Just call me Mrs Flexible...

The border die and butterfly are Marianne and the rose is made by Joy.

Here's one of the cards I made for the Demonstration on Saturday.  It's absolutely, totally not my style.  But I'm a flexible professional demonstrator (really, I slay myself!) and making nice things to show to nice people is pretty much what it's about.  Thing is, I say this isn't my style.  I say this quite a lot.  And actually, I no longer know what my style is.  I fear that my style is just following the ideas.  Never did me any harm, but not overtly original, huh.  Anyway, this revelation - indeed, epiphany, means that I am now going to go about being proud of how flexible and accommodating my style actually is. You want die cut samples?  Lend me your die collection and I'm your gal.  You want mini books?  I can do that.  You want rubber stamping? Oh yeah, I'm your gal.  You wanna trip me up and ask for grunge, altered or steampunk?  Erm....try me.....I might very well turn out to have a style somewhere down that road.  It's my road less travelled, is all.  See my jaunty flexibility?  Please do not confuse this with anything non craft related.  And for your own mental health, do not even think about me being bendy.  There is a difference.  Ah... my life - it starts and ends with rubber....

LOL! That did make me laugh! I don't know what my style is either but I don't do it for style so it bothers me not :-)

Now really Mrs D...I hadn't even thought of anything other than crafting and then it sort of went all 'Fifty shades'...**giggle**

Beautiful card.

I think enjoyment and trying new things is much more important than worrying about whether you have a 'style'.

I love your card, (and I'd really love to know what make of die you used to make it!)
I'm all for a bit of flexibility. I have no style: I just like having a bash at anything I see that takes my fancy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but it's usually fun finding out.

It isn't my normal style either, but I appreciate it's elegance and I love the shape of the opening.

What an elegant card. I'm right there with you when it comes to a "style". My art depends on how I feel when I sit down to start a project of any kind.

Hello Mrs Flexible... I know what you mean hun... demo-ing stuff that isn't in the comfort zone... kind of makes you think about what that comfort zone actually is! LOVE that card, it is simply stunning x

I don't have a cookin clue what my style is either!! Someone did say once that they would know my work whether it had my name attached or not... which would sort of indicate that indeed I do have a style (or they were being very polite and saying I do the same stuff all the time)!! LOL
I love that card, it has a classic elegance... just like she who made it!!;)

OMG! Never thought about it either...I just do my thing. If I see something that is fun I do that for a while...if you need special tools then I am like you I borrow them and that is my style for a while. Oh well be are bendible, moldable, flexible...not a bad way to be in paper arts...Like you it only extends to the paper arts! Vickie

Great post - really made me chuckle! I always giggle about being bendy/flexible as there's a joke about in Friends. Something Phoebe says. I can't even remember what the joke actually is. Anyway, a beautiful elegant card!

This is beautiful! Whether it is your style or not, you did an amazing job with it.

Always guaranteed a smile over at your place..........your card is stunning, no matter what your style is but you should keep this style up for a bit, methinks. Does any of us really have one definite style I wonder.......I know I don't anyway. A x

I have lost my own style, too. I took this year as a "growth" year - taking classes to stretch my skillz. So far, I'm still a lost little stamper.

But you have not lost the ability to enable. I NEED THESE DIES! ACK!

PS: I'm no loner bendy, either. Pffth.

Ha! this post really tickled Mzzz Bendy! Your card is gorgeous!!!

Sometimes I think I know that my style is a sort of recycled, kraft, inked edges look.
But then I get a different idea and go with that...
Sometimes you make cards for occasions and for others (the recipients) personal style...so that flavours it too...
So now I no longer have a style either!!!

That card is very elegant!!!

It's beautiful that's all you need to know. Lucky person who gets this or lucky people who get to see the real thing.

The trouble with having 'a style' is that you can just get stuck in a rut. So 'Mrs Flexible' you keep going coz it works so well. LOVE the way you have put this card together. Looks dead intricate and complicated as well. Hugs, Buttons x

JoZart Designs said...

I'm just like you....I understand exactly what you say! I make what is wanted and often it's not my style but very often I do slide in extra samples which are more of my choice and sometimes it has an influence on people.

Julia, I love your card... it would be so perfect for a wedding. Flexible is good sometimes...

Julia, back again.. I did not know we needed a style. I love trying all manner of things and then just do the ones I like the best. Forget style and have fun.

Eliza said...

Really Julia you have made me giggle with the comments you come out with. Well it that is what you create and are still unsure about your style, you are doing a brlliant job of it. Great card.

Well Julia

I think you're very good at 'not your style' type cards.

This one is no exception. It's gorgeous and actually the first time I've seen a card using those dies... Oh, I've seen the dies - just not what they do - and you've done an amazing job at showing me/us... well, that's what you came to do isn't it!

Mission accomplished!

Happy crafting - in whatever style takes your fancy!
