What’s on your Workdesk? Wednesday

Not only scheduled, but put together on my phone, so please forgive if there are more than normal amounts of typos and nonsense that you can’t make sense of no matter how many times you read it! Anyway, to business…

I went to the Craft for Crafters fair at Farnborough last weekend. With the majority of The Coven. It’s about an hour away and we set off to get there not long after opening. It had a decent parking arrangement and unlike in previous years, was held in a dedicated exhibition space rather than a semi permanent tent with shuttering and metal flooring. Makes a difference in weather that can’t be guaranteed! Anyway’ it’s no longer a paper craft only show, there was plenty of all sorts to look at. As you can see, I’m trying new things. I bought a box of ribbons and stuff to make a wreath. The stand holder said if I could handle a glue gun, I could do the wreath no problem.you will of course hear about it! I bought a couple of heading kits to make a bracelet and necklace….intended to be a gift at the end of November. We’ll see. This purchase is ‘hot’ off the success I had last Christmas when I made each of The Coven a beaded star to hang on their trees. And swore that I would never do beading again!  It I have a magnifying lamp now, and hope springs eternal! Lastly, I did but some stamps; used from a Stampin Up! lady and a couple of new ones from Francoise Reade for Woodware. Well, new to me. Almost every paper craft stand was loaded with stencils and mediums and tools for stencilling. Some fab samples, and an amazing example of what goes around comes around if you ask me. You’ll know what I mean if you’ve been paper crafting for more than ten or fifteen years! Brother and Cricut had huge stands, as did Janome, which had me lusting after a new sewing machine that would take me the rest of my life to learn how to use, and to pay for….!

So with an eye on all things waiting to be put away, please show and tell as normal. I’m in foreign parts with very sketchy internet at the mo, so please bear with!

I am just about to go to bed, and saw that you'd posted early so am joining in. Am well impressed at you writing a post on your phone, and getting a photo added to it as well!
The crafters fair sounds good fun, add a good haul to boot! Happy WOYWW.

Good evening Julia! I hope the weather is good for you. It has been nice to sit out in the garden. I am quite envious of your trip to a craft show, that looks like a good haul. I can't complain because my husband treated me to new clothes two days ago. Enjoy your time away. Happy WOYWW. Angela #3

You keep getting earlier and earlier with your posts. I sure like the images of the Rise and Shine. They would be great for my T Tuesday posts.

Please tell me your secret of how you get your clear stamps to "restick" to the backing after you have used them the first time. That's one reason why I hate them so much. Good old wood mounted for me, thank you.

Congrats on using your phone to create this post, dear. I am in awe, especially since I still don't own a cell phone.

just going to bed and thought, maybe just maybe the link will be there and it was. YAY. Forgot to mention I'm doing a watercolour free class which starts tomorrow (wednesday) morning so I'll be busy first thing. The craft show sounds great, not been to one in many many years, probably as long ago so I'd not notice any changes LOL. Hugs BJ#6

It seems lots of the shows are giving way to other crafts rather than being paper dedicated. I must admit I don't enjoy going to shows any morle, well not as much as I used to back in the good old days. I think deming at them put me off for some reason.
Anyway, glad you enjoyed yourself and if you go with a gaggle of other ladies it makes it much more fun doesn't it.
Have a good week
Hugs, Neet xx7

How exciting. New projects. I really hope they are successful for you and you share so the rest of us learn too. Chaos reigns here for me but I’m sure it will all get done at some point πŸ€ͺ

Hi there. Hope you are having a fab time!
These days I always use phone for my blog post, would prefer lap top but had issues on it. I want to buy some beads for a project I have been thinking about- we will see. Years since I went to a Craft show. Last one was at NEC, didn't enjoy it. Too many people. Anne x

Well done at posting on your phone. Looks like you had a good time at the show. You're right of course that stuff comes round again but guess if you've not been crafting for long you wont have the stuff. Hope to see how you use some of it. Have a great woyww. Hugs, Angela x15x

I dunno, glue gun and ribbon makes me a tad nervous!! Good luck with that, and the beading - I don't think even a magnifier would help me with that!! You are so right that things come round again - being seeing some oriental lately as well. I am reminded that it's nearly a year since the last crop - how did that happen? Have a good week, love n hugs, Cindy xx

Happy WOYWW and hope you are enjoying whichever foreign parts you are in. Perhaps Wales? That is foreign enough for many! We go to car events at Farnborough (and stay at the wonderful hotel right next to the exhibition centre) and love the town. (We walk over to a small family-owned Italian restaurant in a back street - where we have learnt how to pronounce correctly all the words we have been pronouncing incorrectly for years!) Not been to a craft event for many years, but once we are in the Forest of Dean I will start going to the NEC again. Ali x #18

This seems to be a week of disappearing comments. So odd. Anyway, enjoy being where you are, although we have had such dismal weather here this summer it seems a shame to be away when it is actually warm (maybe a bit TOO) and dry and sunny. Ah well. The wreath sounds fun so don't skimp on the details! And enjoy the beading! LOL!

Happy sunny WOYWW!

HI Miss Julia
Sounds as if you had a fab time. I love going to those but thankfully, (or maybe not), I can find most everything at the live on-line sale I go to every Saturday with Spectrum Art Creations. lol. Bob's retirement is going to curb my shopping there. Darn it!

Look forward to seeing what you do with your new toys.

Wow! Sounds like a fantastic show! We used to have a similar craft show every year, but sadly it is long gone, and I just got the news yesterday that our only stamping/scrapbooking store in Kingston is closing it's doors as well. So sad. At least we still have Michael's, but their stamping aisle has depleted over the years. It looks like you have got enough new projects to keep you busy for awhile!
How does your magnifying light plug in? Mine uses a cord like we have on our phone, and the adapter gets hot, then the light goes out. Sometimes I can get half an hour or more, sometimes only a few minutes. Very frustrating, and I don't know how to fix it! Hopefully your works much better. I do love it when it's working! Have a great week, Lindart #20

Hope you’re having a good time in Spain and it’s not too scorchio like it is here, way too hot for me. The craft expo sounded fun to go to with your friends, sounds like you didn’t go too wild.
