What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 504

Well, self explanatory, I think!
Two great lumps of oak. They've been in use in my  house for ages; yesterday when I was dusting and cleaning upstairs, it occurred to me that I could gussy them up a bit. So after chores today, they are my plan. Should only take an hour or so. There's the remnants of a weekend scrapbook session - the acrylic box contains embellishments like fabric brads, flair badges. Some essential tools at right and a stamp that says 'Let the evening Be Gin' - it seems appropriate!
No snow in these parts, although it is horrid cold; stay warm and safe y'all. In fact, stay in and visit desks after you've shown us yours. If you need one, I'll write you a note.
Please put WOYWW in your post title and then link here as normal. Thanks ever so.

Barely any snow here (yet) it's cold too, but I am glad I am not in the US where I see they are expecting -51 in parts.. Will look forward to seeing what you do with those blocks of wood...

Morning Julia. Glorious blocks of real wood - love the stuff! Enjoy using them, and I look forward to what you make of them. We have about an eighth of an inch of snow - but that's unusual here as we are so close to the sea - must be more somewhere... as you say, stay indoors today might be a plan - but if I don't get to the shops soon I shall accidentally become a major slimming advert!
Take care girl. God bless.

Wowee what fun you will no doubt have with those blocks of oak! Am looking forward to seeing what 'gussying them up' really entails and will they have a use/purpose afterwards? In fact what were they in use for previously? you have me intrigued. You could do a whole post on these oak blocks.
Love the "Be Gin" stamp, I often wish my 'Vodka' stamp said 'Gin'. Why would I drink Vodka when I could be drinking Gin?
Chin Chin!

Hi Julia, We had snow yesterday evening. It layed everywhere except the paths and roads, which remained wet. Hoping it's not iced up this morning, but with temps of -4, I'd be surprised if it hasn't.

Like others I am intrigued to know what you use the wood blocks for.

Happy WOYWW

Happy WOYWW. Interested to see what happens with those wood blocks. We will be in Spain next week and the following Wednesday, but I may be meeting up with the local craft group (and also visiting a lady who makes wonderful dolls) so I will join in with WOYWW if I have photos to share. Ali x #8

Hi Julia, had a tiny bit of snow, then sleet, yesterday, then that froze overnight. Doug says he struggled to get the car door open at 5.30 this morning. Brrrr! Love those oak blocks, wood is just so appealing to work with, isn't it? Look forward to the end result. Love the stamp, I NEED that in my life. :) Love & hugs, Shaz XXXX #7

Top of the morning to you...from frigid country. Winds subsided so maybe we can make it through today without too much turmoil. No outdoor activity for sure, everything is closed/cancelled. Will be fun to see your idea for the big blocks. Good door stops ! I'll but your words to good use Let the evening be Gin. Have a great week.

I wave to you from a white world (but the snow is already melting so it won't be long before it's all gone...) Gin would be very appropriate but since it's early, I stick with coffee. Good luck on the wooden blocks and have a lovely weekend (sounds a lot better than mine... I have a funeral to go to...) Happy woyww and love from Holland. Marit #18

We've had some snow, but it never lies for long - the salty air from the sea soon sees to that. I'm thinking those blocks of wood make great doorstops, prettied up or not. There's remnants of weekend scrapping on my desk too - just working up the enthusiasm to clear up! Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #23

Hi Julia, oh no snow here ( its been very mild here and they are claiming it might rain on friday) that is a curiosity to me of what you are going to do to those blocks, but I guess it depends on where/how you use them at home? my family has a few wood carvers in it so, my first thought was I had wondered if you were going to go that route with them. :) ~Stacy #504

Hello Julie and enjoying the posts. Never can keep up with what day it is. The little grey cells seem to be in permanent hibernation.
No posting by me. Health issues but getting my head organized and accepting what is is, is now underway and hopefully will soon participate with all the wonderful WOYWW players soon. Stay warm, it is 42 F today here. For us cold. HATE winter.

At first, I thought you were going to make a couple of bowls with that wood. We received a lovely hand turned one for Christmas. Hope you are staying warm. I can’t today. It’s only about 30, but it has been much colder elsewhere. I shouldn’t complain. Stitches came out of my foot today, but still must wear my boot! Happy Wednesday!
