What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 578

I have two blog posts on the burner. I was going to blog in between Wednesdays, but *pouf* the week disappeared!  Good grief. I’ve managed some in-between stuff this week. You can see that I’ve employed some of the gnomes - again, trying to use up card blanks inherited from Mary and scrapbooking scraps. Mary left me a lot of coloured cards. I favour white, really, so it’s a challenge! I’ve been able to stamp some particularly pertinent sentiments on the cards thanks to a great clear set that Kathy sent me. It’s a collaboration between stamp companies to fund COVID related charities. It’s a great set. The large unmounted floral stamp is a declaration of intent. I have a birthday card to make and this will be perfect if I can get what’s in my head onto paper. If it works, of course, I’ll show you, if it doesn’t, well I’ll probably whine at you. There’s a lot on the desk, and stories for all of it. See that lovely new girly stamp on the iPad stand? A gift, for which I thank you Soojay, I love her. I’m going to end up with an army of these characters, I just know it! Here’s a few more gnomes before I sign off and ask you to share some real inspiration:
And perlease tell me that you’re reading and pronouncing the word as gernomies...its not just me is it?!
Show and tell please - you know you want to. Need to. Have to...it keeps the world balanced. HA!

Morning Julia. Fun little g'nomes - yep - that's how I have said it for years! Thanks for shopping for me - hope you get to see the result on a good big screen!
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

Nope, I do not pronounce it like you but I do say, and did whilst reading, "Genomies" - see I have an N at the beginning and not an M. Am I forgiven it is not that far off your pronunciation?
I see you have become, or are going to become, a fan of Janet Klein's delightful characters. I love the girls and boys and am sorely tempted. Perhaps when the coffers recover from all the spending I have done with Tracy's stamps! They are not bad at 6.99 a pot so I think I will succumb before long. It is all that Soojay's fault for making such a beautiful book out of them in the beginning.
Love your genomies (have told it to add it to my dictionary) and am so pleased that you had the same intention as I had of posting between posts, if you get what I mean. Maybe before next week we both will. Trouble is I sent the cards I made before I scanned them so it would have been difficult anyhow.
Have a great week and bee awesome!
Hugs, Neet 5 xxxx (extra for intentions)

Yes in our family they were always gernomies and that's how I pronounce the word when I see it. Just like Elephants are always Heffalumps in our family. ANi

The AALL & Create characters are fab what a lovely thought from Soojay..

Well in this Ozzie family it was always Gggnomes.... our children had such a hard time with the "g". The cards are a delight just like the little gernomies. Have a lovely crafty week.

The gernomies are gorgeous....just what I needed to brighten up a cold, damp gloomy day (just the weather not me lol). I have two gernomies in our garden, one the kids bought their dad cos they said it looked like him (I’m not commenting!) and the other is a very old stone one of my dad’s (I paint him up most years and he’s called Albert after my dad πŸ˜€).
Hope you’re having a good week. Sending you lots of love and hugs,
Annie x

Does it count if I say guh-nomes? I love them anyway! Their little faces are so full of character. Can you tell us more about the Covid collab stamps please? I'd like to support where I can, purely altruistic of course... (looks over shoulder...hides under cloak...exits stage left...) Have a lovely week Lisa-Jane #15

Morning Julia, I have some coloured card blanks, just small ones, and no idea what to do with them, but you have inspired me. I will probably completely forget that you have inspired me, and they will stay in my drawer for many more months, but for now, thank you! A big thank you also for your card. It arrived after I had posted/commented last week, so I tried to send you an email through your blog, but I am never completely sure that they dont end up in junk email! The Covid collab stamps look a great set - do you have a link to them? Never heard gnomes pronounced like that ... I'm with Neet its (g)nomes for me with 'N'. Maybe it's a Northern lass thing? Lol. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #16

Happy WOYWW. Hope it is less grey with you. Gnomes are purely 'nomes' in my world, but I love them anyway. A local shop sells a good selection (which feature strongly in his Facebook videos - they have names!) and I keep meaning to go up there and choose a couple for my collection. I love those coloured card blanks. Makes it easy to make up a good selection of cards. Ali x #18

I love the G'nomes! Just chuckling at Annie's comment re who hers remind her of - small, rounded and bald (minus the pointy hat tho) yes that's them alright!! Totally lovable all. The cards are fab Julia - certainly made me smile. xx Jo #19

I cannot believe that it is Wednesday again!!
I too would be interested in the collab stamp link if there is one... have been very worried about my family in the UK. To cut a long story short my elderly parents seem to have beaten Covid...
Love looking at your desk - so much to see - I like Janet Klein images...

Well my 1st comment hasn't appeared. So will try again ..I really love your cards. The little gnomes and your vibrant colors speak to me. I had to Google
The plural form of gnomes is gnomai
Noun[edit]
gnomess (plural gnomesses)
1. A female gnome.
I can deal with your version of Gnome gernomies but it isn’t on google ~~
I am the generation of adjustments. Slowly losing my mind these days. My blog did post and I may return to slumber land. Have a great day and Happy WOYWW.

Pronouncing is quite difficult sometimes - Ge-noooommmss is how I say it lol but I rather prefer the Danish version Nisser(neesseerrr)I think I have a few myself somewhere. I am back to "normal" concerning my art - as far as in this moment I have no lack of inspiration. Thank goodness. 😊
Your cards are fantastic to look at. I am sure the people that receive your cards simply love them. 😊

Thanks for your sweet words at my blog - I treasure them!!

Thank you so much for sharing!

I think you have done well with the coloured card blanks, I like to use them now and again over the white or craft ones I mostly use. Well saying mostly, I only card make when required these days and that's not much, so making my hubby's birthday card rolled the boat out this week LOL.
Sorry to disappoint but a gnome is just a nome to me and a few are just nomes. Eeeek. BJ#23

Hello Julia. I will comment on your desk later. Just wanted to say that I hope it was ok to post what I have this week. I have known some of you for a long time and spoken many times re my mum. She was always supportive of my crafting and would say that my dad would be so proud of me :-) so thought that I would include her today. x Anne 25

Love, love, love the gnomes (I think it's pronounced gernome, not gernomie, but then that could just be because no-one learned me the proper pronunciation). Love the dark floral background too - it has a very retro vibe.
The stamp looks potentially rather glorious, so I feel the finished article should definitely be shared, with or without whining.
Have a wonderful week.:-)

g'Morning Julia, I love how happy and cheerful the gnomes look on those fun colors. ( I tend to make my card bases colored and line them with white inside so, that looks normal to me I guess) :) I love how much light is in your space today too. I think in the grand scheme of things an army of cute people to play with is not a bad thing. ( so says the chick whose space is nearly bursting at the seams and still shops hahaha) ~Stacy #31

Good morning! Or maybe it's the afternoon for you now. Crazy time zones! I am lovin' those gnomes. They are so cute. I never really thought about it but I mostly make white card bases. Although I do like kraft card bases. Your cards came out lovely as usual. It's pouring here and we really need it for the plants and trees. But my hair does not need high levels of humidity for days on end. I am getting frizzier as the day goes on. I think I will visit some desks this morning before I start work. Then I will spread out my snooping over the next 4 days. I need to work on more cards. I want to re-open my etsy shop by the beginning of September but very nervous. I have been closed long and I hope I can find some customers again. I will let you know when I re-open so you can see it. Well I better go heat up my tea (for the 3rd time) and getting to snooping. Have a wonderful week and stay well, my friend.
hugs,

Hi Julia! Love the Gnome cards (we pronounce "Nomes" with a silent g), I also usually use white cards, but the coloured ones are nice! Your desk is a lovely shade of creativity today! Have a great week, Lindart #34

I, too, prefer white cards/cardstock and think you did a great job using the colored ones! I have no idea how to read/say 'gnomes' but if you like, you could try saying 'kabouter' (the Dutch word) Whatever they are called, I love those little creatures on your desk!
