What’s On Your Christmas Workdesk? Wednesday 551

Happy Christmas! I hope that whatever you’re doing, that you enjoy a lovely day. At some point, some of us may well manage some quiet time and the chance to visit you on this special day is too good to miss really, you that are a such a steadfast and warm presence in each other’s lives. This is scheduled. Mr Dunnit said that however busy a day we have planned (and we do), we simply must not get up at working times. I won’t. I need waking. He will though, he can’t help it.
I haven’t even turned the light on in my workroom today until now.
The red berry lights on the chair are actually supposed to have been put away, I must have been distracted. I can’t get enough of fairy lights at Christmas, but I have to admit defeat with these. So a non-action but non-tidied desk. Elsewhere in the house, there was action. Wiring in of a new kitchen appliance caused a failure on the sockets circuit. Took ages to work back and find out how/why, and at one point the circuit that controls the new heating system was also affected. Just as I thought I was going to have to pack up all the food and drink and presents and take it to the sweet Mother In Law’s house, it was corrected. He was stressed. I suggested a lie down in a dark room. He chose to test the underfloor heating in the new bit.
I had to ring Jan to check that I’d done enough sprouts, and as with best mates the world over, she said she’d have some spare if I need them. I’m not counting, but have promised that there will be a minimum of 10 sprouts each. Of course, the potential for bubble and squeak is enormous.
If you’ve time, please show us what you’re up to this Christmas, and allow some time for visitors! Season’s Greetings and very much love to you.

I am like Mr D - I wake at "work" time no matter what day it is - so I have linked already and am going back to bed with my cuppa for a lie in. I just thought I'd check first if anyone was here...... I will be at my brother's later till tomorrow so my visits may be late but will get done.

I like neither sprouts or bubble and squeak but hope that you enjoy both and that Mr D got up off the floor (great pic) - glad he sorted the electrics and the heating... I looked out of the window at one stage yesterday to notice a neighbour over the road with a Dyno-rod van outside...these things do have a habit of happening at the most inconvenient times!

Wishing you all a fabulously Merry Christmas xxx

Dearest Julia, so glad you've a lie in, well done.. and wondered why Mr D was like that till reading informed me! Sprouts, cooked right, nice, overdone not nice, but not ten at any time! Actually just realised they're cabbage so can't eat them now or cauli, etc too many not eat, but way it is.
Happy WOYWW and every blessing on your Christmas day.
Prayer hugs.

Here's to a great Christmas for you and yours. Gosh, don't think I could manage 10 sprouts 2 is more the number for me - as homage to the tradition rather than for enjoyment. Just thinking, if there were 10 of you multiplied by 10 sprouts each that would be 100 to top and tail! The mind boggles.
Just the two of us again but this time we are not at home and I am so looking forward to going for a walk later this morning providing the rain holds off. Then it's back for the Christmas Dinner and a bit of gin.
Hugs, Neet 14 xx

When you have animals they don't know what day of the week it is, so up early every day. Underfloor heating what a luxury I don't even have central heating but have dodgy electrics haha. I allowed 6 sprouts each and had plenty over. My friend wanted to give them to the dog - told him he could sleep with him if he did! Have a good day and a Healthy new year to you and yours, thanks for all you do in the running of this blog. Ani #8

Lol at Mr. D taking time out!!! Brilliant. And that’s a LOT of sprouts. Sprouts are like Marmite. I happen to love the former and dislike the latter although I used to eat a lot of it as a child. We will be having sprouts but not Marmite today despite the fact my hubby gets through a lot of Marmite!! I wasn’t sure there was going to be a WOYWW today so well done you, Julia, for keeping things going for us all! I did a post just in case. Hope you both have a lovely day and there isn’t too much bubble and squeak to get through over the next week.

Happy WOYWW and Christmas,

I'm like you, Julia, unwilling to start the day too early. On the other hand, the EM is up before the crack of dawn! I swear he lives a life I know nothing about in those hours before I surface. Glad you got the electrics sorted out, if only so those sprouts are cooked. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Elizabeth x #17

Thank you for your visit, Julia, and for your valuable insights into cutting on a glass mat - very interesting. Perhaps I shall try it again. I haven't done it for years since hearing that it blunted the blade - I think I heard that in the context of glass chopping boards in the kitchen.

I've finished the first of the cards and had hoped to get it off today to be in time for the birthday on 1st Jan, forgetting that it will be a bank holiday! I couldn't post it today because the glue (silicone!) was still wet. She'll get an e-card and a promise for a "real" one in the post! Silicone is great but it is messy. I struggle with glue at the best of times... I'm sure they all loved the cookie cutters - they were adorable.

Once I finish this little stash of cards, I'm going to be doing some more, using my cutting machine. More about that in my next WOYWW post!

Catching up..funny post"man down" I understand and hopefully he was quiet about it. Isn't it something what we go thru for the holidays and POOF it's over and the stress of destruction and storage follows. We love sprouts here and I've gotten so roasted with cheese is pretty tasty. I hope you all had fun, Merry Merry
