubby's around, and concentrate on the kitty one at other times. The Purple Circles jumper is being blocked now, ready to be made up.

Thank you for your good wishes about my breast lump. I had a phone call from the breast unit this morning postponing my appointment till the 24th (only a few days later which I'm sure won't make much difference) - they've had a flood at the unit and they've had to reschedule appointments while they clear up the mess, the poor things!

Happy belated WOYWW,

Once more I thought I'd 'been' but I'm here now, sorry I'm so late, any swapping spare I'd love to, I have a few made now and a lot more not quite made yet... still no postcards though...Might find some tomorrow when we return to the vet with the cat. Mr Jinx will not be happy! I did save mary Ann's ATC backs from the other week, but now can't find where so have spent the weekend sorting my old ones out..printed them out and then realised I'd spelt anniversary wrong, three different times, put the wrong number twice and put a d instead of an o in my email! so the first print out only had four I could use. The weather's been rubbish here this week, been in the garden only coz it rained so hard the water was coming back up the drainpipe, we had to poke it with a very long pole! Moss from the roof was clogging it up! Sorry I'm soooo late! Happy WOYWW ((Lyn)) #12
