I really had to force myself to start using them, after all, I’ve got enough paper to last until my untimely death at about 110 years old, and despite the fear of them, I must have brought them with the intention of using them, huh! So I started easy, with these chibi pictures rather than real life. Helped a bit, I must say. I grunged them a little bit with black ink and stamps and put scruffy embellishments on. One page down. And so, now to the floors…
Scary again if you ask me. Thank goodness for that part of my brain that, as I’ve mounted the photo and rearranged it a thousand times makes me get sick of myself and the dithering, so then I can reach for a few scraps and make it happen. I can’t say make it work, because many will think it doesn’t, but it’s all a bit subjective isn’t it, this cutting and sticking game.
So now each pad only has 23 sheets in, and I’ve broken the spell of being scared. Except that I made these layouts last October and if they didn’t have a lid on the box, the pads would be dusty……I may resort to taking photos of strange things that might deliberately go on such backgrounds. Yeah right, just as I managed to get Mr Dunnit and Miss Dunnit to co-ordinate their clothes colours when we were on holidays and looking particularly photogenic!
I had to laugh at your ‘untimely death at 110’ comment cos over the last month I’ve been looking at my stash of fabrics and been thinking exactly the same. I’ve more than enough fabric to last several long lives and really must get using some of it....I just lack the time and enthusiasm really...and some of it is really just for stroking πππππ
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comment this week...it has been a difficult month mostly because we decided not to share the worry with our children (only my big sister and I don’t know how I’d manage without her). Thankfully all’s well. We’ve share it with them now and can put it well and truly behind us .....until the next time ππππ

I think my stash will last beyond that... but I totally get where you're coming from. I love the bricky backgrounds and congratulate you for using them so quickly!! I wish my writing was as nice as your's I might even do proper journalling on my journal pages! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI think you did really well.
ReplyDeleteWell, that is some wild paper but...I can see uses for it. I've white, shiny embossed very spendy and nice, but used very little. No wedding, anniversaries etc. well guess what I'm using it as of today. It will rot away or be thrown away by my estate !!!!! Cute photo. The mention of clothes !............cleaned both closets, trying to find dress up funeral clothes !!! What a lot of laundry to clear the dust. BUT one spring job DONE. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI think if I had been faced with such a dilemma (as buying brick and wood Designer Pads) I would have crumbled and bought two of each. Julia they are fab!
ReplyDeleteI always reach for my tiny brick stamp when creating backgrounds and this background of yours is fantastic! I love it and the two little characters on it. I thought it was you and Mr D. Never seen such a colourful wall but it works and you have a fab LO as a result.
Same goes for DD LO - another great LO by the fab Julia D.
