What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 563

Apologies for the interruption in my posting late and not visiting last week. We had internet, intermittently, and the speed was about 0.001% - waiting for anything to load was ridiculous, so I gave up. Several phone calls to the provider. And then a hint that we’d change provider before we put up with any more (or rather, less) and pouf! Continuous service once again. I reckon someone’s chair was on the wire at their end. And so gentle Desker, what did I do whilst I had next to no digital distraction? I made a mess!
I took this on Tuesday afternoon because I’m supposed to be rushing about this morning. The card that caused me to use my notebook as a backing sheet is safely in the envelope for delivery today. It was made using the Pink Ink stamp and die set that you can see at left. The rest is the usual detritus and GKW. There are tickets on the iPad deckchair waiting for me to put them with my Lanzarote scrapbook pages - they gave us entrance to the house/studio (now museum) of Cesar Manrique. V interesting, and the reason why my notebook was out in the first place...it has some erm, notes about our visit in it!

And now an inevitable note about the Corona Virus. Well, about the potential isolation that we all may potentially feel. Blogging and social media will keep us in touch, we’ll take one day at a time and be here for each other...you don’t have to be alone - if you’re feeling it, ask for some digital company; somewhere round the world someone will be up and happy to chat. Hey, this may be the brave time when we start to use video messaging so we can actually meet! Keep as well as you can. One day at a time.

great to see you in time to link myself before work (you're a week out though with your numbers I think!) Amazing what a threat to leave an internet provider will do!! Take care and happy mess-making!

Glad your internet is back up to snuff Julia, especially at the moment. Thank goodness for online communication possibilities at present. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #2 (By the way I think you had week 561 twice. This is 563 by my calculation.

Hello Julia, being 1st or very close is knew to me. I do sympathise with the internet problems as I had months of being the only computer in the house that could only intermittently connect. Hours wasted trying to sort out the issue. I discovered the cause myself rather than with the "help" of apple, service provider, nbn and a computer repair company. All wasted time. However, in light of our crazy world it is wonderful to be able to chat to crafters from all corners of the world and say..... stay safe and keep crafting.

Morning Julia. So glad others use whatever is available as "scrap" paper when in a hurry!! I was talking with daughter number 1 last evening and said how important you all were to me, so yes, now will be an important time of using this media as a means of real communication. I'm not technically in one of the at risk groups - but I'm only 6 months off, so I shall just take care, and see what happens.
Take care of yourselves in the Dunnit household. God bless.

Happy WOYWW. Life is fairly normal for us, as we spend most of our time socially-isolated anyway. The internet is my main form of communication with the outside world. I am not getting any more crafting done, as my days seems to rush by far too quickly. I am going to get a Mothers Day card done today though. Ali x #9

It’s surprising what you can get when you threaten to move providers isn’t it? Well done you. We all need our internet at times like this. I’m not in the over 70 group but with diabetes and asthma I need to be careful and many of our gang will be the same.
Let’s hope we can all support each other and stay safe through it all.
Biggest hugs,
Annie x

Morning Julia, finally managed to put a post together today as everyone who needs *Stuff* has been attended too until tomorrow. What happy memories to reflect back on of your trip to Lanzarote amazing how even a ticket can spark happier times. Think I may need to get the photo albums out as I can not see our holiday going ahead this year.
Glad they rolled that chair from of the wire :D WoywW Hugs Tracey xx #10?
P.S I see Hubbies favourite bedtime drink on your desk thanks for the reminder now I must add that to the shopping list!

Hi Julia, we survived the trip back from France last Saturday having had a brilliant week. So pleased we went a week early as the Inghams lot that arrived as we left went home again the following Monday or Tuesday. Our friends who work there are on lock down and only allowed out for one hour at a time with official documentation, any longer than that and they pay a fine of 38euros but they seem happy enough at the moment sitting on the balcony drinking glasses of wine but not sure how long that will last. Anyway back to the desk. I can't quite work out what the black thing on the left with all the lovely colours in the middle is. I'm sure it's the Pink Ink you refer to but which one? I need a close look. Take care and happy woyww, Angela x12x

I was trying to work out which Pink Ink stamp you've used, can't quite see it.
Have fun recording your holiday bits and pieces.
Stay well

Thankfully I haven't had many problems with my internet service. I'm learning as I get older I don't manage it well. Hoping you have a great rest of the week.

Morning Julia! Since I am without a job for as long as it takes for the virus to slow down/disapear, I can join in on Wednesdays - a great football player once said: "every disadvantage comes with an advantage" - I hope you and your family are healty and stay safe! Horrible not having internet - especially since we are SO used to it now. The younger members of my family would most definitely have a big meltdown if ours went down.
At the moment I am still working in school- not sure how long it will last - very quiet here. At least I will be able to join in next week if we shut ( and we continue to have internet! eeek)

Hi Julia, great idea about the video calls, I know I have Skype on my PC but never used it. The Pink I k stamps are fab, aren't they, I have a couple, the dragon- of course- and the horse/unicorn. Look after yourselves, Love & hugs to you both, Shaz #6 XxXxXx

Just a mention, I noticed my week number was different to yours, so had a look back to see where I'd gone wrong, and noticed you have two week 561 posts! Huge hugs, Shaz X

Good morning, Julia. yes, perfect time to not 'unplug'. yay on better internet. here in my area of the sticks, people are isolating themselves. My county as well as immediate surrounding counties, have not been mandated yet but the largest town nearest me was pretty quiet yesterday. The food shelves are still near to bear but they're trying their best to keep up with the demand.

btw, this is week 563. You ran 561 two weeks in a row ;-)
Hugs & Creative Blessings! Kelly

Good Morning Julia, I spent so much time lingering over the texture of the what ever ( I still have not decided exactly what they are) panels outside your window) it took me a long time to read the words and peek at your desk haha.

Glad to hear your internet problems have been resolved. This is not the time for that to fail. We have been hunkered down and lots of reading, crafting and playing have occurred. I am glad to hear you are crafting too. Pop on by and see what I am working on when you get some time. Be well my friend!

Was awake early again so sauntered out towards 6.30 and hoped you would be up this week before my gel bottle pinged in the microwave. it did.
How lovely to have something to do to remind you of sunny days in a beautiful island. Cannot remember whether we went to his house or not - saw some peculiar signs on something for the toilets? Must check on a friend we have over there as he is getting on a bit but a lovely healthy man.
Stay safe and well, hope your mum is ok.
Hugs, Neet 1 xx

Good morning, Julia! I've still been following although unable to post due to computer gremlins. My PC updated and then I couldn't post to Instagram. We have terrible internet as well. Never get what we are paying for but nothing else available where we live. Happy Wednesday! Stay Well!

Hi Julia, Glad you managed to get your internet sorted. What a lovely busy and sunny desk you are sharing. I am currently in the chaos of working from home and expecting Alex to be sent home at any moment. I am keeping an eye on some elderly neighbours as well as friends from church while trying to juggle students who can no longer do their lab projects due to the labs being closed. Anyway, wishing you a very Happy WOYWW. Thank you for being a brightspot in this challenging time. With love and God Bless, Caro x (#14)

Hi Julia, glad you got your internet sorted, and sorry I'm late in the day commenting. I managed to do my blog post early, but then had a conference call due with a supplier in China so had to prep for that, and have been on the go ever since. Your comment about video messaging made me laugh. The conference call turned out to be a Teams video call - everyone had their cameras on, and when I saw "me" I realised I hadn't brushed my hair. Ah well, at least I was dressed! Have a lovely week, and stay safe, Heather xx #13

Hi Julia,
Messy desks are great - they signify that you have been having a lovely, creative time, and it's so satifying when you eventually get round to tidying them too!
I'm hoping that the resolution of your internet gremlins means I can leave this comment - haven't succeeded in registering my visits for a few weeks now!
Have a good (messy) week, and thank you for making this workdesk-sharing thing happen!

Glad you got your internet working better! We have very slow internet but unless we go satellite we're stuck.
I bet you'll figure out a way to use that sheet of paper on a card or page! I have cleaned up my GKW pile or maybe it's moved...
Anyway, have a great week.

Hi Julia, glad you've got your internet sorted out. We, too, have found suggesting we're considering changing provider works miracles. Your holiday must seem so far away now - how quickly life changes. I'm in constant contact with my daughter and she's doing okay, certainly not getting any worse. Stay safe. Hugs, Elizabeth x #31

Looks like I forgot to stop by...just went scrambling to visit others. I had a lot of problems connecting this morning, What would our world do if total internet was not available? Kids are all out of schools, doing things on line. It's our only way of connecting with the world other than TV and our local area cannot be reached, we have cable and connect to areas 120 to much farther away. Those areas don't have our local weather. We get that from the radio or some phone service through the internet. TV here sucks anymore. But we pay dearly to see reruns ! I truly need a haircut and shops are all closed. I think basically only gas stations/grocery stores/big box stores are open. And with limited hours. I haven't been out but DH says the shelves are empty, paper products/fresh fruit/veggies are empty. Glad we have a freezer full and neighbors with fresh eggs. We have sever weather forecast for today...high winds, possible 3 inches of more snow rain and tornadoes south. So fingers crossed for electric to stay on. Hoping by next week things have somewhat improved. Off to crafting !

Thanks for popping by this week & so sorry I am late getting back to you - total meltdown day yesterday when I had to look into H's beautiful big blue eyes through the letterbox and tell him "not today" when he asked to come in. His mommy was dropping us some fruit and bread into the porch - how do you explain all this to a five year old! I cried non-stop for 8 hours after he kissed me through the front window. Imagine all the celebrations and hugs that are going to take place once this horrible, horrible time is over. Much love to you my dear friend. Love Debbie xXx

I was thinking the same thing about video messaging - wouldn't it be great to have the WOYWW get together via Facetime or Skype? Then I could meet everyone! Nice busy desk today! Stay safe, and have a great week! Lindart #26

Sorry to hear you had Internet problems, Julia, and glad that all is now well again. You are right - in the current crisis, online contact is so important, and we can all encourage one another. Thank you for your visit and I was interested to hear your take on Slimming World. Over the years I spent losing my 4 1/2 stone I became more and more convinced that losing weight is NOT about "dieting" but about a change for the better in lifestyle, and the whole-food plant-based lifestyle is superb for weight loss, and maintaining a healthy weight and never having to worry about how much you are eating. I am just hoping that in the absence of my hubby's Slimming World group for the duration, he won't fall off the wagon, but since he's not going out much at the moment, he is only eating what I give him, so all should be well!

I agree, where to these ideas spring from? The idea I had about the teabag bleaching just popped into my mind after weeks of not really thinking about it! Some of my best ideas have come in dreams, too! The brain is indeed a very mysterious thing.

Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #22
