What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 590

Seriously as the a pandemic news causes more and more of us to consider self-lockdown, please know that even though we’re far apart and the days go by at a ridiculous pace, ther’s always time and opportunity for a chat, online, face-time or its equivalent, old fashioned phone, whatever. If you need or want to chat, get a cup of something and reach out, please.
Now look here:

Yes yes, but in amongst the mess, there’s results. Finished results! In the heart shaped dish, you can just make out the circles with glasses that I have cut out from the sheet that was on my desk last week. I’ll show you why at some point. The turquoise mini album next to the sellotape is the freebie type that you used to get with developed photos. Thanks to Stacey, it now contains excess or unused die cuts. Get me taking good advice! You can just make out the lid of a clear plastic tube on the right of the pink handles ATG gun. It’s a button tube, the type you select buttons from in the haberdashery. I bought two or three from a lady on a fabric stall at Bath indoor Market and use them to store and lug about the brads and eyelets. Old fashioned but incredibly space saving and useful, and lets face it, old fashioned embellishments nowadays too! There’s a small pile (4) layouts waiting to be finalised...I don’t immediately put finished LOs in their albums see. I walk around them for a couple of days to see if I’d like to add anything or have a better way to journal on them. Mostly I don’t, but occasionally an improvement of a brad, gem or blob of something is very satisfying to my ‘how do I know it’s finished’ thing.
Now, I know this post is finished, and it’s your turn. As always and usual, please link your blog post here and show us the what and the where. This is scheduled because, glee of glees, I have to help out at work on Wednesday morning! Catch you very soon.

Oh wowhee, I'm first in the list, I don't think that ever happened before: goodmorning Julia!!! Hope you're doing fine?! I'm off to work now but I'll be back later this week to see what you're all up to... love from the Netherlands, Marit #1

Great way to store brads/eyelets Julia. I don't use them that often either these days, but they can add the perfect finishing touch. Love the layout! Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #2

I am not sure where my brads are.. of course I have loads... they'll be in boxes somewhere around me!! Seems like the linky thing has changed a bit as i had to refresh 3 times before my link showed up (even tried adding it again but got a message saying it was already added) so presumably that's another "improvement" like the blogger ones! Have a great day -off to get ready for work Helen #3

Morning Julia, that is indeed a great way to store brads, i've started using glass spice jars from Sainsbury's but could do with them being bigger really. I'm all for adding extra's to piece's we think are finished, it's amazing how our minds work when we step away from something then come back to it.
Have a good day & take care at work going to see who's around whilst I have my morning cuppa before I head out to help out to do what's needed today.

Morning Julia. Teehee - just read Helen's comment - so did I - 3 times and got the same message. Hmm... improvements...! I am most impressed at the industry there on your desk - a great idea using the button tubes! I must be VERY old and old fashioned, (ahem, cough), 'cos I use brads etc quite frequently...
You know where I am if you fancy a natter, too! It seems everyone is up early getting ready for work this morning. Oh dear! I'm up early simply because I woke up early - nothing so industrious as going to work! I don't think I shall even be going out. I did a month's shopping last week, so not planning on visiting there for at least another three weeks! So, home it is.
Take care. God bless.

Lots of interesting things today, Julia. My brads are in various tubs and divided boxes - and yes I still use them, although most date back to when we were living in Abu Dhabi and I used to go to Naif Street in Dubai to buy lots of embellishments - 8 or 9 years ago? I wonder whether some of my pages are every finished - often a work in progress... Have a good day. Susan - yet to be posted...

No mention at all of you aches and pains today so I’m really hoping they are now healing well for you. You certainly seem to have had a busy week creating and I’m impressed. You mention all the new rules for Covid and I’m got to be honest and say they don’t appear to affect me much...I can’t remember the last time I went to a pub and I’m usually heading to bed by 10 never mind wanting to be out clubbing now.
Life goes on and with our wonderful friends available for a chat we will get there...I’m always available too ๐Ÿ˜˜
Hugs,

Good morning Julia. It all looks very productive today.
I love the button tubes idea, but then I’m a sucker for any type of storage.
You’re right we need to reach out, especially if this winter is going to be as bad as now forecast. Take care, stay safe and happy WOYWW! Hugs Lynnecrafts #13

HI Julia, love your finished scrapbook page and I know what you mean about taking a couple of days to be sure you don't want to add anything else. I like to leave them overnight, then take them by surprise in the morning with fresh eyes. Great ideas for storage of brads, eyelets and dies. I still have loads of brads and eyelets and still like them so can't get rid. Here's a link to a YT vid with some interesting ideas for ways to use them I hadn't thought of before which you might like https://youtu.be/-S48_hQGOtQ

Hi Julia, I feel quite fed up with some people who don't follow the virus rules but lets face it the government don't help. However, I am not going to think about it for two minutes while I read your post. Very sensible to keep the LO's on one side before mounting them. As you know it's not something I make very often but I am doing something similar at the moment and already made a couple of boo boos through trying to mount the pages too soon but I'll get there in the end and it's nice to do something different that takes your mind off other stuff and my mum's doing well too so that's good(new care team). Have a lovely creative week and a happy woyww, Angela x15x

I love your brad storage and the layout on display on your desk. With the news getting worse it may be nice to have a WOYWW zoom meeting at some point. I love the contact of the desk hop, but actually talking would be lovely. Just a thought. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#11)

Hi Julia, I am itching to get back to scrapbooking, but I have a lot on at the moment, which I have to do.

That's a good idea for storing the brads and eyelets.

Hope you have a lovely day. Sue

Morning Julia, hope you are both well. I have to agree on the brads/eyelets thing. Please don't ask how many I have, probably every colour imaginable. Never think to use them either anymore, which is a shame.Totally agree about the reaching out, I'm always here, so anyone who needs some human interaction can contact me, anytime.Used to love seeing all those button tubes back in the day. The more things change the more they stay the same. Helping out at work? I'm out of touch so not sure if that is at the shop or someplace else. Perhaps I must read back, oh, 3 or 4 years to find out. Love the page and the title is a good 'un. Your way with words remains strong!

I have far too many brads, eyelets, snaps, etc. that I have no idea how I might ever use them up.

Inspiring desk as ever and whoo hoo that I manage 2 weeks in a row. One more week and I can say I am getting into the swing of it again LOL!

Missed this.

Happy WOYWW!

Hi Julia,
It seems ages since I posted but after a failed attempt a fortnight ago I only realised it was Wednesday last Thursday, so another week of one day merging in to the next. I love your funky layout and what an ingenious way of storing brads - I think I'm going to have to nick that idea if you don't mind!
Hope you have a good week,

It's a good idea to give your layouts some space before locking them up in an album, just in case. I do that with my journal pages as well before moving onto the next one. Happy Wednesday Julia! Hope you're keeping well. xx zsuzsa #20

Hi Julia, I have brads, and I have buttons, stored in empty jars. I almost said that I couldn't remember the last time I used them but there's one brad on the last page I made. Your storage sounds perfect ... much nicer than jam jars and less space wasting too. Leaving layouts out for further consideration is something I do too. I find I need to think about the best placement of journaling, not to mention exactly what that journaling should be. Hope you've had a good working day. Hugs, Elizabeth x #29

I love all the containers and dishes to hold all the little things but then I have a hard organizing those containers. LOL. Your desk looks organized and busy at the same time. Love the layout and love that background paper. Have a great week. Dorlene #31

Hi Julia. Hope that you were not worked too hard today :-)
Good to be back on. Life got in the way, then I got to point of adding photos, couple of weeks ago and instead deleted everything. Lost will to live.
It is still hit and miss trying to link to you. So strange. Good to be here. Anne x 26

Hello Julia! Your desk is looking mighty tidy! I love that layout. I have a picture frame of me and my boys in a frame that looks like that paper you used. I'm also loving the flip flop patterned paper you have on your desk. It would go nicely in my Hawaii scrapbook. Oh wait...I haven't even started it yet. Remember months ago, I wrote in one of my posts that I was going to create it and had ordered all sorts of Hawaii and beach themed stuff? How's it coming you ask? Aaahemm..well I...Oh alright, I haven't started it. But once I get through these next few weeks, it could happen. Hope you are well my friend. I am hanging in here. More stressed as the next election is upon us so I am grateful for my crafts and crafty friends!
Hugs,

The title on that layout is intriguing and I cannot read the journaling... so now I'm guessing what 'Bart' was before he was 'Bart'... or did I misread? You have my mind circling! It's scary that corona-numbers are rising - in Holland too... stay safe dear, and enjoy what we still CAN do! Love from Holland! Marit #1

Happy Very Belated WOYWW. I am amazed I even got a post finished yesterday, and knew that I wouldn't be back online to do any blog commenting. Giving it priority this morning (after doing some housework, including the sad job of going around the house and starting to gather everything that related to Buzz - he was small, but had a lot of possessions! - and also meeting up with our builder re. mystery water leak at our manager's cottage) before I start on all the blogging/designing stuff that is piling up in my Google Calendar. I have got lots of digital scrapbooking to do - with a 40 page photobook to create (there was a special offer last month to order one in advance for a much-reduced price). It will be featuring lots of Buzz pages - I took hundreds of photos of him over the years, he was very photogenic and would pose beautifully. Hope your day at work went ok. Ali x #34

That is so. lovely of you to offer your time to chat or whatever to anyone who needs it. Up until we went away two weeks ago I have rung a friend who lives alone (but has a large family so is not lonely for telephone calls or waves through her window and has neighbours who are good to her) every single day for about an hour. Couldn't carry on at the caravan as we don't have a good enough signal there. Did ring her one day on the mobile as we were out in the car. But it would be nice if she just rang me once I must say. Now I feel bad for voicing what has been in my head but no, I am leaving it here.
Love to see you leave your pages for a few days so you can think about additions or not - sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe I should do that with my journal.
I recognised the button display tube straight away I love seeing them at the haberdashery shops. Think I have bought the odd button just because I liked it not that I wanted it. They are tempting.
Well my lovely, you have a good week and stay safe and well.
Hugs - from one who has not stopped isolating - just in the car to medical things and back home or up to the caravan and back - so glad we have that bolt hole.
Extra Hugs, Neet 7 xx

My brads are stored in a box labelled "Brads." I've got quite a lot, but they don't get used very often. It's nice to know that they are there, though! I've also got a Cropadile eyelet tool but so far my hubby has used it more than I have! Thank you for your visit, and I agree about the shoddy behaviour of that van driver. The gate post is looking great now, and we are just waiting on developments re repairing/replacing the broken gate bracket so we can re-hang the gate. I'm glad you like the cross stitch! I'm very happy stitching away in the evenings watching TV with my hubby, and Tiny Carpet #4 is coming along nicely now.

Happy belated WOYWW,

Hi Julia! I do the same thing with my journal pages, wait a day or so and let it tell me when it's finished! Thanks for your kind words about the wedding, it was definitely a project of love! Thankfully Inky now seems to be back to normal, but it took almost a week! Have a great week and stay safe! Lindart #32
