What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 568

I hope those of you operating in another time zone or actually having to work to a time frame here can forgive me, it’s currently 8am and I’m only just starting my post! I’ll keep it brief!
The right hand end view. At least it gives you some idea of the situation. LOTS of light and the remainder of the patio that is still a building site but I’m slowly reclaiming it. I’ve got, plenty of light (!) at this desk and because it’s actually in our lounge, we’ve already learned to ignore the mess. So you can see my Options bin, which gives evidence that I’ve been crafting, and the little pot of unused die cuts that I put on cards etc seems to have emptied itself. They are a bit difficult to wrangle into any order...I must store them flat really. Or use them! I tidied after having the plastic boxes open and strewn about yesterday, so any productivity doesn’t show. The red basket contains my Bramble Fox collection of acrylic words, sayings etc, called Perspextives. I was a monthly subscriber but had to stop when they started to get the better of me. Now I enjoy having them at hand but they don’t appear on every LO anymore. At least that part of my formula has changed!
I hope you’re keeping well and able to observe lockdown without too much difficulty. I know we’re very much at a geographic disadvantage, but if you need company, you can find it here, just say the word and one or all of us will work out how to connect with you, seriously. And comically too - I’ve experienced a lot of ‘can you hear me now’ and ‘can you see me now’ type conversations in the last month!
Join in here as well please....show and tell as usual. Put WOYWW in your post title and link here.

have to say I was getting worried but kept the home web up and running so I could keep checking! Lovely that you can write your post in daylight live! I have been ignoring mess for years but lately am noticing dust... might even crack out a duster and some polish if this goes on much longer!! take care and will catch up more later. xx

Yep, video conversations never seem to work out quite the way you want do they Julia? Glad you're here, I was starting to get a little concerned, but you are allowed a lie in and it means I have got some school work done already. Hope to see some of the projects you've been working on soon. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #6

Morning Julia. Loving the idea that the family are getting used to you being in the lounge... and not noticing the mess. I suppose that's one advantage of being here on my own most of the time - I can get as messy as I want! Hope you have had a bit of a lie-in this morning.
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

I just thought you were testing us and I knew soon as I went for my shower you would pop up. Love getting up these sunny mornings, you seem to be more full of life and energy and more gets done. Well, in my head!
Love the amount of light you have, that is one thing I miss in my craft room but the room I have spread into (where the die cuts are (they are Tando shapes) is lovely and sunny. Too sunny at times and I could do with shades on.
Love your busy desk and the fact that you don't mind, at the moment, what state it is in - same here - nobody coming so nobody can see it. I am leaving the bran flakes out now instead of reaching up for them in the pull out larder every day and risking putting a strain on my shoulder again.
Hugs, Neet 5 xx

Good morning Julia - lovely day here - and there I think! Good to see your workspace well used. My messiness spreads from sewing room to lounge and occasionally into the kitchen - we like to spread the love don't we. Hope you are keeping well and enjoying the calmness of lockdown. xx Jo #9

Happy WOYWW. Firstly, delete my post from No.567. I didn't notice until it was too late that I was actually adding my post to last week's! My comment for last week still stands, but I will add now that it is wonderful to have these lighter days/evenings. Although it does show up cobwebs/dust/animal hair, the windows are dirty after last week's rain and our gloss kitchen cupboards are requiring daily polishing (I obsessively hover with a cloth whenever I am in there!). A painful flare of rib pain means that I am being very careful as to how I move about/lifting etc, so very little housework is being carried out. I treated myself to a new lightweight cordless hoover, so I can whizz around gathering dirt when I feel the inclination. Dog needs feeding now and it will soon be time for my breakfast (and sitting down to watch thingamyjig's craft programme on Channel 4 from yesterday - it is on at 5 pm each day this week, and I am busy at that time of day!). I seem to be watching a lot of crafting at the moment, but not producing much myself. Ali x #1 (Never happened before, I don't think?)

Options bin...!! now that gives a warm ((Hug)) from the very start. Lovely bright morning shot of your desk Julia, i've been living with that kind of craft area for years in my kitchen it was beginning to all get somewhat sorted when my Daughter left for Sweden and I took over her room but now she's back until the world is a safer place it's all creeping back into the kitchen, i'm beginning to love all that MESS again !!
I'm very thankful we can meet up at your place Julia, although I can not make it every week there have been times it's been my safe place...
Take care of you and yours and stay very very safe Hugs Tracey xx

That's such a lovely position for your desk, and loads of natural light. I would love a corner of the living room for my craft, it can sometimes feel quite solitary crafting away on my own upstairs!
Hope you have a good week and stay safe, well and creative.

Only just woken up, Julia, so I wasn’t aware of your late arrival this morning! You do have a nice bright place for your desk. It doesn’t look messy to me - it looks really organised. I’m intrigued by the Perspextives you mention - never heard of them before!

Happy WOYWW,

Hi Julia, the timing's good for me well actually any timing as long as you're here it's a bit of sanity in a very confused world at the moment. Looks like you've been busy but a bit of mess isn't something we crafters worry about though my desk seems unusually tidy at the moment and that is more worrying but as you know I have been busy moving into the new cabin so that's my excuse. Have a lovely crafty week and happy woyww, Angela 17x

I only just remembered that it was Wednesday too! lots of lovely light in your room - knowing that no one is coming in - i have stopped worrying about the state of the house too =- I am cleaning and tidying but just not fanatic about it ( except washing every bit of post and shopping ha ha).

It's amazing how quickly we can get used to the mess and not notice it after a while. That Opitons bin is ripe for alteration! The acrylic words sound intriguing - if I did scrapbooking, I would definitely want to use them and I'm sure they could be used in mixed media as well. But even more intriguing is: how to make your own? Hmm, resin in a mould? You got me going there LOL! Happy lockdown Julia - we might as well enjoy it if we can! xx zsuzsa #20

When home is your little world you stop noticing anything I've found. The housework doesn't get done any more regularly than it did and we are all creating mess on the dining table with various projects and no one cares. It must be teaching us something.
Have a good week and stay safe

I wondered why there were so few when I first checked in this morning!! Lovely busy desk and nice and bright - what mess lol? Those pesky die cuts, yes flat would probably be good but like everything else out of sight out of mind. I'm behind today already - just had to rescue an elderly friend who had managed to lock herself out. Good job I have spare keys and its only a few minutes drive away!! Happy WOYWW Cindy xx

I missed it! I was ready at 8 and no Julia - had to crack on with work and getting Alex to do some school work. Very relieved to hear that you are well. Loving the neater desk and the sun shining on it. Happy WOYWW. Stay safe and well. With love and God Bless. Caro x (#25)

The greens in front of your window looks like the sun is shining outside (it is overhere) which makes things easier and lighter to take isn't it?! I love your box with 'perspextives' - I do make scrap layouts again lately and I miss 'titles' - I do still have a lot of cardboard alphabeth/letters, what's the name, but the E's are all missing, and before you come up with tricks: there's no 3's either :D
Hope you have a lovely day dear. Love-from-a-distance, Marit #27

Hi Julia, great to have so much daylight for crafting in. My desk is side on to my window,so plenty of good light, right up until the sun hots a certain position, then I can't see a damn thing and the blind has to come down!Well done on writing your blog first thing, my brain doesn't work at that time of day, lol. I'd spend an hour re-spelling everything. Love & hugs, stay safe both, Shaz #11 XxXxx

I sleep with my walkman plugged in (stops my tinnitus) and it was David Suchet who woke me up this morning - what! he doesn't come on until 09.00! Didn't notice you were late! lol
Love that you are able to see your garden as you craft, I am upstairs so only really see trees... and this fabulous black stemmed bamboo which waves at me ....
What are the perspectives, or whatever? Never heard of them but they sound intriguing.... maybe we need a post about them....
Have a good week and stay safe

Good morning, Miss Julia.
For those die cuts you need to wrangle, what about separating them in slipping into the photo sleeves of a little brag book. At least that way you can see what you have at the flip of a page. Let me know if you can't get those there and I'm happy to pop a couple in the mail. I understand about stopping subscriptions. Though once I've used all of the items from my cardmaking & papercrafts subscriptions at least once then I may start it again. I miss their exclusive sets and all the ideas. Creative Blessings! Good Morning Julia, ah I am one of those people who cleans when they are upset so, when I look at the mess ( here ) I think to my self isn't it great to be happy. ha ha. Love the light pouring into your space. we are going to have a rare rainy day here ( but, so far only have the clouds and gloom) Little diecuts are hard, I have an old jello mold with some for sentiments (blank tag type shapes) on my desk and they I have a chance of using some because, they are not tucked away. I really do play with what ever is in front of me so, they stay out. Have a good week! ~Stacy #33

Yes the different time zones makes life awkward doesn't it. I for one wasn't waiting for your post because I thought it was Tuesday :) The days seem to get confused or is that just me! It is lovely to have natural light when crafting, and lovely that you can carry on crafting despite the upheaval. Have a great week x Angela # 38

Hi Julia, that's certainly a nice light place to craft. My craft rooms goes from being dark and a bit gloomy in the morning, to full on sunshine in the afternoon, so glaring I have to pull the blind down. I'm still not spending much time in there out of office hours, so I might have a look at a tray or small table for the lounge, so I can craft in the evenings - when we are not in the summerhouse enjoying the last rays of the sun. I'm fed up of conference calls and virtual meetings - it's what I spend most of the day doing. Have a lovely week and stay safe, Heather xx #28

There was some Journalling on my queen for a day page, written on patterned paper so a bit difficult to see in a photo. Our pastor's wife invited a few of us ladies round to watch the royal wedding at her house. I took my wedding dress.

I am almost enjoying the lockdown as there are so many little jobs and crafty pursuits I can loose myself for hours. Looks like your desk has a lovely view of anything happening in the garden. Fiddly die cuts that get tangled drive me to distraction. All mine were filed away and are still there in a die cut slumber.

Thank you for your visit, Julia, and I’m glad you liked my little drawings and our fun garden umbrella! After so many years of indecision about getting one because they were so expensive, we are so glad we did it in the end! We just love it. We are all (kitties included) enjoying this lockdown period, and are very grateful that our own situation allows this to be the case - I know that so many people are much less fortunate than we are. I love your remark about the original Distress Inks being in 7 shades of wee-wee!!! Lol! Hilarious! Given his head, Tim Holtz will always go for grunge, but he’s astute enough to realise that there are other tastes out there, too, and he certainly made the right decision in giving us such a magnificent range of colours. I agree, those browns are so great for distressing and ageing.

To be honest Julia you deserve humungous bouquets for posting at 8am let alone 6am. Thank you so much for weekly restoring s sense of normal.. and answering emails when I give a cooee, too!! ❤❤❤

Hi Julia,
Sorry for the belated visit, it takes me an age to properly visit all the desks! I always envy you that little desk, absolutely flooded with light, and with it being situated in the lounge you can still be part of whatever else is going on too. My knitting tends to colonise areas of the house where we spend time together, but the workdesk is out on a limb by itself. Nice when I want to be in a world of my own, but not so good when family want me around!
Have a good week.
