What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 603

Shambles! Alert alert! I’m just finishing a layout from a crop I took part in at the weekend. Then the desk, the trolley, the stool and the huge waste bin have to be tidied and put away till after the big day. It might actually take me a whole day to get this done.
The large file at right contains alphabet stickers. I haven’t bought any new sets for six months, so largely, this file is filled with part-used alpha stickers and they aren’t overly useful. Because I have hope in my heart and I’m too cheap to throw anything away, I flick through them and use whatever I can each time I make a page up. There were 6 crop challenges and the first required tissue paper. The LO you can see is for the sixth challenge. The tissue paper from challenge one is in the bag at left, under the roll of foam tape and word stickers. Would have been easy to put away, huh. No idea why I didn’t. That space would have been useful, huh. So that’s it, gentle Deskers, till Christmas is behind us. Here in the UK, things have changed for us all and no doubt everybody’s plans are affected by new rules designed to try to contain the rapid spreading strain of C19. Be careful, be safe. Enjoy a day off for Christmas, whatever your plans are. Meanwhile, please show us your pre Christmas desks. And for once, instead of a cuppa, I will allow egg nog or mulled wine. Except for me of course, I don’t like either. Although I have tried, honestly. No mines still a G&T, but I might drop a couple of halved cranberries in to make it more festive!

Your desk looks very busy Julia, that pile of stickers on the right looks a little precarious to say the least! Well done for finding time to do a crop making layouts at the weekend! Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas (note, merry; hic, rather than happy!) take care and stay safe and thank you for caring for us all this year. I'll join you in gin rather than egg nog or mulled wine but not just yet, it's a little early! Helen xx

Hum cranberries in a G&T sound... interesting. But definitely festive. I have a million (and I might not be exaggerating)letter stickers. Shame crops are a thing of the past or I’d share.

Have a lovely Christmas and, yes, stay safe and well, till next we meet , and beyond!

Happy Christmas to all the dealers.

Morning Julia. A busy desk still. I wish you well with your sorting and tidying later today. I think I will be doing that tomorrow. Your folder of alphabet stickers looks even larger than mine - frustrating, isn't it, when there are half pages left every time. I mean, who has a name with q, x, w, z and j in it - and without any vowels!! I will be raising a mug of earl grey to you come Christmas day - used to like an egg nog and don't know why I don't have one now... but mulled wine, yuk - my sons in law have endeavoured over the years to find a drink I really like - but I reckon they have given up now.
Have a really special Christmas with as many of your family as can make it!
Take care. God bless.

Happy WOYWW. I will have some mulled wine later (I don't usually like red wine, but if it is warmed up and smells of Christmas, then I love it!). I saw that crop on Facebook, but didn't have the time or energy to join in this time. I did one earlier in the year and created digital pages for all of the challenges. That started off a really nice album, which I may continue next year (not making any promises anymore!). Have a fabulous Christmas. The changed plans here meant that our freezer is now full of party food (having some every day for lunch), and our fridge has the items that couldn't be frozen. We definitely have enough food until my next Tesco delivery on Monday! Ali x #5

Good morning Julia, hold on to those cranberries where ever they are coming from they like many other things are precious as they take the journey from here to there.. Thank you so much for your beautiful card, I have taken in every inch of it as it sits beside me with all my other handmades. Your desk looks as it should do for a busy crafter, enjoy those creative days they help take our minds off the sadness and madness that whizzes around us.
Seasons WoywW Greetings, here's raising a glass to you Hugs Tracey #6 x

Busy to the last minute my friend. I called it a day on Monday and shut up my shop so I could do what’s needed to be done to prepare for our very different Christmas this year. We’ve one more Santa sack to deliver and then it will be just the two of us and maybe an occasional zoom or FaceTime. We will survive of course but hopefully things will be improved by next year. Stay safe and well my friend and hopefully we can all see each other next year.
Hugs,
Annie x

Oh how we differ in more ways than one.
1) ... in the tidy-up stakes! I guess kitchen table vs bed does make a slight game changer. Your scrappbook challenges sound cool, maybe I could do with some to change up my basic scrapping, could you point me in the right direction perhaps?
2 ... Nope no changes in plans for Christmas, just the 3 of us like it's been since March 17th (son came home from Uni a week early and never went back). Just hoping the supermarket shelves aren't empty when we come to do our usual Thursday shop this week (Christmas Eve - yikes).
3 ... And hot Chocolate for me every time. Never touch alcohol, makes me feel sick or want to sleep, so no point at all.

As for Alphabet stickers I have a few sheets, mostly gifted to me, but I never seem to have the right letters, so it's dies for me all the way. Still loving the Zelda alphabet I got from you, in fact it on the page laid out on my desk. Die Alphabets are only limited by the card/paper you have, love them.

Hope you get your desk sorted really quickly.
Have a wonderful Christmas, BJ#17

Ooh yes that is some serious tidying up! With you on the part used alphabet peel offs, i too cant throw away my part used ones. This was the main reason a couple years ago why i justified buying some alphabet dies so i can cut certain letters and use my scraps too (though it does take longer). Glad to see another using tissue paper too (i have just blogged my end result of last weeks tissue paper crafting).
Mulled wine or mulled cider here (well after work, mind you they wont know!!).

Happy Christmas
Kyla

Egg Nog?? (Said in a Lady Bracknell tone of voice), it’s the devil’s brew. Bleurgh......... Quite like a glass of mulled wine though! Cranberries in a G&T is inspired thinking but I’m intending going to the shops again so it’ll have to remain an idea! At least you’re using some of your old alphabet stash so it’s worth hanging onto it....hope you have a good day today!

Here’s some daft facts for you Julia regarding a strange Christmas.
For the first time In the 42 years me and the wandering welder have been joined at the hip, we will having our first Christmas dinner together.
For only the 2nd time in my 65 years on this planet I’ll be cooking it. The first time was because mum was to poorly.
We are quite excited to be spending it at home, even though we love our normal madcap Christmas.
Have a lovely day dear friend and thanks for keeping me on despite the usual non existent desk heehee

Oh Julia, your desk looks great, you have about (a 12x12) space as I do, to work on with everything else pushed or piled back high or to the sides, like the penny arcades penny drop thingy, with everything vicariously hanging on for dear life! I did tidy a little (a lot!) before taking my pictures this morning but...because umm, it looked like someone had Tipped their rubbish on my desk...confusing, for want of a better word. Our Christmas plans have changed as I know, most people's have, so we will make the best of it. As hubby says, at least we won't have to 'suffer' the Dysney channel or Peppa Pig all over Christmas! (HumBug! He has the hat!)Today, he's off to have his lockdown pony tail and beard cut off! WOoHoo! Have a Very Merry Christmas, pour yourself a very large G+T and....breathe!

Hi Julia, Hope you get your things put away and a good sized G&T with cranberries to help get you into the festive mood.

Hope you have a lovely Christmas Day. Sue

Mine's a G&T too Julia, but I don't half enjoy a mulled wine (mitt Rum, of course) in the season. How I miss my German Market trips! I have missed our trips to Lidl too where we bought the lovely German cookies and Stollen each year. Still better to be safe than sorry.
I too have been tidying up, although stamps went away not as clean as I would have liked but I promise to take them out again and give them a scrub when I can. Today is all about painting my journal page and then it is a proper whizzy tidy up and close the door for the day on Friday.
Thank you for another wonderful year of meeting friends, long may WOYWW continue.

Stay Safe and Well - Happy Christmas
Hugs, Neet 8 xx

Enjoy your Christmas G&T Julia, I’ll stay with my cup of tea or milky coffee🤣. I don’t think I/ know what a crop challenge is! Have just ordered some more stamps and a stencil. I have so many projects in my mind, I hope 2021 is the year I actually do some of them! I thought I was going to be early this morning, but I am number 19! What time do you get up? Wishing you a happy Christmas and a Covid free New Year xx. Angela

Terrific that you worked on a Crop just before the big day! Looks like a lot to tidy up, but I enjoy that part. If I get my act together I'm going to post my wonderful tubs of craftiness later this morning so you can drool over the organization or laugh at my OCD! Blessings of the season ~ Love, Karen

Hi Julia, I can't believe you fit in a Crop the weekend before Christmas! Your desk is testament to being an avid crafter - and I love it. I sometimes wish I had chosen the smallest bedroom as my craft room then I wouldn't have to share it as a guest room, but Mr M is well and truly ensconced in his man cave now. I never drank gin until a year ago - I'm not sure whether I hold you and LLJ responsible (for extolling the virtues) or if it's because I was given a new team at work - Beverages (and they are all alcoholic beverages)!! Have a lovely Christmas, enjoy your family and thank you for this blog, hugs Heather xx #30

Nice busy pre-Christmas desk, Julia! We are also all in lockdown starting the day after Christmas in Ontario, for 28 days. So we all seem to be in the same boat. Last minute pick-ups today, then hunkering down. We can all make Christmas what we want it to be, we have chosen happy, and as "normal" as possible with just the 2 of us. I hope you have too! Have a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year, it's GOT to be better than 2020!

Oooh I am even worse about alphabet stickers and I have a bunch of partially used ones too. and you have sparked an idea for me Julia. ( I am die cutting alphabet letters for monograms on gift tags which totally means I am going to be digging those stickers out of hiding to see what is there) Thanks for that! and Have a blessed Christmas! ~Stacy #33

Well, I crashed after posting and we had excitement very early with a new little calf being born he didn't ever expect, and a winter storm moving in late today. OH WELL, we can't go anywhere for Christmas so will be a great time to be Snow Bound. Your desk is full of ideas. Hoping you get time to create and enjoy. My SIL gave us an awesome snack pack. Pistachio Berry Blend, tart cherries, dried cranberries, almonds, cashews pistachio's and creamy white chips. Need I say DELICIOUS. May you and yours have a safe and relaxing Christmas. Enjoy WOYWW and All the last minute details. Cheers in crystal stemmed glasses.

Busy, busy desk. Haven't been to a crop or much of anything since this Covid crap started. I am bored staying home but beats going to hospital or doctors offices! Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and stay safe from this Covid! My favorite holiday drink this year is a peppermint mocha with Smirnoff Peppermint Vodka! Yum! Haven't done much Christmas baking...just some fudge and chocolate chip cookies. That is enough with the two of us! Vickie 35

Your desk looks a heap busier than mine, Julia. It's not that I haven't been doing stuff, it's just that I've been cleaning up my room so I can find stuff. Your folder of alphas is impressive. I have too many half used packs too. I try to think of words that don't use the most common letters just so I can make the most of them ... not easy. No eggnog for me though Alan has a yen for it ... more likely a yen for the good old days! Have a lovely day on Friday. Merry Christmas. Hugs, Elizabeth x #35
