Anyway, she decided she wanted to make an outfit for an upcoming wedding, and found a pattern online. As she was at home, made sense to get on with it. Good grief, downloading and printing a PDF pattern for a jacket and a pair of trousers takes time, patience, a lot of cutting and a ridiculous amount of tape! There was a magical irony about seeing her at my desk (for many hours, I might add), cutting and erm, sticking!
I don't know how much tape she used. But it took the better part of two days to put the patterns together. I'm definitely put off the PDF method for acquiring a pattern. Mind you, how often do I make any clothes nowadays! The real bonus of her work has been that she had to tidy my desk before use..and now it's empty tidy and waiting for me to make a mess! Please share and tell..this week I'm at home and have real internet. And it's raining, so actually, some things are normal!

on first glance i thought it was you at the desk... I hope her patience with the pattern pays off and the outfit is amazing at the end of the day.
I really hope that I can get to work before the rain arrives here, the forecast is not nice for today that's for sure!

Fun photo....and TAPE I chuckled a LOT.... I have been using Silver Duct Tape each morning and evening on my knee...it keeps the tissue together and actual healing has started, got rid of the brace and sometimes wrap or use a pull on support, but for lots of walking its TAPE....The Country fairs here have been so sun, lots of new ideas and good foods. ! FALL IS IN THE AIR AND TREES ARE TURNING COLOR. ENJOY a great weekend...Forecast for rain thru Monday here. BUT we NEED it.
Well, that tape hmas certainly got to the "I am going to need a new one" stage. I thought it was you at first, gosh she is her mother's daughter. So she used sheets of A4 paper and stuck them together to make the pattern? Oh my, what a task.

Awwww. So sweet to see Miss Dunnit so engrossed. Doesn't she look like you! I will say printable patterns are easier with an A3 printer, as you may expect, and I once had some tool ... forget the name! - that would let you print a larger piece as A4 with overlapping shadow areas to make the assemble much easier. Too late for all that NOW, but maybe for the future? Lovely to have her home I imagine, despite the massive amounts of tape she used...

I hope you had an inward chuckle seeing Miss D voluntarily sitting at the desk. I’ve printed off patterns like that and they are a pain in the derrière, never again. Hope you two have fun making up the outfit though, you’ll have to share the end result.

Oh my goodness, acquiring a jacket pattern from the internet to print yourself and tape together, I can just imagine the amount of tape and it wouldn't be on tissue like a proper pattern either, oh my. Lovely that your desk was used by Miss D though and you got it tidied into the bargain. The little green tin jumped out at me, never seen one of those before??? My son has been known to grab blank cards and pens/pencils and draw his own cards now and again, he's coming home for the weekend tonight too yippee. Glad things are back to "normal", the temperature is indeed more suitable for me right now. Hugs BJ#12

I have a daughter who needs several rolls of tape for one parcel . . . in fact we bought her a wholesale box of Sellotape one Christmas as a fun present . . . she was not amused!!

I'd never thought of acquiring a clothing pattern on line. Interesting. I think I'll stick to digitals for crafting ;-) Please share how the outfit comes out.

I've toyed with the idea of trying such patterns, and have relented, and you've offered me some validation in my avoidance. That's not to say I won't try such a pattern one day.

That was quite a challenge for her! Hope you have some tape left! As you said, at least you got a nice clean desk out of the deal! I hope she shares the outfit when she's done! Sadly mine will only stay on for 5 minutes at a time and the supplier won't get back to me, so I've put a new one on my Christmas list which looks a lot like yours!

Good luck to you and Miss Dunnit with the pattern, Julia. In our family it was always my M- I- L who was the demon with sticky tape. I’m using the olive wood hook at present as it’s a better size for this blanket but the zebrano feels lovely too.
