The desk is still in the dining room, facing the kitchen. Given the recent ATC swap and the wonderful happy Mail I’ve received, you could be forgiven for thinking that I’m arranging those ATC gifts into storage. But I’m not, I store those differently, oddly. Those card holder pages are all about Mr Dunnit’s childhood collection that I found in the cardboard box in one of the sheds at his Mum’s place when I was looking for a garden sieve. Seriously. Is it serendipity? I dunno, but he wants to keep them, so I’m sorting and filing every now and then.
Football cards! He has happy memories of collecting and trading and given the number of albums that my scrapbook hobby runs to, it won’t hurt to have an album of cards for him to gloat over when he’s in reminisce mode will it!
We celebrated Her Majesty’s Jubilee and celebrated her achievement and our luck at being English this weekend, it was lovely. I hope you enjoyed some of the spectacle even if you live outside GREAT Britain. Enough. Please show and tell of your Workdesk this week, it will finally be a pleasure to catch up with you!
Glad you have managed to get the iPad sorted Julia, such a pain when things go wrong like that. Have thoroughly enjoyed the Jubilee celebrations too and the family get togethers. Great footie cards! Right colours but the wrong team lol. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #2
ReplyDeleteI loved every minute of the Jubilee celebrations - we do that kind of spectacle so well! Hence hardly any crafting... loving Mr D's football cards . Have a good week
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you posted early because I am headed to bed shortly. Don't think I could stay up till after 8 your time this week. Those playing cards are probably worth a lot o money to some collectors.
ReplyDeleteWe got to see some of the Jubilee on TV. I thought the queen looked good on Thursday for the flyover, but very tired on the balcony on Sunday. I suspect she's glad it's over. Hope you have more YOU time this week.
Lol! I raided Jack’s Pokémon card collection (after giving him a chance to claim them - he did not) to make ATC holders. The jubilee was jubilant! Lovely weather for most of it and such grand celebrations. It is indeed GREAT to be British! If only by choice and not birth. Happy Woyww!

These techy things are great....when they work aren’t they? Glad you’re all sorted now. We enjoyed a lot of the Jubilee on the telly but other plans have had to be put on hold. I’m suffering with sciatica....no I haven’t got it, hubby has, but believe me I’m suffering. Having had it twice I know just how painful it is but it seems to go to a whole new level in a man...just hope he’s better soon.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

So pleased you got your ipad sorted, totally agree its so stressful when stuff stops working!! We had a fab bank holiday and saw one of the flyovers and added photos of what we did on my update this week too. Can we have a 4 day weekend every year?

Goood morning Julia 🤗 So sorry to read about the misbehaviour 😘 of your Ipad ... nothing more frustrating, modern technology is both a blessing and a curse at times. I'm so glad you got it sorted⭐ Your husband will be over the moon with his album, treasured memories of childhood it will bring 💕 We watched some of the Jubilee on the telly, beautiful weather up here with lazy days it was. ⭐ wishing you a good week ahead with love and hugs Tracy #11 xxxx
ReplyDeleteGreat to find the card collection. I remember looking at my Grandad's football cards a long time ago. Were they in cigarette packets?
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of the IT problems... happy WOYWW!

Fun post Julia, my visits were limited also, had 2 funerals and one was a dear friend since high school, and his 23yr partner has been so special.Spent the day with her and friends. I am hoping you and Chris get the ATC I mailed. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, the football cards are still very collectable and they have been selling reproductions for some time which makes the originals even more saught after. Years ago we started collecting cigarette cards each time we went to the antique collectors fair, as no one really wanted them they were quite cheap to buy but again now it's almost impossible to get the originals. We enjoyed watching the celebrations and it was so great to see people having a good time and getting back together again. Wishing you a happy woyww. Hugs, Angela x13x
ReplyDeleteMorning Julia, hope your iPad problems are all behind you now. Glad you had a fab weekend - weren't the celebrations amazing, we certainly know how to put on a good show! How great to find the football cards - I don't know if kids do swaps these days but they were a massive part of my childhood. I used to collect my Nan's cigarette cards! Hope your hubby gets lots of joy revisiting his collection.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week,

Love the old trading cards, it's great to file them in binders out of the typical cardboard box. That's what started my journey with photo albums when I was 17yrs, mother still has a cardboard box, I now have 19+ photo albums and 16+ scrapbook albums.
ReplyDeleteI did mention last week that your ATC to me must have gone the scenic route and possibly got lost which is the reason for me not show it on my blog. I thought Susan's with the Jubilee stamp was from you at first, Hubby had picked it up off the mat when we came in from seeing Top Gun and said it was a British one! Doh! Never Mind seen your handy work on the blogs so that's cool.
Yes has a super Jubilee Weekend, hubby retired and all but then you've probably seen my FB updates LOL. Happy WOYWW BJ#18
Managed to pop in this week with a post Julia and I’m hoping to get back to some sort of normality soon. Lovely to know you are all here whenever I can pop by xx
ReplyDeleteGood morning Julia, albeit a sleepy one here! It rained nearly all night, quite loud on the caravan roof. My husband is thinking of taking the caravan to Shrewsbury. I can’t find Redford, but I can find Radbrook Community Hall - they both begin with R🤣🤣
ReplyDeleteSeveral caravans had Union Jacks on them and we drove through decorated villages. Back in Wales there were celebrations too.
Happy WOYWW. Angela #15
Hi Julia, really, you can’t get the staff these days, can you? We avoided the more jingoistic elements of last weekend by going out for my birthday lunch. I unexpectedly enjoyed the pageant on tv though, it was quirkily British with Daleks and Prue Leith’s Roller breaking down, Morris minors and amazing carnival giraffes.
ReplyDeleteAs with the football cards, so with B’s model trains: I always say there are worse things for a husband to collect 😏
Take care and happy WOYWW
Hugs

Sorry to hear about the ipad - I am similarly badly behaved when my tech lets me down!! Also reliant on my DD who oddly is often more competent than my two IT obsessed males. Hope all is now resolved. I did let my hubby keep his football trophies but they haven't seen the light of day for 30 years (and are never likely to lol). Have a good week, Cindy x
ReplyDeleteYou never know, those cards may be your retirement savings! Good for him for saving them! Glad you had a good weekend, everything I saw on the telly seemed lovely and fun and positive. I thought the carriage with the hologram in it was very cool! Too bad about your I-Pad, these things can get very frustrating, but it all seems good in the end. Have a great week, Lindart #24
ReplyDeleteYou mentioning the football cards reminded me of the tea cards we used to make in crafting. They were very popular at one time but was that before ATC's came in or an addition? I cannot honestly remember. Either way there is something about little works of art and you took me back a bit with your hubbies collection.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine the frustration with the misbehaving ipad. I get so in a tizz when something goes wrong with a computer, it's like having your right arm cut off when you are away from the cyber world.
Well, glad you enjoyed the Jubilee weekend and here's to this coming weekend, nothing special but it seems here quicker for some reason.
HJugs, Neet 7 xx
Aren't we at a lost when our devices don't work properly! Glad yours is up and running again!
ReplyDeleteOur youngest son sold his basketball cards from when he was a kid and made quite a bit of money!
Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Scraping in last . . . . actually I've been here ages . . . . tried to use my Pad but couldn't find the linky . . . . back to the old PC . . ..
ReplyDeleteLove that you can watch the potatoes cooking while you craft!!!
Must say there are some familiar faces on those cards . . . good times . . .great football (with a proper ball!) lol
Enjoy the rest of the week

Same thing happened to my computer a while back was updating and power went off. Had to reinstall everything. Your workspace seems to be going bet you won't want to move back. Ani #5
