What’s On Your a Workdesk? Wednesday 608

So as not to induce shock, I haven’t over tidied. And the stuff on my desk is actually related to crafting, so that’s not too bad. The tall tube with a red lid is an ex-tube of jellybeans. I altered it. By eating the jellybeans and then filling the tube with brads and metal embellishments. I needed them to complete another scrapbook challenge, it’s been an age since I used brads and such; it was good to use up some genuine stash -as in stashed away and forgotten!  There’s also a couple of pieces of Basic Grey paper on my desk. I had three, used one and resisted even cutting into either of the others. Phew, my diminishing Basic Grey collection lives for another day of admiration and scaring me to death for being so patterned! On top of them is a roll of 5mm foam tape. Generous thickness, big roll, great value - but quite difficult to use without pushing out the middle in handling. But I’ll persevere, being cheap isn’t always easy. I see two pairs of scissors which is really quite conservative after a desk session, I think.  Just look at the state of my scraps tray at the top of the trolley. I use so much of them now, but a tidy is due, it does help when you can actually see what’s available!
Join me do, in showing, telling, confessing......put WOYWW in your post title and link here for our viewing and reading pleasure please!

I know what you mean about special papers Julia. You have to get more than one so you can continue the stroking and admiring. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3

I am glad you haven#t over-tidied! we would think something seriously wrong...I admire the sacrifice you made with your tube of jelly beans, all in the cause of art!! Take care and stay safe. Helen xx

It’s a tough gig but someone’s got to do it....eating the jelly beans I mean! I remember you waxing lyrical about Basic Grey papers and had forgotten that they were your favourites so well done for actually using some! At what point does a scrap become unusable? I’ve gone past keeping fabric bits and pieces, they’ll never get used!

I wondered what you were on about with your hard to handle foam tape until I realised you were talking about the big circle! That is a seriously large roll of tape!! I've been using foam squares this week and find myself using them in an orderly fashion after your post last week. So easily influenced... Brads, I have a million of them!! and a similar amount of the things you squish with the cropodile (seeing yours reminded me). I don't think I ever managed to 'set' a straight one. Good for you for getting out your fancy papers - I nearly had palpitations when I saw my daughter had cut into my set of tapestry papers from MME. Ridiculous, it is, after all, what they are designed for. Have a good week, love n hugs Cindy xx

I used to adore Basic Grey - still have a couple of pieces but I cannot use the in case I run out. Good quality stuff and lovely designs.
It's a twofer twinning as I have been using brads and eyelets recently - remember the circle cards the other week. Was proud of myself for using the at last - I have zillions!
Keep using the stuff to remind me and get me to use.
Hugs, Neet 9 xx

How is it that it is Wednesday again?
I have decided I just have to use my papers rather than just look at and stroke them!
I have had to eat boxes of chocolates for the boxes...

I love that you altered something by eating the contents....best way :-)
I think I've got some brads somewhere but really not sure what I would use them for now....guess they will get used up by the grandies when they are allowed to come to play again.
Hugs,

Ah Brads, I have a substantial collection still and rarely use also, plus eyelets and what are those other metal round things, Oh I remember grommets! I guess that's my challenge for my next page then!!! Some not all though!

Basic Grey, love their plain papers and understand the patterned scenario. Have they gone out of business?

Oh and the roll of tape with a small middle, would you believe I have only just realised why the middles are usually so BIG? So you can put your hand through it whilst applying it - Doh! How long have I been crafting! Oh my life!

Added - "during scrapping" photos today so you can at least see my desk "in action" LOL - had to tidy away for my church zoom session in the evening as we've started an Alpha course. BJ#11

Sadly I was a bit of a hoarder with special papers and now hardly use them so I've decided I need to find a way of using some of them but I have a plan Lol! All those brad things hot loads of those too. I think I need to ban myself from looking at anything new.....No it wont work but I must try. Have a lovely creative woyww, Angela x18x

Oh Yum jelly beans! In that case I've been altering loads of things! Mostly Pringle tubes... Crunchy Nut Cornflakes packets, broken biscuit boxes, egg boxes, Loo Rolls. Nuff said... I have two trollys, Ikea and Hobby Craft, Hubby didn't think to leave enough room under my bench to use them for my crafty stuff. And if I just rolled them in, I wouldn't be able to get in. I usually have two or three of everything, coz I know I'm going to lose them somewhere. Your desk is an inspiration! and I'm right there with you (I should hide!)Have a great week! Stay Safe. Have you got a glue stick on that desk of yours I could nick, otherwise I’ll have to nip out and pay for one.
Enjoy your week Julia and thanks for keeping us all going.

I have more paper than I know what to do with. I think I'd get it used if I could just disengage from social media! Some are definitely designed just for stroking though, I think!

Ooh yes i am guilty in the past of hoarding special papers. One positive of the past year and not being able to go into town or shows means i am slowly working my way through my stash (though it doesn't look like it in my room)! Yep agree 2 pairs of scissors isnt many at all for a session!

Happy Wednesday! That huge roll of tape made me laugh - I saw a lady at a retreat with one once and she got her hair caught on it. It prompted a conversation about random incidents where things had become stuck in strange places, which I tell you about when I next see you IN PERSON. Now I'm off to alter a box of chocolates... ;-) Lisa-Jane x #10

Hi Julia,
I s’pose I could’ve put a beach photo as my desk photo today as that’s where I went straight after linking over .. ‘twas a wonderful swim too, lovely temp as quite hot about 30c max today, so a swim definitely a refresher, but don’t manage it that often as it time consuming... however shared a desk from two days ago, it hadn’t seen any crafting today.
Out all afternoon amd I don’t function in morning. Love your desk, it’s always so reassuring. My room is a right tip, not just the desk as cleaning day was public holiday for Aust day so no service, and mean I. Could luxuriate a bit longer in my mess!
Thanks for sharing, and God bless, Shaz in Oz.x #5

Oops. I don't know how but I seem to have missed out commenting on you this morning. I am at the end of the list (so far) and I only just realized! I have a large BOX of Basic Grey and it takes a lot to make me cut in to it, I love it so much. That, and both Bisous Zoo papers, and Rouge de Garance - spelling may be questionable on those. I still take them out to stroke every now and again but this year I am determined to use them somehow. Not sure how yet but I will.

And only TWO scissors? What's wrong? Are you OK? :P

Happy WOYWW - NOT at the hospital today but with a thumping headache yet determined to WOYWW nonetheless! Best day of my week…

Happy WOYWW. Your trolley reminds me that I have one on my Amazon wish list, and need to gently remind my family of that - in preparation for my birthday next month. I only have a few brads left now, but always loved using them. They will be back in ‘paper crafting fashion’ soon! Ali x. #26

HI Julia, your desk looks JUST like mine when I'm mid-project - I love showing my hubby pics like yours and saying, "see? it's not just me!" :) All good altered pieces start by eating the contents - one of my faves was camembert box, also a multi-layered chocolate box ... it's a challenge, but that's what beig creative is all about! I still have some gorgeous Basic Grey papers, and a few others you can't get any more, but I am starting to work through them now. Aso have millions of brads and eyelets, but they're getting used up now in altered books and journals - I think they're due for a revival! Have a great week. Annie C #27

Hi Julia! I love to look at all my paper (and not use it too!) I get it ~ I've inherited so much now though that I NEED to use it as I can't figure out how to store it all. Yes, it's a good problem to have. Happy Crafting! Enjoy the rest of the week ~ Love, Karen (I'll be somewhere in the #30's by the time I post today!)

The snow's gone!!!
Love that roll of tape ... wouldn't fit on my desk!
Did I tell you the snow's gone!
I am in a state of excitement here what with being able to get to the chickens without breaking my neck and waiting for my NEW MACHINE . . and the snow's gone . . .
Have a good week

Julia, I think your desk looks GREAT all things considered, but how good of you to stay consistent with your tidiness! LOLOLOL JELLYBEANS ARE MY FAVE!! I love love them, but ONLY Jelly Belly Jellybeans. Not the "fake" ones!! That tube would have lasted about a New York minute in my presence!! Don'tcha just love your trolley? I don't know what I would do without mine. It's the best thing someone ever thought of!! LOL I love your paper stash. Mine looks like that, but tucked away VERY untidy like in a drawer! Probably have more than I will ever use in that thing! I'm cheap too or is it frugal? Let's go with the last one! LOL So, like you, whatever comes with that, bring it on! Take care and stay safe and healthy! Felicia #28

Hi Julia, sorry - I forgot to comment when I linked up! I do keep looking at those trolleys, I could definitely use them - just don't have the room. Which means my scraps are all out of sitght, so don't get used! I'm going to try to get in the habit of doing some weekly scrapbooking (once my family tree is completed) so I will try and use my scraps up then. I don't hold out much hope! Maybe I should just concentrate on recycling/upcycling - and order a few tubes of jelly beans ... that's a much better idea!! Have a lovely week, hugs Heather xx#21

Hi Julia, there's not much difference to be seen between your desk and mine ... it's denial ... the entire and awful truth would be just too much. I admire your strength of purpose - eating the jelliybeans was a great sacrifice to make to provide storage for your brads. Oh, and 'being cheap isn't always easy' sounds like something Dolly Parton would say. Have a great crafty week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #30

I am totally grinning from ear to ear Julia, I keep my 12" papers inside these translucent pocket type envelopes mostly sorted by color. but, there is one pocket that is just Basic Grey. and I save even the tiniest scraps of it for tags or tiny die cuts and things. :) (so you are in good company) my scrap bucket needs sorted out again too. it turned into a dump bucket in the last few weeks. ~Stacy #33

I love the idea of sorting scraps into colour schemes but I don't have enough storage...... yet 😉

I even see a bit of bare desk! What’s up with that?
Do you like your CC cutter? I sent mine back! It didn’t fulfill all the promises. The strips I cut were not perfect! One end wider than the other!
Love your Rollie Cart! I have a Raskog too! Has all my calligraphy things in it, all corralled in one place!

Stay safe and well! We’ve had snow too but melts by end of day.

Happy Wednesday!

Am I,the only one not to have a single sheet of Basic Grey- I take it it’s not all grey? I have a stack of £3.99 paper because I thought it would be better for practicing, but I got a bit carried away. I have been doing midwife duties with my daughter’s dog - 4 boy puppies.

Hi Julia! I can definitely relate to special papers, like Basic Grey, and mine personal fav 7-Gypsies. I love them but rarely use them in case I use them up! You look like you have been much busier than I have been. It is a great idea to have all your scraps nearby so they can be used. Good use of the Jelly bean tube! Have a great week, Lindart #34

So Hi Julia, I haven't been around for a while...so I checked and it was Jan 2016 and I've been thinking of you all over there in the UK and lockdowns and remembered WOYWW and the lovely ladies and I see you are still going strong. Time flies, we did house renovations and two grand daughters to help out with day care and now this week they're both at school, so I'm thinking that I still spend a lot of time at my desk and that it's timely to join in again. Being creative sure does keep one busy and our minds off other things... so hope to see me back, great to see you're still crafting, take care RobynO
