Bubbles and blobs. Blobbles, then.
On my workdesk post last week - indeed, on my last post, I had a sheet of vellum with loads of drips on it. This is what I did with it. Funny hting, vellum, it's non absorbent and without a grain, so it never quite behaves as you think it should. I like it. For this, I dripped two colours of alcohol ink onto it. That's all. The white is actually a pearlescent mixative. From the same range. If I owned more than three colours of alcohol ink, I may well have spent the whole afternoon creating these backgrounds, I really like the effect! And better yet, the bits that took a while to dry - heat gun the granny ut of them, they soon dry up and of course, the vellum barely turns a wrinkle.
This card was for a 'backgrounds' workshop, and in the spirit of balance on my blog, I shall add another photo.
Because I can. And this features blobbles too.
These squares are coloured with Copics, and then alcohol blending fluid is sort of dribble/come splashed over the sheet. Then stamped. Rocket science it is not! More learning for me too - if you don't use your Copic collection for ages (prolly 18 months), you should expect the odd one to be a bit dry. Ah well. Learning learning!

Love both cards.
Hope you have a good week.
Great cards, Julia love the blobbles !
More fun with vellum! Loving these techniques! Sounds like a very dangerous class.
PS did you fussy cut around all the drips on the first one?
I'm in AWE. I've used a heat gun on vellum and it turned it into valleys and hills, ripples and streams. I am so glad you know how to use yours.
Love both of these, but I was really intrigued with how you got the clock. Beautiful.
Super cards Julia - love the ink effects.

Thanks Julia, I was looking forward to seeing what you did with the blobby paper.
Great cards. Happy crafting, Angela x
funny, I also only have 3 colors of alcohol ink. when I want other colors, I mix alcohol on the craft sheet with an alcohol based marker of which I have multitudes!
Love your backgrounds they look enticing enough for me to want to give it a go too. Now I have heaps of comics and never use them, in actual fact I hate them and don't have the heart to chuck them out, but that is another whole story. I might be able to use them in this way too, thanks for the new ideas with this, you're a champion. Sounds like you are getting back on the mend creating again.
See u later today as it has just gone midnight here in Melbourne.
Hugs Eliza
I love what you are doing with your backgrounds, Julia. The "blobs" on the first card, behind the clock face, are almost reminiscent of gearwheels. I don't use my alcohol inks as much as I should, clearly!

Hi Julia,
I like the looks of this! What a great background. I'm so glad you shared your experiment with us.
Hugs,

Fab cards Julia.

Love what you did with the original background and I do like the others but I don't think the pens should dry up if not used for 18 months. There are too many products we use that only have a shelf life of xyz. If that is what we have to expect then we should also expect a sell by date to be on the products.
Am going to write my WOYWW now and I will mention this (if I remember LOL)
Hugs, Neet xx
Beautiful backgrounds, Julia. Love the cards.
Lovely cards. The effects you have achieved on the background is lovely.
Both cards are gorgeous! I LOVE that blotchy effect you got with the alcohol inks on vellum. Blessings!
Such amazing background all one of a kind
Happy woyww hugs Nikki 7
Love the "blobbles" word. :) Now I want to play with alcohol inks and vellum.
Great effect - will have to try this out sometime, looks like good messy fun!
