Enjoy!

From the 'Bumpy cards' workshop..(next week actually, panic over!)
My to do list for today is looking a bit miserable.  Who knew that Mr Dunnit would decide that today would be a day off for him too!  I didn't, for sure, so I brought forward a couple of 'we' plans. We had to go to the mobile phone shop. Safer to go in a pair; the young-impatient-and-bloody-bored  'assistants' aren't so intimidating when you go with your life mate...instead of wanting to run away and weep, we get giggly and silly.  It makes the young even more bored. And unable to hide it. But really, this phone stuff - it makes me lose the will to live.  Are me and Mr Dunnit the only people in the world who don't know how many free minutes, talk- time and data our phone deals provide?  It's not information we spout at dinner parties - although I do know people who are intimate with such figures.  I'm so *YAWN*, sorry to be rude, *YAWN*, but it's not *YAWN* interesting. We can't be the only people who really want it all to be streamlined and simplified.  Honestly, it's as complicated as learning to use the damn things.  Although of course, I have been blinded by the convenience of a mobile phone and don't want to give mine up any time. I plan to use it till it falls apart though, I'm not about about to 'upgrade', 'switch', 'play my contract' or anything else. I can't be bothered.  I don't want the re-learning humiliation.  Or the cost, frankly.  Mr Dunnit needs a new one because the creeping dust generated by his joinery work is starting to play havoc with his buttons.  No, really.  But we didn't get one.  What we did get was a MAGAZINE full of tariffs and choices and Ohh em gee,  stuff that I am so not getting involved with. Although of course, I will have to.  Because in order to make an informed decision, Mr Dunnit will need to see previous bills and history for his current phone.  And if I don't get involved.....it'll be strewn across two tables and NEVER PUT AWAY.  There.  See.  I knew this complicated stuff would make me grumpy! Argh.
Meanwhile, have a lovely lovely long weekend.  Take a chance to have a break, you deserve it. ENJOY!

Hubby is a total gadget and tecchy freak and begging me to trade my 5 year old phone in. All it 'sadly' can do is call, receive and text...the purpose of it's invention. Slip into a coma in these shops too - if there's a phone with a stamp cleaning app I could be swayed... lurving the card - fab colour combo! My to do list has faded into a to die list here too...wasn't planning on offering up my crafty space as a storage room whilst the floors were sanded - ugh.
Happy Easter and choccy bunnies anyway! Sarah.

Oh, I'm so with you on this, Julia. Seeing me trying to access my blog on mine whilst on holiday was too painful to watch - I gave up when I spotted a cyber-cafe. As for apps - no, haven't got time - I'm with Sarah, if there isn't one for stamp cleaning I don't want it. And 'play my contract', what is that?!?! Last time the EM persuaded me to change almost had me apoplectic - I lost my entire directory, just like that! Love the card, by the way - great colours and nice mug. Happy Easter :) Elizabeth x

I'm with you on this one too. I still have pay as you chat! cannot be bothered with all that stuff. I think they must be specially trained to be that annoying in phone shops

My sympathies Julia, the phone shop visit is to be avoided. I did all our buying on line then landed up spending over two hours with numerous unidentifiable call centre people to help sort out the mess. A necessary evil. Unlike your card which is gorgeous. Thanks for the suggestion of die cuts so many woyww gave me great ideas that I will consider buying the die cut so I don't have to go through the search for cogs again. Have a lovely easter.

Exactly Julia!!!I agree entirely. Yes..re assistants. I asked one once when he had served everyone else but me, and they were all before me, if he was always rude to older people.I said what I was going to buy, and then told him I was headed to another hardware shop because he was rude...etc He was a bit shocked. I think we olders just become invisible to the young.

Love the card Julia. I am with you on the mobile phone front. I can just about make a call and do a text and that's all I need to do. The Son has i-phone, i-pad and goodness knows what else, glad he pays the tariffs!

I'm an iphone believer I'm afraid. Have to say though, I agree with you about the phone shops. My suggestion is to do the majority of the shopping research online, go to the shop to actually pick up the handset and see if you like it physically, then come back home and order it online!

Hope it gets sorted soon x

I'm enjoying the fact that I may be one of three people left in the world over the age of five who does not own a cell phone. It sounds like a real hassle to me. But I know you will finally make it all come together, even if it takes longer than your contract and your phone's life. BTW, I enjoyed the card. Wish I could stamp like you.

Have a super happy Easter!

Oh Julia, you are funny.

First the pertol "crisis" (I did managed to get petrol in the end the other week so we did make it to and from the dentist without having to rely on fumes - phew!)

Now the mobile Phone dilemma. I only "upgrade" when my phone becomes unuseable and only then to the oldest current model!! I did switch to Pay&Go some time ago and find that suits me fine as my phone is really just for MY emergencies and not my lifeline to the world! I have even switched OFF the message ansa service as I didn't wish to pay to listen to a message everytime I didn't hear the darn thing. Now I have a fighting chance as it rings 20+ times!

Anyway, love your "bumpy card" especially the colours but don't get me onto the cost of posting these.............BJ

Yes, please, streamlined and simplified, please. On ALL things. They don't make them. Everything has to have 32 buttons, the phones, the microwave, the dishwasher, the washer and dryer. Seriously? I just want on and off, for God's sake. I must be too stupid to be here. Love your card, your post, and you! Thanks for the giggle, as ever! Happy holiday to you and Mr. Dunnit!

Love the card! I have a pay as you go with a good deal attached. Much simpler and I am not swapping. A friend gave me the phone when mine packed up which saved me the hassle of choosing. When I was looking for one, it was an absolute nightmare! Have a fab weekend with no grumpiness! xx

Your posts about mundane life always makes me snile. Your turn of a phrase and the way you are so frank just make me happy. I do so love coming to your blog! Hope you and Mr. D. got a decision made about his phone! I just stopped by to wish all a very Happy Easter, may you be blessed, waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

I laughed reading your post today! I have a pay as you go without camera and I think I can access the internet on it but don't because of the cost and besides I don't know how to (although I do like the idea of being able to tweet from a phone so I don't have to get up off the sofa and cross the room to the pc cos I don't have a laptop either...) and hardly ever make calls on it - it's just for emergencies - if you could see how long it takes me to text you'd laugh! Hope Mr D gets something sorted. Happy late Easter Sunday... been busy painting and stripping wallpaper with my brother down at Mum's... looking forward to a rest tomorrow!

Lol... i am sitting here blog hopping instead of looking for a phone replacement. Mine is a basic 5 year old phone that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. My family knows that if I don't respond within five minutes, call my house, or try again. I just resist technology upgrades for as long as I can.

Exactly the reason I never want a cell phone...yes... I guess I'm practically a Luddite....I don't have a cell phone...and never will.

Your posts always make me laugh Julia, no matter how grumpy you are about something when you write it! I can sympathise about the phone. DH organised mine but is trying to change the plan because... well I don't know actually, my eyes glazed over and he stopped talking!

I hate the bored giggly and/or holier-than-thou sales people. I was just thinking about them too, wanting this CD and being referred to this icky record store for it. Icky because I stopped by after work in my hose and heels and all these tattooed and pierced salespeople just sneered and rolled their eyes at me. I wanted to scream "It's called Corporate America-it's why I can spend $100 in your store, you losers!" Anyway.... I ordered from Amazon. I don't have a cell phone. I can't think of anyone I want to call that urgently. I hate phones.
