What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 513

Welcome to the mad house. I have it ALL going on! One desk looks like this
And the other square inch of space in front of the computer is crammed full of month end stuff for the business. That’s come round too fast and I am NOT enjoying learning accounts by computer. Gimme a ledger! Here on my real desk I’m playing with ideas for a card making workshop. I try to keep stamping at the front of the workshop because I love it, but it would be very easy to do them all from die cuts and stencil work these days. Anyway, as always, playing with stuff creates a huge mess and a lot of you will be blinking in alarm; I can’t reassure you yet about any tidying up. You can see I’ve been inking and sponging, gah it’s messy. That was Sunday and my nails are still an unrealistically healthy pink!
Week 520 and therefore WOYWW 10th anniversary are really coming up now. If you missed it, there’s news about the Crop on the previous post. We’d LOVE to see you if you can and want to come! Meanwhile, keep my untidy mind full of inspiring stuff please - post and link here. It really helps!

Looks like you have lots of ideas if that list is anything to go by Julia. Hope the accounts are all out of the way now! Happy WOYWW. Sarah #2

I like your sponges! hope your many ideas come to fruition. I am hopeless at ideas for cards! Don't envy you with the accounts, hope you get the computerised version off pat soon! Helen #3

I dont know how you craft in such a small space. Was wondering what those pink things were, they look like giant dried peaches lol

Well done for learning the computerised accounts, the very thought makes me shiver! Your desk is particularly impressive this week, I think we should have had a close up of your pink nails!

Looks like you've been having lots of fun there....and no I don't mean the bookwork! Well done you for getting your head around on line accounts. Mine consists of a spread sheet and I'm still not up to date with it...but am expecting my end of year tax letter any day now so that will be a job to do soon :-(
Hugs,

Morning1 I use the sponges for inking these days, though I have moved on to the dinky ones. It's shocking how quickly just prepping one thing can escalate into a huge mess. Still get irritated by my lack of control (i swear I am congenitally untidy) but it wouldn't be me if there wasn't an element of chaos. Hope you get your head round the a/cs and get your projects sorted. Have a good one. Cindy

Hi Julia, good luck with the accounts. I'm glad I don't have that to contend with anymore! There doesn't seem to be many card making workshops up in my neck of the woods, which is a shame - but I do get lots of ideas from desk snooping! Your notebook is cute! Hopefully I will be at the Crop! Have a lovely week Heather x #14

Hi Julia, Not sure about the accounts but guess it has to be done but I would love to see the cards when you finally decide how they will go. I've been asked to think up something the girls can make at a hen party and I really need to get my head round it soon. All ideas welcome. Happy woyww, Angela x15x

Oh djeez... those 'numbers' (accounts) every month again... when it comes to that I am really happy we don't own a business anymore! And then there's spam-comments to take care of (there's a comment about escort to this post Julia, you might wanna throw that in the trash!) I'm glad to see some fun and creative action on your desk, and I wish you more me-time this week! Hug from Holland, Marit #16

Hi Julia, love the egg shaped sponges, but yes, your fingers do end up looking like you haven't washed for 6 months! Imperial Leather soap is very good at ink removal, if you didn't know. Happy to see lots of stuff on the desk, I take it the book is listing all the steps in making the card? Love & Hugs, Shaz #1 XxXx

Love the busy desk and the card propped up on your easel. I do love stamping and mixing it with other techniques so look forward to seeing what you decide on in the end. Thanks for hosting us as always. Have a great week. With love and God Bless. Caro xxxx (#10j

Hi Julia, your desk is looking very productive this morning and I love the card in the background - what a gorgeous flower stamp - I really like the elongated layout. Good luck with the computer accounts, sounds a bit of a nightmare to me, but then I'm still getting to grips with Facebook!
Have a great week,

I wish you luck Julia with the new accounting system. Ive stamped my foot and told the welder that at 70 year old he should be retiring and there is no way I am learning a new system that would entail me having to get a new computer and I'm no giving up my pen and book for anyone. So the powers that be (the accountant) said either they will do the VAT return or we can deregister. I said just give me my pension I'm off.

Oh Julia, I so understand paper and maths as opposed to computerised system, things stay in right spot there, but computer seems to have its own rules. Am struggling today but will try to comment more... very bad last week, hope I’m organised by the 10th Annie as certainly not now! Hope and pray you’re well.
Happy WOYWW, hugs Shaz in Oz. X #13 PS I’m impressed you knew super Mario I had never heard of it till asked my sister!

Ooh! yes, Ledgers every time! I tried Sage and Quicken but .... ledgers were still good.
I did accounting at night school and our tutor was a semi-retired accountant who knew lots of shortcuts to help us .... you don't get that sort of information from a computer package!!
Love all the equipment to prepare for the workshop .... have fun.

I've signed in, but still having problems with my photos, despite thinking I'd sorted it last night. I will keep at it, and in the meantime, sorry to anyone not able to view them.

Sorry you are having to do the dreaded accounts again. I shall be tackling ours in a few days. Horrible job.

Happy WOYWW,

I hope you soon get the hang of that pesky computer system. I am sure you will. In between all that, just make sure you have plenty of time for nice inky things. xxx Maggie (Silvercrafter) #11

End of month, End of quarter.. ugh! Doesn't seem possible we're looking at the next 90 days. As to mess... my desk is in rare form this morning and will look worse before I'm through LOL Hugs and Creative Blessings! Kelly (no number yet)

Hi Julia, I have some of those sponges because, they came with some makeup brushes and I have not played with them yet, so that did make me smile that your nails are pink. ( at least its not you know some color that people grab your hands thinking your fingers are in danger of falling off lol) :)
I like the note book and that the page is decorated on it too. but, I really have no clue what the shiny rectangle is to the left of that. ~Stacy #27

Hi Julia! What a lovely busy messy desk! I don't envy you doing accounts, I hope I never have to! I agree with you about keeping stamping at the forefront of a cardmaking class, have fun! Lindart #29

I'd like to say yours is the only madhouse today but if you had seen mine these last few days you'd have realised you're not alone. I'm sure you'll crack the new way of keeping accounts and be back to preparing for the workshop before too long. Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #31

I never thought I would use die-cuts as much as I do these days. Stamping was the one and only way for me but it is so easy to create with dies nowadays. Guess that shows just how much they have improved.
Why not do a mixture of cards for your class - some stamping, some dies? Whatever you choose in the end I am sure it will be a successful day with you in charge.

Thank you for your visit, Julia, and I'm glad you could see all the pictures, at least for now. I hope they "stick" this time. I still don't know what the problem is... So glad you like my fun slippers. I've got them on now and am reluctant to take them off as it's really cold!! Just when I thought spring was finally here.

Oh no! Another week and no desk from me! I'll have to make an effort( though not next week - off to Paris...again) or I may get drummed out!! I was hoping to go to the crop if you'll have me(us!)! You look to be very busy - we met someone the other week who was wishing for her ledger back! Hugs,Chrisx

That's quite a list! And hope you get your account learning accomplished! I did have to figure out my quarterly sales tax to pay - done. I'm looking forward to photos of the 10th anniversary crop! I so enjoy putting faces to names!
Have a great week!

Bear of little brain here hopes those red eggy shaped things are your art sponges otherwise I am completely baffled! Hope the computerised bookwork is manageable - sometimes technology just makes life more tricky doesn't it. xx Jo

Happy Belated WOYWW. I didn't get time to sit down and join in this week, but there wasn't any crafting going on anyway! They days/weeks/months just seem to fly by far too quickly, and my craftroom is definitely more office nowadays. Rich has spent the past few months learning a new online accounting software. He has mastered it now, but only after several late nights and all-days! Looking forward to seeing you and Jan on Monday. Hopefully the gin shop in Narberth will be open! Ali x

HI Julia, well that looks like a desk in the throes of creativity to me, just as it should be. The computer accounting however, ick, don't envy you that task at all, hope it's all done and dusted by now as I'm late to the party as usual :o) Have a lovely weekend! Annie C #12
