What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 754

The Kathys went through my Christmas stamps and in doing so reminded me that I have some beauties. And even better for me, most of the real beauties are wood mounts. I've spent a few hours making and enjoying. The spread out pieces had glitter glue drying. It's been a couple of days now so am guessing it will all be dry.....
Before I garnered the strength to cut out more houses, I made a batch of other cards - the stack with green envelopes you can see...very simple, but I hope, effective. If I remember, I'll show a proper view of one at some point. The paper piecing was a bit tedious, but the cutting was done whilst on the phone to the many people I've been in touch with in the last ten days or so, so that part was more productive than just sitting about cutting! I shan't repeat this idea though, incredibly time consuming and as I've mentioned before, really rather heavy on the embossing powder. A lovely image though, happy to have it in my collection. Not to be doom and gloom about it all, because I love making cards, but I also realised that if I post them, they will qualify as 'large letter' which is another consideration these days, huh.
So now, please expect me when you see me; going to Portsmouth today to see my sissy. If it miraculously stays dry, it might be quite nice!

The cards look amazing, but as you say, postage being what it is, not cheap to send! Hope the trip to Portsmouth stays dry for you and you enjoy the time with your Sissy. Happy WOYWW Helen xx

Posting to the UK from Australia has become very expensive although there is still the cheaper Christmas post. But cards have to be small, thin and light!! It has made a difference to my card designs!
You seem to be making a good pile there though...

Good morning Julia. Enjoy your day with your sister. Your cards are amazing, postage is expensive for the large letter, I only use that size for people I can hand deliver to. Happy WOYWW. Angela #4

Hi Julia, card design looking nice. I don't even put anything chunky on mine anymore as even that can send it over the size. Hope you have a lovely day, weather looks okay here so far. Wishing you a very happy woyww, Angela x11x

Morning!! I am so sad I bought my stamps for Christmas with the new barcodey thingy before the postage went up. Nobody will be getting a missive from me with Charlie's head on for a while. Is that 'Peace' a stamp? It's huge!! I am expecting a lot of desks will be Christmassy today, I guess the countdown has really begun now. Have a nice trip to Portsmouth!! Love n hugs, Cindyxx

Sorry my first link was wrong hence 2 entries! Those cards look lovely, i know what you mean about the paper piercing though really time consuming. Must admit because of the post thats why i tend to no longer use foam mounts! Enjoy Pompey (where i used to work and live) the weather is meant to be lovely

Happy WOYWW. Hope you have had a happy and dry day in Portsmouth. Your Christmas cards look very professional. I have an item on my very unrushed To Do List to go through my Christmas stash box, see how many charity cards I have left over from last year and then get them in envies. I think I will probably have enough, but might make special ones for my Mum, one of our friends (who loves my cards) and hubby. Don't send many out now anyway. Ali x #17

Beautiful cards! I love the black cards and the gorgeous embossing! I'm in the trial and error part of making my cards, hopefully will hit on a winner that I can mass produce! Have nice visit today! Lindart #18

Looking forward to seeing your card in close up at some time. Meanwhile the houses look lovely - is the cardstock grey or white? I was going to do some grey ones but the white ink I have didn't turn out as good as I hoped so it went on the back burner.
Here's hoping you had a lovely day with your sister, nothing better than meeting up with a loved one.
Hugs, Neet xx7
