Fearless, Shameless

This fearless Seagull knows no shame. He was begging, for sure. His staring match with Mr Dunnit was a giggle enducer - probably the cocktails that three of us were drinking made it funnier.....

Seriously, this chap stood his ground on the pavement outside the restaurant and just stared and stared. It was a Mexican restaurant and we did consider going out and giving him a couple of jalapenos to try, but that would really be cruel, after all, they were making my mouth burn! The restaurant was very busy and the pavement and road were not without users, but he stood his ground. It's fair to say that seagulls have long been considered a nuisance. You gotta wonder why we don't eat them....I mean that would really solve the problem, right? Well, apparently, way back in Medieval days, we did eat them. But you don't need camouflage or a sense of the danger of humans when you taste so salty you're inedible, right?

Being near the sea, we have loads of gulls about. A pair have nested between some chimneys over the road. As soon as their eggs hatched they got very protective and dive bomb passers by. The girls and I have had them swooping low:)

Hope you have a fab Friday. Sue

I learned something new today. Had NO idea gulls were edible, or that they tasted salty. A wealth of information can be found on your blog, dear friend.

I too had no idea they used to be eaten. As you say, could solve any food shortages! We've even got loads of them up here, in the Midlands! No sea for at least 50 miles. xxx

...if you do feed them, dozens more of the greedy things appear out of nowhere to beg!!

Tea Tuesday ATC mailed to you 7/22/15. From my local P.O. will be interesting to see how long arrival takes!

So when you say the three of you were drinking cocktails, would that be you, Mr. Dunnit and the seagull? hee hee He is quite bold that one.

What a cheeky chap - you should have taken a photo of Mr D as well so that we could see them both in the stand off.

He looks quite harmless. There have been lots of recent news items about what a pest gulls are becoming. A quick gulp of cocktail is probably all they need! x Jo

This post has me stifling giggles. It's like your stream of thought came right out of your fingers on to the keyboard :D It's the " why don't we just eat them?" that set me off :D Brilliant.
