What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 390

Ha Ha! Or should I say Ho Ho! It's a bit like getting blood out of a stone, but I'm working on a Christmas Cards workshop and there is the evidence...

It's not looking too messy is it?! And certainly isn't telling the story of the difficulty I'm causing myself by not having any decent ideas! That plastic box at left is the gems section of my stash. Of course I rootled through it to find the holly berries you can just see on the card that still isn't finished. Meanwhile, an explanation of the stunning daylight is due to you. Took this picture on the hoof yesterday, just after lunch when Mr Dunnit announced that Wednesday was to be a date day. I know, you're all thinking how sweet and considerate he is. Date DAY is actually a day where I get to ride with him in the big white van to help out with deliveries to sites and 'run interference' at jobs where there is fitting to be done. My talking skills quite often help in these situations - they prevent the home owner standing in the room telling Mr Dunnit how to do his job, or explaining that he would do the job himself only he's incredibly busy. You get it.
HUGELY looking forward to seeing any of you that can come to the Crop on Saturday, my word it's been ages! Meanwhile, entertain us will you, please post your inspiring and enabling seasonal desk pictures for us to ogle and discuss. It's important for those of us looking for inspiration on a permanent basis!

Your card is looking good Julia. Diplomacy skills invaluable!

Well, that is a date day with a difference but what a great way of describing you riding in the big white van.
No worries about Christmas card inspiration being lost out there, mine is too. Think the old Vagabond will have to come out and there will be more of the cards already done in the end.
Have a good date!

I always need inspiration. I see also you have no snow. Very cold and frigid winds here, North they have snow and ice so I feel fortunate. I like the assortment of cards you are doing. The black with the snowman very pretty. Have fun on that date, I take hand projects to work on when I'm ask to go, as it is never a place for me to be in the first place. Have a fun week, Happy WOYWW.

I like how your christmas card is turning out I never can figure out what to do with those type of papers and cutting them out to be numbers is a fantastic idea. It's funny how handy some home owner becomes when they hire someone or talk to a contractor all they have done is hung a shelf in reality lol have fun making the christmas cards hugs Nikki 3

your desk looked fun until you said Christmas Card then my head dropped and I looked at my desk. Nope not one Christmas thing. Why is it that is is so hard to really get into Christmas cards???
Your crop, however, sounds very inspiring!! Have a great time!

Good morning Julia
I don't go on jobs with the welder anymore since I got dumped in the middle of nowhere in Ireland for two days with nothing to do, no transport and rain. Then to cap it all ended up coming home on my own, via two flights out of Ireland, because the job turned out to be a nightmare. Oh yes and one day I ended up sat in his van for five hours without a cuppa. Which is probably as well as there were no loos.
So no I am not going with him again.
Wish I was coming to the crop.

Hi Julia, I was going to say enjoy your date day, until I read what it actually was:)

Hope you can get more Christmas cards sorted.

I'm not taking part in WOYWW this week, but wanted to stop by and see what you had been up to:) Sue

Hi Julia, loving the card idea, and the snowman one I can see off to one side. Then again, I'm a sucker for anything in black and white. lol. There is nothing more irritating than being told how a job should be done, especially by someone you know doesn't have the first clue!Get it at work, from managers that you know would not know where to start if you walked off and left them to it. :) I am being good this week, not an enable in sight, rofl. See you Saturday. Love & Hugs, Shaz xx #9

Not WOYWWing this week, but popped over to say hi, date day, I was impressed... how funny Mr D calls it that, maybe he likes to have you as his right hand man, 😊 so to speak.
Your desk is tidy Julia mine is such a tip, not home enough to focus on it and get things done. It's mind blowing that there is less than a week of November left.😑
Will be doing last Rydolph challenge on Friday hopefully.
Happy WOYWW, ❤️❤️

I wish I had time to WOYWW, but plan to next month. I hope the crop goes well and you take lots of pictures for those of us who can't possibly be there!

Have a fun date day. Your talking skills will surely help today because that's one thing you are especially good at!

I really like your Christmas card, and gave me a new idea to use my We R Memory Keepers Alphabet Punch Boards. I can relate to the feeling of being in the right mood to create, because I just started my Christmas cards this week too. Blessings!

Happy WOYWW. Well done for having anything Christmas-y on your desk. I have almost given up on the idea of making any cards this year. Already bought 20 when I was shopping last week, and then spent some time last night on the Thortful website eyeing up their gorgeous selection. My excuse is that I am enjoying my journaling and bookmaking far too much! We have Date Days very like that - involves driving round agricultural suppliers looking at machinery, which hopefully will include a lunch out. At least we are driving in our beautiful county and I can avoid housework for a few hours. Wish I could get to the Crop. I did look at trains, but it would take 6 hours each way. We still talk about moving further east one day. Ali x #32

OK having a trying time today.
1) Have nasty cough but trying to carry on but not being able to do some things as just physically not able.
2) My PC Photos albums aren't working properly - really don't need this today.
3) Blogger has changed and can't drag and drop photos on post and have to revert to the old way of uploading photos to page.
4) Christmas isn't happening at all..........
Glad to see you have managed some Christmas. BJ #33

Oh dear, Julia, after my recent run of being early to link I've slipped down again! I had a bad night with precious little sleep so found it hard to get going this morning. Worth making the effort though because I'm still chuckling at Mr Dunnit's idea of a date day. Romantic it may not be but you do get to spend some quality time together, albeit in the cab of a van :) The card on your desk looks lovely. I don't have to hope you enjoy Saturday, I know you and everyone attending will have a thoroughly super time together. Hugs, Elizabeth x #35

It was indeed a wonderful, sunny day yesterday in Holland too, but today I only see rain, rain and more rain... hope you can send the sun our way please? I love your (relatively neat) desk today Julia. Good luck with the x-mas cards and preparing the workshop. Love from the Netherlands, Marit #36 (yes, I'm late today...)

Good morning Julia. Oh how that sun shining though the window looks beautiful and I also noticed no snow....we don't have much but some here which the yuck of cold weather. I am loving your cards and noticed the snowmen in the background.....I only have one done should get a few more done but honestly would rather be working on layouts or mini albums. Have fun on your putting today and hope it goes smoothly today for the two of you and enjoy the crop. Have a fantastic week. Hugs Always ~Anne L#2

I like the look of that card...abut I get about the decent ideas; if it wasn't for Pintrest, I'd be still on the first set; they've been fighting me every step of the way. Hope your Date Day had some fun, and enjoy the crop! Some day I hope to make it!

Hi Julia,
That red card looks very nice and your desk looks fine to me!
Had to laugh at your "date day"!
I've just been to my knitting group at the local library this morning. I've only been going for a few weeks, but am quite enjoying it. We can knit in air conditioned comfort in the middle of summer!
Hope you all have a great time at the Crop Day. Look forward to seeing pics next week :)

Sorry I forgot to leave a message on Wednesday - I went straight to the links and got distracted. You're probably at the crop as I write this - hope you're having a fab time with the girlies. No doubt there will be lots of photos to look to look at next week. Date day, LOL! I ran an errand with my hubby yesterday and indeed it felt like a date - we almost never do anything just the two of us - it was actually quite nice! See you next week! xx
